I want to give a shout out to Andrea and Chris (I wish I had last names!) You know what it's like when life gets so stressful that you are struggling to find a reason to make it through the day, and then you discover a sweet treat in the international candy aisle of your local Tony's that is like nothing else you've ever eaten, and it becomes your nightly reward for making it through another day? No? Just me? Well, then humor me. I found that treat (and I'm not identifying it because I don't want my store to run out!!) and I stopped in my Tony's Monday morning to get my week's worth, and despite the fact that I hadn't seen the supply dwindle at all in the months I've been eating these treats (so I just assumed I was the only one who bought them,) AND they had literally boxes full of product every time I came to Tony's, my heart SUNK when I saw the empty shelf. Sometimes when life rains, it pours, and life has been pouring on me, and seeing that one of the few things I had to look forward to was gone, broke the camel's back. I headed toward customer service, and saw a woman standing in front of customer service (she may have been supervising the self checkout) and I approached her on the verge of tears and explained that they were out of the only thing that brought me joy, and she said "well then, we will find it." That was Angela. Thank you, Angela!!! Truly, an angel! I was expecting judgment, not kindness. I was hoping they had just moved the candy to a different display or something but Angela looked into it and they were completely out (and when I'd been in less than a week earlier, there was still a LOT of product that was about a year away from expiration, so I guess I'm NOT the only one who finds this item irresistible!) So Angela recruited a very kind gentleman named Chris who got my information, placed an order with the vendor, and barely 24 hours later I got a text from Chris that the product was at the store waiting for me. My experience with "customer service" on a whole lately has been that no one seems to care anymore. Or that people do the absolute minimum that they can get away with. I cannot remember the last time I had a company truly care if I was happy with my shopping experience. Angela could have just told me to "go look for the product at other Tony's stores" or online ... but instead she made sure the item would be available at my preferred store. Chris could have just told me "they'll be in some time next week, come in and look" .... but instead, he texted me to let me know when they arrived, and because I couldn't make it into the store that day, he made sure to set side the quantity I need. Again, these are all such small things in the grand scheme of life, but Joy and kindness are so important and so hard to come by these days. Because of the kindness of Andrea and Chris, I'm able to find little bits of joy at the end of the day, as I work my way through this difficult chapter in my life. read more

I have to give the deli 10 stars. My mother-in-law passed away last month, and I needed two deli trays the same day (large extended Italian family stopping in and out the whole weekend leading up to the funeral.) They were able to create them. I would never usually ask for special treatment or a short order, and when I did, they delivered. I cannot thank them enough for easing the burden on such a hard weekend. I have shopped there since the Prospect Heights store opened. I love the selection, the workers, and the deals. First experience at Tony's on Aug 21. Went to prospect heights store for a few sale items and had the wonderful pleasure to meet Juan the manager and Melanie the supervisor . They assisted me in buying more than they had on display and assured my shopping experience was hassle free and convenient . I would definitely visit this store again ! read more

If I could give a 0, I definitely would! Went to Tony's on Rand road in Prospect Heights this morning, 3/5/25. Bought two store packaged vegetables. One labeled 2.35 lbs, one labeled 2.2 lbs. When scanned at checkout, the weight became 4.73 lbs and 4.41 lbs. Note, they were SCANNED at checkout. Went to customer service and was told price changed. I said price change does not change the weight, right? The agent insisted price changed, finally he said he'll fix the change. I still asked an explanation, why labeled 2.35 and 2.2 lbs, but scanned weight were 4.73 and 4.41 lbs. He said I fixed for you, what else you want? Three store employees came close to me, and I left because I felt threatened. For one caught, how many were uncaught? How much they have cheated out of customers? Avoid Tony's! read more

I've lived in Arlington Heights for twenty years and all my kids went to Hersey High School (across the street) and today was my first time at Tony's! 1. It is the largest grocery store I've ever been to--it is HUGE like Costco! 2. The prices are mid level--generally cheaper than Jewel, more than Aldi. (The meat prices are very good, but not 100% sure about the quality) 3. Has a multicultural feel. In my 20 minutes there, I saw a few black folks, a few Indian folks, a bunch of Hispanics, and a few other white folks. Overall, I'd recommend Tony's. read more

I only go this store for convenience because I live so close. Their fresh vegetable selection is good, but they are not fresh and do not last long in the fridge. For example, impossible to buy ahead of cauliflower that does not have black spots on it. is dried out and does not last long. onions don't last long before they get brown and mushy inside. 75% of the time there's issues at the cash register with pricing. So check out time can be excessive. read more

On 8/7/2023 around 11am I was doing shopping in Niles store and saw a sign in front of a ground beef tray "buy one get one free" However, at the exit I was charged a full price for both packs. Meat department manager told me that sign is wrong, ground beef packs do not have some special labels and cannot be sold as displayed. Outrages! He was very rude and demonstrated absolute ignorance to a customer. Very disappointed with store service and will try to avoid shopping in this store. read more

