I look forward to shopping at Joong Boo when I'm in Schaumburg. I particularly love the fresh vegetables available. The meat and fish are no slouches. This is the only grocery I will buy sushi at. Everyone is helpful, especially the fishmongers. Need a yellow croaker. They have it. How about live abalone. They have that too. Some of the best stuff that's not just Korean. Most of the aisles are wide and easy to find items. People can navigate easily through and around. I can't say the same for many Asian markets. We had time to go check out this Korean grocery store by my hotel. Right off Golf Road, and big parking lot. The grocery store is big with a foodhall on the right side and separate entrance. My family visited the food court and took a stroll through the store afterwards. It appeared to be clean and well stocked. There are a lot of fresh options in the produce and fish sections, but admittedly, we were there for snacks. They have an awesome selection of snacks that are out of the ordinary (in a great way) compared to other groceries in the area. I'm not going to elaborate that much on this, but the food court experience was awesome and we loved everything we got - which was about 6 different plates from the various vendors. read more

The food court is open now! There's a separate entrance on the far right when heading in from the parking lot, so the grocery section isn't directly connected to the food court--you have to go back through the entrance to get to either side. That's kind of inconvenient, but I get it. On a Saturday afternoon at lunchtime it was pretty packed, but we were still able to find a table. There are lots of seats and a bunch of food stalls. Loved how clean it was and it's pretty easy to order at the kiosks. It's a fun lively vibe overall. We got kimbap from the joongboo wang mandu place in case the kids wouldn't eat anything else. Solid staple that you can't go wrong with--rice, carrots, spinach, pickled daikon and burdock root, egg, fish cake all rolled into a neat little seaweed roll. What's not to like? Tang had ogani tang (ox knee soup which is tendon). The tendon was cooked so well! Tender and soft. The broth was creamy. It came with 3 different banchan. My kids loved it. A little pricer than other options, but split between 1 adult and 2 kids I'd say it's worth it! So nice to have it here now! My husband got kimchi fries with bulgogi from the K Grill place I think. We were in search of a drink called Mogu Mogu and I asked around work and I was directed to Joong Boo Market by a co-worker. She also mentioned that they had a food court. Joong Boo Market is a grocery store where you can get all types of Asian food, snacks, vegetables, etc. The store is setup like a typically grocery store. Prices are decent and are a little cheaper than the typical little Asian store. What I liked about this experience is that we were able to get some dinner from the food court. They had restaurants that served Korean Fusion type sandwiches, something similar to an Italian beef but worth Korean type meats. They had Bimbibap, pho, Korean, to name a few types of food. Maybe between 5-7 restaurants. We ended up getting Korean Buns w/ Red Beans, Tteok-bokki (rice cakes) and Bimbibap. The buns were delicious and it was a pretty good size. I like big buns - the food. lol. The rice cakes were cooked perfectly and had a nice softness to it. It was flavorful and spicy. The Bimbibap was filling and the rice and sauce was very good. By the way, we did get the Mogu Mogu drinks. We got the Pink Guava that had fruit pieces it in. read more

This is a grocery store similar to H Mart, this has a lot of Asian products. It also has a small section of non food items. Prices are about the same as H Mart but they do run specials on specific items. I would say I like the selection more here. They also have a fantastic food court that you have to enter all the way to the right. Separate entrance. I posted the times that they're operating. Joong Boo Market itself is open from 8 am - 9 pm. Parking is ample but can get crazy during peak times especially on the weekends. read more

Finally, their food court is open! We tried their cheese tonkatsu and wahng mandoo (translates to king dumpling cuz of their size). Delicious. They also have Korean baked goods. They usually have samples served by ajummas throughout the store. You can get jumbo sizes of soy sauce, kewpie, tonkatsu sauce like restaurants would use. Plenty of banchan. Snacks galore. Their hot foods' section has sales in the evening, like hmart's bogo. I like checking out their housewares section. One of our most recent finds was Pororo stainless steel trainer chopsticks. They have a free rewards card program where you can redeem points for items. Friendly service from their employees, never had a bad experience. read more

This is the first Joong Boo I've been to. I usually go to H Mart, but since this was on the way to another destination I couldn't help myself and had to check it out. It's fairly new and has a sweepstakes where every $50 in purchased goods gets you an entry to a drawing for various prizes. Everything was brightly lit and clean. There was a good selection of produce, frozen food, seafood, and meat. I was even surprised to see a small bakery section, although I'm not sure if they're freshly baked or prepackaged. It looks like they are planning on adding a food court in the near future. When I went over the weekend, there were a handful of sample booths. I'm not sure if it's because the store is new or if it's just how this store conducts it's business. In any case, it was great to try new food. I'll be stopping by in the future. read more

