It's a very small kitchen so a fair wait is to be expected, but they are usually great for pickup. The service is excellent. The building can get a bit hot inside, so if that is a factor for you take it into consideration. I'm a fan of places that put their investment in their food and their workers before fancy environs or trendy menus. This is definitely more in the genre of hole-in-the-wall neighborhood spot. The pupusas are excellent. Well-filled with no skimping. The flavors are excellent and I've already been a few times so I know they are consistent. The pastelitos were tasty and large and the salsas are always on-point. I saw others recommend the fruit salad drink, but have to admit it's not for me---it was mostly fresh apple bits which was not an enjoyable textural experience for a drink, but obviously lots of people like it. Can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for affordable and tasty Salvadoran food---particularly if you're in Adelanto/West Victorville.

I only found this place because I specifically went looking for local Salvadoran restaurants. Even after we arrived, I had a moment where I wondered if we were in the right place because the sign above the restaurant appeared to belong to a previous business. Thankfully, we trusted the address and went inside because this ended up being one of those places you're genuinely excited to discover. The dining area is small and pretty sparse, and it seems like they do quite a bit of takeout business. Up front, though, there's also a small market with imported Salvadoran foods. I came with my wife and mother-in-law, who are both native Salvadorans, and seeing how impressed they were with the selection immediately had me excited about what we were going to eat. Service was incredibly friendly and it appeared to be a mother-and-son operation when we visited. Knowing some Spanish will definitely help here. I'll also give one heads-up: the food took a little while to come out. Come prepared to be patient because, at least for us, it was absolutely worth the wait. Now the important part: the food. I started with a Kolashampan, my first time trying this Salvadoran soda, and absolutely loved it. For my meal, I went with a sampler that came with a pupusa, plátanos, an empanada, fried yuca, and chicharrón. The entire plate was fantastic. The pupusa was delicious, the plátanos and empanada hit the spot, and the chicharrón was great, but the fried yuca was the absolute standout for me. I absolutely demolished the plate. What made the experience even better was hearing my wife and mother-in-law say the food tasted pretty authentic to what they know from El Salvador. I obviously can't make that comparison myself, but I can tell you that everything I ate was delicious. El Sabor de El Salvador is exactly the kind of restaurant I love finding: unassuming, easy to overlook, and serving food good enough that you immediately start telling other people about it. I've already been recommending this place nonstop, and I genuinely can't wait to come back and work my way through more of the menu. Don't let the outside fool you, and don't be scared off by a little wait. This is a hidden gem worth seeking out.