This location is convenient, the store have good products, always fresh. However, I prefer respect and good treatment. This was THE LAST TIME I shop at a TONYS FRESH MARKET. I found something on sale, 2 for $5, I went to self check out, I scanned the first product, on the screen it charged me $5, inside I thought, ok, I shouldn't scan the other one, since I had already been charged the full amount for 2. The person monitoring the cash registers came aggressively and said to me "You must scan the 2 products" I told her that I had already been charged $5 since it was on the counter that they cost both. I was very friendly and even smiled at her, but she with her manager face that she probably isn't, told me, "My job is to supervise that people scan all the products" so my angel attitude changed a bit. She scanned the second product, added another $5, and told me that the system would give me the discount at the end, I simply paid with the card and left. When I got home I realized that they had indeed charged me $10 for the 2 products, I knew I had to go back and make a claim, 9 days went by, since I work and have more responsibilities, so today I went back to the store, and they told me that they no longer do returns after 7 days, the customer service person was also overbearing, had an aggressive attitude with me, she told me that only this time she was going to refund me $5, at this point I just wanted to leave. I tried to have a conversation with the girl, because I understand that it wasnt her fault, I was very calm, I was kind, I was gentle, at no time was I arrogant. Then I realized that everyone in the store is the same, unhappy people who hate this job, who treat people like shit, because they do not care about kindness or customer service. And if you want fresh products go to ALDI, they are cheaper and their quality is excellent. read more

I mainly shop at Jewel osco and Costco but Tony's is probably third on my list because they have a large produce section and they are overall reasonably priced. I've been coming to Tony's ever since I moved here about 5 years ago and never had any issues but today I was outraged by an employee that I feel the need to share my experience. As I was getting some onions, I noticed an employee coming with a cart full of onions. I asked him if the onions he just brought are the same ones as the ones I was picking because there were two different types of yellow onions in stock. As soon as I said it he said very rudely "yeah, same. Same. Now, get out of here because I'm really busy right now." I couldn't believe my ears and really wanted to say something but my four year old daughter was pulling me away that I just walked away ( I also didn't want to get angry in front of her), thinking I'll just write my experience here. In all of my lifetime of grocery shopping I've never heard an employee telling a customer to get out because they were asked a question while they were trying to stock something. Perhaps it's because I looked like I just rolled out of my bed so he didn't feel the need to be respectful but I shouldn't have to dress up to a grocery store to be respected as a customer. It was probably just one employee with an attitude having a bad day but from a customer's perspective, there are many other groceries around me that I don't see why I'd ever return to this store. Nobody was ever as rude as this one but, non of the staffs here were ever that friendly. read more

A middle-of-the-road grocery store for me. It's not the best nor the worst in anything really, with some things I really like and some things that I'm not too content with. On the plus side, this is an enormous store, with enormous selection, and an enormous parking lot. Outside of Woodman's, there's really nothing else in the area that compares to the size and selection. This is almost like combining Garden Fresh with Fresh Farms, and adding a little more. You'll find almost anything you need here for cooking in any cuisine. The downside is that the items aren't always particularly good. The produce can sometimes be a bit or old bruised. Many of the items offered are on the middle to low-end of choices, sometimes without an upscale option. Prices can be very good, but also very bad -- you can be paying considerably more for normal priced items than other local stores, but you can also find great deals on discount items. This is unlike Woodman's which is generally low on all the items. Sometimes, sale prices for items can be higher than the normal price of the same item at a different store. But, it's worth taking a look here for a change-of-pace if you're trying a different brand or type of cuisine. This is particularly true of ethnic cuisines where they may carry options you might not find in local specialty stores. Overall, it's an interesting store with a huge amount of selection. Not the most or least price competitive, but reasonable for the huge amount of selection they offer. read more

First online curbside order today. First of all, I've been skeptical of online ordering. I want to pick out my own fresh fruit and vegetables. Whoever fulfilled my order got it right. Exactly what I would have chosen for myself. There was an error on charges. Initially I was not a happy camper. But once I connected with the manager, Antonio, things got much better He made everything right PLUS! So thanks to Antonio, Tony's has a new customer. They make grocery shopping pretty easy. I'm done with this place. I'd say that I spend on average $750-1000/month with this store... but no longer. I'm officially an EX-CUSTOMER. This store goes downhill with every visit, which is actually hard to believe. Since my review earlier this year, I've had numerous (at least six) instances of rolling up to the checkout area with $200-300 in groceries in my cart, with NOT A SINGLE CHECKOUT LANE OPEN. You open at 7am, yet at 9am, you don't have a single lane open? Unreal. Once, I literally had to yell, "HELLO? Is anyone working here?" before someone opened up a register: a new employee (A****e), who proceeded to take almost every single produce item out of the bag to read the PLU band vs. reading her laminated PLU reference sheet. Just what I want: your hands all over all of my food. Blech... More often than not, I end up bagging most/all of my groceries, because this place simply refuses to staff appropriately. There are always multiple Tony's employees standing around doing nothing, yet none are willing to bag for a customer. Tony's prices are nothing special, so I should not be paying to bag my own groceries. Their produce quality is worse and worse every visit, and their stock is completely unreliable. A brand new bag of Lychee: completely rotten right out of the bag. Lettuces: brown and slimy. Cantaloupes: consistently bad. It goes on and on. They're regularly out of many items: dill, green onions, mustard greens, and plenty more. Their meat is disgusting. I regularly see past-date chicken put front-and-top over fresher packs. Undoubtedly deliberate. It's normal for a few expired items to slip through, but I see past-date items across the store at Tony's regularly. It's gross. You literally have to check every item, because Tony's doesn't. On a recent visit, I came back with a focaccia... Got home, took it out of the bag, fuzz and mold all over it. Right into the trash it went. Then when it comes time to actually check out, you have to watch them like a hawk... Items advertised as "each" are sometimes rung up as "lb", and if you don't catch it, you can take a big hit. It's happened to me more than once. They also screw up PLU's often enough that you have to watch them... I once had a squash rung up as something MUCH more expensive (by the lb.), but fortunately, I caught that one. Then comes the "ID on 8" call, when the ONE person in the store with the authority to fix a mis-rung item has to come over to void the errant charge. I've literally talked to folks in line about how bad this place has gotten, and they all agree. Hell, even of the cashiers told me, "this place is a mess". Yes, yes it is. From someone who has wasted far too much time and money at this store, please: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. My guess is that the only way this place continues to exist is by virtue of under-staffing and over-charging. It's got to stop! read more

