Could not recommend Vavi's enough. We had a completely flat fire and were driving in on our doughnut. We stopped by around 10am on a Friday morning to get it fixed and they had us out in 20 minutes. They plugged our tire and switched it back on for us and it cost like $32. Hoping we won't get another flat tire anytime soon but if we do, we'll be back at Vavi's. read more

AVOID these guys at all costs! Misdiagnosed our issue and overcharged us. They charged us over $1,000 to fix our A/C unit and returned us a car with no functioning A/C. Took the car back to explain the situation and they said they know what the real issue is now and can fix it for another thousand dollars, which obviously we are not going to give them at this point. Leaving this review because we chose them in large part due to positive yelp reviews. This is not a reputable or trustworthy shop to get a fix. Maybe a quick tire repair, but do not trust these guys for anything beyond that. read more

We had a screw in our flat tire. The hubby used the repair kit sealant that came with the 2020 Prius, and drove to Costco. (No more clunky spare tire, but you can drive max 50 mph,) Costco said because of sealant, couldn't fix. Dealer appointment 1 1/2 weeks out. I went in today to figure out what the awful chemical smell in my car was coming from. I had got an oil change the day before from a different mechanic and wasn't sure what had gone wrong. The people here seemed genuinely caring and kind and willing to help. I'm not sure the name of the guy but he looked at my car for a while and totally without charge to make sure it was safe for me to drive. There was no real issue found perhaps I was just smelling burnt oil from the day before. I appreciate the selfless service mind you it was pouring rain and my car was soaked. My brakes were starting to make a grinding sound, I had gone to Meineke on JFK beforehand and the service was pretty terrible and the manager was petty if you didn't buy the service he suggested. So I headed to Vavis Auto shop since I drive past the shop everyday I go to work. Garrick was able to get me prices before the shop had opened, and he is very transparent. You don't get a lot of that at major chain auto shops. When I brought my car in he actually brought me inside to show me what was going wrong with the brakes. He explains and educates you on what's going on. I'm very appreciative of the service of him and his team, I was able to pick up my car and still go to work the same day. Awesome experience! I had a slow leak in my car for the longest time and assumed i had a nail but never had time to get it plugged. I usually just add air from my local gas station and go on wit my day but the pump was frozen (freezing cold day). I knew vavi's also did tires and I was passing by so I stopped in and asked for a quick air fill. After an inspection, it turned out my air-valve-thing had a slow leak. Garrick, the son of the owner lifted my van, took the tire off, replaced my air-valve-thing and in 10 minutes I'm back on the road. No more low tire pressure. All for less than a cost of a burger. really very impressed with this shop on many levels. i was sent there by my regular mechanic who did not have the engine hoist necessary to do this major repair at his shop - water pump /timing belt replacement - and had a really good experience during that stressful time. garrick was absolutely wonderful, professional and accommodating. patiently answered my (many) questions, did the job in the promised time frame, even picked me up from the train station when the car was ready. and if all that wasnt enough to leave a good impression, he went above and beyond without being asked - he had noticed a water sloshing noise from the passenger door when test driving in the rain and opened the door panel, found and cleaned out a blocked drain. yes, i was all too well aware of that noise every time i drove in the rain or went thru the car wash but, irritating as it was, never put in the effort to investigate whats holding up that water in the door and figure out how to fix it. how impressed and grateful was i when he told me oh by the way you know that sloshing noise, i fixed it no charge? very and very! its been over 3 months and no problems whatsoever. i have absolutely no reservations personally recommending this place, they deserve it. enough to make me seriously consider cheating on my regular mechanic and going back to them for other stuff too lol. their hours of operation were great too, better than my regular mechanic which was always an issue for me working in the city during the day and all. read more

I live in Jersey City. I was walking and realized my car had "almost" a flat tire parked acroos my building. Hopped into the car right away and drove to the closest air pump I know which is a gas station. I tried to place the coins in the box to start the machine and the pumping guy yelled "No working!, no working!" I said great, I am screwed. Started driving to another gas station. I am new to NJ and we all know how hard it is to trust a mechanic. But let me tell you how blessed I was to find Vavi's Auto Shop! I am not a car guy at all and we all have to be able to trust our "car guy". I was upfront with them about that right off the bat and in return Garrick said, "let me earn that trust" and boy did he ever! Garrick took care of my car brakes and rotors immediately the following morning and he gave me a deal that blew everyone else I went to out of the water. He even took care of my headlight for just the cost of the part because he knows what it is like to need trust when you move to a new place and that level of service was the cherry on top.