Love their 4th location, got everything you'll need. However, can't give them five stars because this location has no food court, which was very disappointing. Even though they do not have a food court, they do have prepared food in the back by the fish department. The staff are nice, great service and the design and layout is simple. What a great addition to the Schaumburg area! The produce is fresh, there are lots of meat and seafood options, and the selection of dry goods is plentiful. The store is also well lit, organized, and very clean. The eatery is not open yet, but if it's like some of the other large Asian supermarkets nearby, like H-Mart and Park to Shop, it'll offer a great way to enjoy a delicious meal and get shopping done in one trip. The parking setup is not exactly ideal because the traffic flow around the store can feel congested if it gets as busy as other similar markets, but it's probably not a huge deal unless you're visiting at the busiest hours. The produce for me is one of the standout features of Joon Boo Market. On average, everything looked very fresh, especially on the herbs and Asian vegetables. I was quite happy with the selection of different items from basil to mushrooms to leafy vegetables. The seafood was also well presented with a good assortment of everything from shellfish to whole fish with scales. With meats, I was quite happy to see everything from berkshire pork to shortribs. There was a good assortment available for everything from hotpot to premarinated korean barbeque. These were arranged very nicely, especially the packaged meats which had great presentation that's ready for entertaining. There were some major brands of items I couldn't find in the dry food section, but being a new store it's probably not full of all the inventory that you'd typically expect yet (there were still some empty spots on shelves). There were no missing major categories of items I noticed, but they just didn't stock some of my favorite sauces or chili oils yet. Overall, I'm quite excited to have a Joong Boo Market nearby that continues the reputation of excellent quality food for a very reasonable price. read more

Generous with the spicy sauce. Order from the monitors along the wall if it's busy. Bus your own tables after you eat. Exit to re-enter the grocery store. Instant Ramen for days, tons of frozen, refrigerated, and instant tokkboki (sp?). Large seafood selection: fresh, frozen, canned, and dried. Super busy on a Saturday afternoon. Joong Boo Market is a new Asian grocery store in Schaumburg. After going to other Joong Boo Markets, I wanted to see if this Joong Boo Market matches the quality that I have experienced at its other locations. When you walk in Joong Boo Market you first see a large selection of produce. The produce is fresh, of pretty good quality, and were priced very well. Beyond the produce there is a large selection of fresh seafood. There is a large variety of marinated and non-marinated meats. Finishing the loop around the edge of the supermarket is the frozen foods section. And what would an Asian grocery store be without a housewares section. In the middle of the store are packaged foods that include Asian noodles, spices, snacks, baby food, among other selections. Congratulatioms to Jong Boo on opening in Schaumburg. What a wonderful way to start your opening weekend. This store is beautiful, fresh and clean, and well-laid out with easy to follow aisle signage. Check out the fresh seafood and pre-made items. Authentic and deliciously priced, too. The staff is so welcoming and gracious to customers. The marinated beef with the Assorted veggies was great over brown rice. I bought marinated beef at other stores, and they seemed fatty. This beef was surprisingly lean. The produce looks very fresh and appealing. Try the sweet, crisp apples too. I go pescatarian each year during Lent and will be visiting Jong Boo repeatedly this year. read more

There's a small section for houseware - smaller than other locations. The main entrance is currently under construction so you have to do a little bit of a work around to get into the lot, but that's no big issue. Really nice new store location. Had a lot of options for food, reasonably priced, and parking to get here was really nice. Inside it was not that crowded and checking out was fast. It is great that their presence is growing in the area. The claw machines on the exit are fun but luckily I was able to get my hubby to avoid trying them (he doesn't have the best luck). My main reason for only the 3 star review was that there was a large group of people in the front of the store (non store workers, not affiliated with Joong Boo) today passing out material aggressively to people and you had to actively steer clear to avoid them going in and out. Possibly management was unaware but because of that i probably would not go there again on a Sunday afternoon. read more

This new Joong Boo Market occupies what used to be a Toys R Us space. It's fairly spacious and has their usual good products and inventory. The parking lot looked to be ample enough. It's not as large as the biggest HMart, but it is bigger than Joong Boo Glenview and it's plenty big. On a coldish Friday mid-morning and still in their first 2 months of operation, there weren't all that many customers here and it certainly wasn't as vibrant as the Joong Boo in Glenview. I'm guessing there are just more Koreans and regular customers in Glenview rather than here in Schaumburg, and there's also no food court here, not yet anyway. You can't go wrong with having a Joong Boo in the neighborhood though, and welcome to Schaumburg! read more

I'm still shocked that prices are so low here. I went to a cheap European grocery store first to get my American produce (fruits, vegetables), then came here after to get my Asian produce. Once I walked in, I was regretting buying everything from the other grocery store because produce was so much cheaper here (even American fruit). This is the second time it's happened for me. The first time was on opening day, but I convinced myself the prices were so good because it was an opening day deal. But months later, produce is still so cheap. And the Asian items are all at pretty decent prices as well. Love coming here for all my Asian groceries, and now my regular American produce as well. An extra plus is that they gave samples (even had Korean kalbi samples in the store. And it convinced my son to want to come back to this store again haha). You can go ask for a rewards card at their customer service desk. Didn't realize I could since they didn't offer it to me. But saw someone else have one (and get free items with it), so I went to go ask. I will definitely be coming back again and again. read more

We visited this place during their Grand Opening weekend. Place is clean and well lit inside. It was easy to navigate through the store with signs hanging above each aisle. The store is much smaller than I anticipated but the store does offer a wide variety of items from Kimchi, pre-made items, and fresh seafood. We purchased a couple items since we only stopped by to check out the new market place. The staff was nice and welcoming. They offered assistance to look for any item if needed. It's finally open! Korean grocery store with tons of selections including a produce section, fish market, and lots more. My favorite section is their snacks. I'm always curious about the different types of snack flavors. As part of their grand opening, they are giving out special gifts with every purchase (see image for details) and they're also sampling a lot of their products during the day.
