Stop right here. Look nowhere else. I have done the legwork for you! In 2018 we had Steve and at least 5 other contractors come out to give us a quote on our kitchen remodel. After meeting Steve, there was an authenticity about him that none of the other contractors possessed. Every question that we asked him, he was up front, honest and listened intently to our wants and needs. After receiving many quotes, unfortunately then, we knew we had to save up before we could afford to have our kitchen done. Fast forward to the end of 2019 and we were ready to take the plunge! We knew that Steve was our guy. We gave him a call, he came back out several times to take measurements, design, etc. We had a start date of March 2020. Surprise... COVID! Everything was in limbo and we decided it was best to wait. Finally come August 3rd, 2020 Steve and his helper started demo work. Our final completion date was mid October. During construction time, I had two other friends getting their kitchens done as well. The horror stories they told me of their contractors being late, not being honest, charging more than what the contract stated, etc. had my husband and I feel like we hit the jackpot finding Steve. Many contractors now a days sub everything out and don't lift a finger. Not this guy! He is there every day, doing the work, and is passionate about his craft. He is meticulous and will not cut corners, leaving you a project that you are proud of. Steve is arguably the hardest working human my husband and I have ever met. When you hire Steve, you don't just get a contractor, you get a friend...that turns into family. My husband, my two children and I fell in love with Steve. He brought us joy daily during the two months he was with us and has become part of our extended family. We miss seeing him frequently, but now get to enjoy the work he did on our home daily. Very happy with the removal of carpets in 4 bedrooms, refinishing of all those hardwood floors upstairs, and refinishing of all the downstairs floors in living room, dining room & kitchen. Steve came every morning and afternoon to check on the flooring crew who did the work. He was in touch with them all day. When the kitchen floor could not be done w heavy sander, he came back himself to do it by hand. It's one of those projects you think - why didn't we do this sooner? The only thing was we had to move everything ourselves, and ended up taking a sooner date then expected. No time to hire moving company help. We're so glad we found Steve and his team at the expert handyman. They turned a very difficult and unpleasant situation for us into a blessing (i.e. a nicely remodeled home). We experienced flooding that resulted in all our flooring needing to be replaced. The damage also affected our kitchen cabinetry. The key goal for us after all this happened was to get our lives back to normal as soon as possible. It took us forever to get to a point where we identified a contractor to carry out the repair work. When we found Steve, it was an easy decision to work with him because of how responsive he was to us. At no point during the process did we feel like we were chasing him. In addition, he seemed to empathize with the fact that what we were dealing with was a major disruption to our family and keen on getting things in motion to complete the work in as efficient a manner as possible. We ended up replacing all the flooring on the first floor of our home, (including the kitchen), repainted the walls of our living room and dining room, and remodeled our entire kitchen. The kitchen remodeling involved removing the old cabinets, installing new cabinets, installing recessed lighting, installing pendants and a chandelier, and installing all our new kitchen appliances (range, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher). Steve redid a kitchen for me back in the fall after another contractor totally botched it. The work is impressive and Steve shows up when he says he will. His price was fair and he actually helped with his cabinet crew to redesign the kitchen with a much, much better layout! I hired Steve for a kitchen remodel job (floors, cabinets, walls, countertops). I have never felt the need to go out of my way to actually write a review on Yelp, but I feel very strongly that people should be acknowledged for exceptional work. I was very skeptical about hiring a smaller contractor using Yelp, but the estimates from some bigger companies seemed really inflated and I was working with a smaller budget, so I had a few smaller groups out for estimates. Steve was ready to come out for an estimate immediately. The estimate was incredibly reasonable compared to what I had received from several other contractors and probably a third of what Home Depot proposed. He seemed knowledgeable and enthusiastic about everything that I needed to have done, so I accepted his bid. Steve really exceed my expectations with the final result, but there was a lot beyond the quality of work that made me want to make sure Steve gets the credit he deserves. First, Steve never steered me wrong the entire time the work was done. I have no imagination for kitchen remodeling, so I had to trust a lot of Steve's recommendations and I was really happy about trusting every single one of them. If there was something that I insisted on, Steve would certainly do what you ask, but I definitely appreciated his insight either way. Steve will go out of his way to make absolutely sure that you are 100% satisfied about every bit of work he does. He truly aims to please; taking care of his customers is his main priority (and really, his only priority). I am actually surprised there are not more reviews on here about the great work and business that Steve does. I think that is a shame, because I really believe that he deserves more credit judging by the work that I have had done. Steve is a good businessman, does good work and completes the job with integrity. He will do anything you ask if he can and if it is within reason. He does not add on any surprises to his original estimate. If there is something that he suggests that will cost extra, he will make sure you are aware of any additional costs before you agree to anything. He keeps the cost up to date and the customer consistently informed. Steve is always available for questions, never be afraid to ask anything. Steve will have an answer and if it is a concern, he will address it and make sure you are happy with the result. He is always quick to get back to you, which really helps to put you at ease as the work is done. He is incredibly accommodating and I cannot say enough about that aspect of his business. My kitchen looks great and I am really happy that I was able to do it without getting ripped off by a big name company. If you have gotten to read this review, bring Steve in to do your job, you will NOT be disappointed. I would not have posted this for anyone that did not deserve the credit. If Yelp had more than 5 stars to give, I would give them to Steve. Turns out that Steve was out of the country for a bit while someone else was handling his business ... not so well. Steve contacted me immediately from his over seas destination and apologized profusely about the lack luster work that was done to my house and the subsequent bad follow up/lack of communication from his man in charge. Upon his return to the states, Steve scheduled a time with me to personally assess and remedy my roof situation. Steve is very smart. He went around my home fixing anything from a jammed window to installing new closet doors. He also figured out that my roof was not properly caulked, leading to unnecessary leaks in my living room. He opened up the ceiling, aired it out and patched it back up. My husband and I recently moved into a new home and thought we could renovate our kitchen ourselves... and we have a baby on the way in about a month. Everything was taking longer than expected so when we finally got to the point where we were ready to install the tile and cabinets, we decided to hire someone. We found Expert Handyman Contractor through yelp and couldn't have been more pleased! I called several companies, but Steve was the quickest to respond. He came out to my house the same night I called to give me a quote, which wound up being the best quote we received. He was able to squeeze us into his schedule a few days later as he was about to leave for a trip, and we didn't want to wait until his return. Steve and his team were able to install the tile and cabinets in just two days! Well... they would have been able to install it all in two days if our plumber hadn't set the plumbing too low for the cabinets (the lower pipes were set at the exact level of the cabinet base so there was no way to install the cabinet correctly without moving the plumbing. Steve and his team were willing to come back the following day after we had our plumbing moved. He didn't even charge extra! We also had some issues with our cabinets that they were able to help us problem solve. This was by far the best part of our kitchen renovation project we've had and I couldn't be more thankful to Steve! I wish I had just hired him in the beginning to do the whole project. read more
