Generally, the staff is nice and they get the job done promptly if you come during their off-peak hours. However, managament seems to change every year, and the prices for service get dramatically higher with each iteration. This was once my go-to spot for oil changes. I have a 4 cyclinder American made car and would bring my own preferred 5-liter synthetic oil and filter, then just pay for labor costs. Around 2020-2021 they charged around $15-$20 for labor on an oil change. Then it increased to around $30. Recently, in 2025, they charged $95 just for labor or $115 with the oil and filter included! Based on that quote, they now charge around $75-$100 for around 15 minutes of labor! Also, beware of the bait and switch. For example, during one visit for an oil change, I called ahead and got a price. When I arrived, I confirmed the price. But, when it was time to pay, the manager gave me a higher price and said it was because the pricing codes were wrong. The price is the price! I understand mechanics often want to markup prices and add-on services when possible, but it's not fair to the customer to change the price at the end. Especially not for standard maintenance tasks. Finally, I had one bad experience here when a mechanic actually forgot to put oil in my engine for an oil change. I figured this out while driving away and my car alerted me to check my oil. So, be sure to check your repairs before you leave. Honesty and honoring prices are big deals when it comes to service. And of course, businesses can increase prices. But increasing prices by over 5x during the course of a few years isn't going to keep customers. Given the mixed experiences and rapidly increasing prices, I'm looking elsewhere for auto services. Mavis has officially priced me out. Right now, Walmart Auto charges $59 for a full synthetic oil change. That's the baseline for my next oil change and dictates where I'll be doing any maintenance going forward - it won't be here.

He asked when I needed the car back, and when I asked how long it would take, he told me it would be ready by 1:30 PM. We exchanged information, and I left the car there. Around 1:30 PM, I called to check if the car was ready, and he told me to give him another 20 minutes. I said okay and left my house shortly after to pick it up. When I arrived, he told me everything was good, I paid cash, and went home. The very next day, while driving to work on I-78, I noticed the car did not feel right. Over the next several days, it continued driving poorly. On Wednesday, May 13th, I took my car to Hudson Nissan for another wheel alignment because they use alignment sensors during inspection. I explained the recent work that had been done. During their inspection, they discovered that the front driver-side tie rod had been overheated to the point that the metal became brittle and damaged. At no point did Herbie Auto contact me to explain they were having difficulty performing the alignment or that additional repairs might be needed. After leaving Nissan, I went to my regular mechanic, who confirmed that the tie rods now need to be replaced before another alignment can even be performed. I understand that issues can happen during repairs, but the lack of communication and the damage caused to my vehicle is unacceptable. I trusted them with my car and now have to pay significantly more money to repair the damage and redo the alignment properly.

I thought the pricing was fair, so I agreed to the service. After waiting over 2.5 hours, I was shocked when my final bill came to $269. When I questioned the total, Herbie claimed the balancing charge was actually $30 per wheel, not the $10 per wheel he originally quoted me. When I pointed out the discrepancy, he became argumentative and insisted he never gave me the lower price. Only after I threatened to dispute the charge with my credit card company did he agree to refund the extra amount. This experience was extremely unprofessional and left me feeling like I was being taken advantage of. I strongly recommend that anyone doing business here get all quotes and pricing in writing before agreeing to any work.
