Jason and Aaron were both very knowledgeable and experienced. The trek to the rappelling locations were easy for us and the rappelling itself was really fun. We also had a bit of a nature tour up to and back from rappelling as we made good time both ways. We highly recommend using High Rock Adventures for their professionalism and positive vibes.

Seems she always wanted to go but never had anyone to take her. Who says "Three's a crowd"? Fiddlesticks. We had a blast! Old people in their 60's/70's can still climb rocks and rappel down a cliff. Remember, it was a first for these old ladies and they did marvelous. Kayce and Jason were the best. A challenging day for those two guides but it really mattered and we all thrived! They were pretty cool to just chill and exchange stories with. If I were fifty years younger, I would love doing their job. They obviously did. Part of the adventure was also learning about different aspects of nature, courtesy of Jason, a very knowledgeable guide. I know a lot but now I know more. 04/25

There were horses everywhere is this place caters to the equestrian. We even got to watch an obstacle course for the horses to be judged on. The hot tubs were the best maintained hot tubs we've ever been in. The area is very quiet and peaceful and full of wildlife. Watch out for deer on your way in.

You are almost relegated to smaller coves as you try to escape the waves caused by power boats. Not at Lake Hope State Park as boaters are restricted to electric motors only. My wife is all about the well maintained mountain bike trails. We were both all about the small camping pads and many non electric sites. This meant that as tent campers we were not back to back with massive RVs. And our dog was all about all of it, especially since a state park means that he gets to hang out with his pack!  On the down side, there was only one water spigot, one near the check in, that was marked as potable. Perhaps the others throughout the campground are and are not marked. However, we chose to only get water from that spigot. The spigot that was closest to our campsite was way too close to the pit toilet for me to feel comfortable drinking without filtering/boiling.  While we didn't get the chance to actually take our boats off the car, thanks to thunderstorms, we did drive around and find some spots that would work perfectly as put ins. There's a space just off the main road that would work for those who are kayaking, canoeing, or SUPing. The drive to and from LHSP was beautiful, with the visual elevation changes. I loved that it was almost in the HHills area but lacked all the folks (and the restrictions on dogs)! Lake Hope State Park is a place that we will hands down visit again. Although, our first visit there was filled with thunderstorms- we managed to stay dry and camped anyway!

Like the…read morewebsite says it is very close to the state park and is across the street from some adjacent hikes so driving wont be a hassle. The camp is smaller than you would imagine from the website but the majority of sites on the grounds give you the amenities you would need, there is potable water sites sprinkled through the grounds as well as outhouses for men and women across the sites. The main part i enjoyed was how few other campers i saw i have heard that the main state park campground can get crowded but palmerosa does not have that problem at all, when i arrived i was even given the opportunity to swap to a more preferred site upon seeing the options in person (although i cant say this is a ground rule). Speaking to that the staff was wonderful we met one nice gentleman who accommodated us with our questions and equipment and was all around helpful and friendly. Palmerosa also allows horses which i cant speak much to as i didnt do that but we saw one group with two horses and those horses looked happy and the people taking care of them looked satisfied. In my opinion palmerosa is the perfect spot for someone who wants tread the line on primitive camping while its out of the way and secluded but close enough to attractions and town for you to not be far from fun. The online pictures created expectations that simply were not met when we arrived. To make matters worse, campsites were not clearly labeled, which resulted in another camper taking our reserved site. Management was very disorganized and, instead of taking responsibility and resolving issues efficiently, seemed to have an excuse for everything. The site we were ultimately assigned was basically a mud pit and not suitable for the premium price we paid. Many of the amenities advertised were either under construction or unavailable during our stay, yet this was not adequately communicated beforehand. We chose this campground and paid the higher rates expecting the advertised experience, but what we received fell far short. For the amount of money spent, this campground was simply not worth it. Hocking Hills itself is beautiful, but we left feeling frustrated and misled. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this campground to others.

The mattress are thin and space is tiny tiny. Overall wouldn't recommend this Jellystone site. You have to pay for an additional car (they only allow one at a site), price of wood is higher than other places and you have to pay to do the swimming obstacle course. False advertisement for pool on the premises. Shower house on a Friday evening was ridiculous. The first door was locked to a shower, second one shower head didn't work, and the 4th was draining improperly, leaving one working shower. Would not recommend at all.

So happy we stumbled upon this little campground. Out of all the campgrounds we visited this summer (including Jellystone in Mt. Gilead), this was the kids favorite. I felt safe letting them ride their bikes and play at the playground. It is close to anything you'd need and about a 25 minute drive to Old Man's Cave. We also had a small issue (which turned into a non-issue) in the beginning with someone else plugged into our 30 amp and the lady at the office couldn't have been nicer and took care of everything right away. I stayed at the Pine Hill Lodge in Logan, Ohio this past weekend. It sounded too perfect not to…read morebook it when I made the reservations last October, but when I still couldn't find reviews online as of this spring I was getting nervous. It was just built in 2011, so I guess people just haven't gotten around to writing up their stays yet. The place was absolutely perfect for our needs. It was easy to book online (yay! no phone calls!), and easy to find. We really appreciated the hassle-free check-in and check-out process. The driveway is steep, but doable without 4WD in the summer (perhaps not in the winter). It's very secluded. We could hear cars on the road and voices at nearby properties, but we couldn't see anyone. The cabin is gorgeous, and the owners have thought of everything you might need. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cookware and small appliances (toaster, coffee maker, blender). They even provide detergent for the washing machine and dishwasher, roasting sticks for the fire pit, cooking spray for the grill, plenty of firewood, extra extension cord, and flashlights. I did read in the guest book that a few visitors experienced power outages, so maybe that's the reason for the flashlights. I can't comment on how responsive the owners are to maintenance issues because we had zero problems during our stay. We were only there for 2 nights, but we definitely want to go back. I would love to stay longer. I probably won't even bother to look at other lodging options if we ever decide to stay in the Hocking Hills area again.