I'm very disappointed in Tony's ever since they got new ownership. It hasn't been the same. Nobody knows what they are doing anymore. They couldn't process any of my credit card's despite the fact that I've been using them at the store for year's. They walked me over to customer service, where I told them that I would pay with my ATM card or cash. They still couldn't process my order so I walked out. Looks like they were having computer issues. Never did I get an apology or anything. The manager looked like he was a teen and over his head. I wasted over an hour there. Terrible service. Don't go there unless you want to get frustrated. The place is falling apart. read more

Used to be decent store in Plainfield near Caton farm and rt. 59. Lately they have been making mistakes in checkout and have to go to customer service which takes around 30 minutes. Latest incident makes me not go to this store any more. They moved the item which was 2.99 to another location between the time we were shopping to the time we were in checkout (that's what the manager Mr. Jose told me, that they probably moved it for tomorrow) and refused to adjust the price. He could have said sorry or just not be stern and maybe I'd be OK but his attitude was not helpful. Btw, other stores are much more accomodating and timely. read more

A beast of a store. Great variety. Inexpensive array of fresh vegetable . A large assortment of international cheeses . Went on a Monday and half the Fish looked pretty good. Manager said it comes in fresh daily from supreme seafood and Boston fish market. If you have an hour to spare you would probably skim the surface of the store. Maybe 75 thousand sqft. Definitely worth a look. Huge international market. Pretty good service for a store if this caliber. Check out the photos I took. This used to be a great store but now it is the opposite. I went here hoping to have a nice shopping experience. The store looks clean and well stocked. Every department has a nice selection. Then, I was surprised to see a lower price of a certain product, I put it in my cart because it is cheap but if it isn't I would not put it. So I was happy thinking it is such a great deal. However, I was in the checkout and I was shocked to know that the price is actually wrong and almost doubled to the price that I saw on the shelves. I do not have a choice but to pay for it. I hope that they put right prices on each product. Will not probably go back to the anytime soon. read more

I never have complained about a store in my life and I always put out good reviews however today was not a good experience. At the checkout there was an item missing it's tag because it fell of in the meat section and I didn't notice. Cashier asked how much it was and I said 38.00. They called in meats to price check but didn't bother to ask me what type of cut it was so put an expensive price and the cashier said it was 45.00! Almost 10$ more a pound than what it should have been. Yikes!So I walked back to where I found the meat and the tag was there! 38$ so I brought it to the front for the cashier and she said "what did you do, pull that off another piece of meat!?" I guess my complaint is that she could have said thanks for getting the tag or, sorry I was trying to charge you the wrong price. But it was non of those and a real disappointment in customer service with a very condescending better than everyone attitude. Too many angry, sad, resentful, employees. One in the deli actually called me an a-hole under her breath when I asked her to ring me up so I could eat my lunch and get back to work during my lunch break. Staff is about 98% Latino and the anger is suffocating, I suspect the employees are over worked and under paid to have mean demeanor in their employees like that. read more

I went shopping over the weekend and was very disappointed in the quality of food. I purchased tamales which were old and very very dry, fried chicken (ok), Puerto Rican rice (absolutely nasty and dry), guacamole (no flavor), 2 sushi rolls (ok). They have good prices on Italian water etc, but I bought chicken here one time and came back that day to return it because it was clearly spoiled it reaked and it was slimy. There was a whole line of people returning meat also. read more

I went shopping for my neighbors during the virus lockdown! They told me to go to Tony's. None of the employees or customers were wearing masks, people huddled together waiting at the Deli. The place is unsanitary to begin with. The young man behind the Deli actually spat on the floor! Employees do not care about you or anyone. Their produce area is interesting and worth a visit. Too big and not clean enough! However many people love it. read more
