Anna was fantastic. She helped resize a ring the same day, was super friendly, and helpful.

    Review Highlights - Expert Casting

I guess I underestimated how hard it is to find an engraver in town, let alone a really good one.

I had an awful experience calling to ask about jewellery repair. I had two rings in need of repair,…read moreone purchased at People's jewellers and one old family heirloom. I think the name of the woman I spoke with was Monica. As soon as she heard I had a ring from People's, all she would tell me is that I had to go there to have it repaired. I told her that I would rather pay more to have it fixed locally because People's sends it out East. I kept trying to mention my family ring (because I absolutely would NOT send that anywhere in case it got lost) but she refused to listen and just kept saying, "go back to People's!". I literally almost cried because I'm so attached to that ring and it breaking was already so stressful. Anyways, I went to Independent Goldsmith, paid twice what I would have at People's in order to keep it local, and received excellent service. I would not recommend LL Private Jewellers at all, absolute crap service.

I had quotes from 2 jewellers that were much higher and that included up to 10 days in wait times. When I called LL (open til 9pm! so convenient for us 9-5ers!) they said to come right in, and as soon as I found the building (it's that old one on Granville you always pass but never noticed) they buzzed me in to their little studio. They were real, honest and friendly during the consult, quoted me MUCH less than the others and said they'd have it 2 days later! I went to pick up my ring today and it fits perfectly, I realized the reviews were all true, they made me feel comfortable and extremely satisfied with the end result. I'll definitely recommend their no-nonsense, amazing work to my friends and go back to them if I need anything else!

Upon entering the shop, I am greeted in a friendly manner and offered a quick introduction about the boutique. Featuring local and international artists, who make unique and individualized jewelry from necklaces to broches to rings to bags. At that time, there was a collection of necklaces featuring endangered plants. Placed elegantly in well-cleaned glass cases, I was able to read about the endangered plant and admiring the skills of the created pieces. On the next display, there were trending pieces from an international place (I forgot where) of these black flat, foam like necklaces. Light as air, and when placed on the wearer, it appeared to look like a tattoo. Really interesting pieces! Other displays featured, wishbone necklaces to aboriginal-like jewelry to canvas/wool bags to abstract rings. At the back of the store, there is an area from which an artist is found making jewelry on the spot! I also learned that they are able to make custom pieces for you, but I'm not sure how much. A really nice and trendy boutique. After leaving the store, I checked-in and realized there was a check-in offer of a Free Jewelry Cleaning. With that, I will definitely be returning and to see what other artist's jewelry they are featuring.

This business takes advantage of seniors and should be investigated for questionable activities…read more My 70-year-old aunt has a heart condition and required a medical bracelet that she wanted a simple engraving on, she could not afford the monthly cost of the official medic alert and just needed a way to tell emergency responders to not perform CPR due to her previous open-heart surgery. Unsure where to purchase one locally, the nurse who was visiting her did an online search and found this business. She called the location to see if they had them in stock and was told they had them and was quoted a price. When my aunt arrived at the shop, the salesperson, Mary, told her a different price. I think it went up by 30.00. She explained that the one my aunt picked out was different from the one quoted. Fair enough. So my aunt picked it out and she needed the engraving to say "No CPR. Do not resuscitate." About 20 or so characters, which they quote on their website as being $30.00 for 20 characters. When my aunt picked up the bracelet she was shocked when she was charged a grand total of $349.00, how does a bracelet that costs $135.00 dollars, plus engraving that should be about $30 dollars, translate to $349.00 when it should have been no more than $190.00 with engraving and tax? On top of that, the salesperson, Mary, was quite rude to my aunt. The bracelet was loose fitting but Mary kept telling her it was the right size even though it was big enough to slip up her forearm and get caught in things. They did at least resize it for her but not without convincing and Mary, being completely rude. They overcharged my aunt, a senior who is not well, and living on a very small senior income, by roughly 160.00. Do not shop here.

** Long review. For good reason **…read more I have waited more than a few months to write this review, as I didn't want to be hot-headed while doing so. To be clear, this review is to caution others who would like to avoid an experience like mine. I'd initially gone to The Engraving Place based on the positive reviews listed on Google. When I first visited, the owner/manager (?) of the shop, Mary dealt with taking my engraving order and she was wonderful and easy to deal with. I was bringing in my engagement ring (a silver, hand engraved band with an intaglio stone signet) for a custom hand engraving and had typeset the words in detail, which had cost extra but would have been well worth it. Then, picking up my ring and checking out the engraving - which was nice...I thought nothing of it. It wasn't until I WAS PROPOSING TO MY FIANCE, literally during the proposal, that we noticed the stone on the face of the ring had been completely replaced with a new one. It is still undetermined if they had replaced the entire ring in the process. This was done without any consultation, notice, or apology. They had simply hoped that we wouldn't be the wiser. IMMEDIATELY after proposing, I wrote to them asking what had happened and if they had replaced the stone without asking me. It was only then that they admitted to what happened. After much back and forth, they agreed to give me a refund, but only after I showed up at the shop demanding for one. Initially, they proposed to find me another ring and substitute it for the one that they damaged. Once more, I spoke to Mary, and not to the person who had supposedly broken and replaced the stone on the ring. If you have an item as personal and hard to find as a sentimental heritage or bespoke piece, I would not trust this establishment to handle your piece with care. Proceed with extreme caution.
