Store opened up about 10 minutes late. Three employees inside while about 5 customers waited outside. Once they opened, employees went back to working and then all of us ended up in line at the same time and only one employee was working the register. Employee at register was super friendly, but there was so little urgency by manager to get the customers taken care of quickly or even apologize for the delay. The three stars are for the employee at the register who was really nice and helpful and the cleanliness of the store. read more

My sister and I went to Express because she needed to return something she ordered from November 2020. She wasn't able to find a convenient time to return her items due to the 2 covid surges and lockdown that took place recently. It was already hard for her to come out given cases are still on the rise. Anyway, this man assisted my sister, he was friendly - I can't say the same for the lady manager who assisted further. I find the 60 day policy unaccommodating while most stores are offering 6 months to a year to return items due to covid/lock downs. The man told my sister because it was past 60 days, she couldn't return it. Then, my sister asked if they could accommodate because of the surges and lockdown and they said she can do an exchange for what the value of the items are to date, which my sister was ok with. The thing is she would need do an exchange right then and there and cannot get store credit - which I find really dumb because what difference does it make? Store credit or exchange, you're still going to spend the money at EXPRESS. They told my sister if she didn't exchange for something now, she would have to take the items back home and bring it back when she's ready to shop in the store for an exchange. How ridiculous is this? My sister told them she's not asking for a refund but for store credit so she can buy online instead of having to shop in store. And KEEP IN MIND, my sister is a HEALTHCARE WORKER. The man didn't know what to say so he turned to his manager and told his manager what was going on and she basically repeated the same thing. My sister repeated herself several more times also adding to the fact that she does not have time to come back to the mall. Then, the manager didn't say anything and proceeded to press some buttons then walked away... and it was silent for a little, we didn't know what was going on. The manager then says "it magically refunded back to your credit card." LOL magically? or was it that you didn't want to accommodate in the first place and rather us go through the trouble of coming here again just to exchange? We didn't even know she was getting a refund. My sister thank the both of them 2 times for helping and they both didn't say anything. Terrible customer service, didn't even try to help, made it really hard for a simple transaction, only helped because they probably realized how DUMB their policy is and how valid everything my sister said was. But hey, thanks for the full refund ;) P.S. you CAN get a refund, you just have to TRY hard because this store lacks customer service and understanding. Don't ever let anyone tell you, you can't return something lol jk just EXPRESS. I stopped shopping here years ago and this is a reminder why. read more

I had stopped shopping at Express for several years and just recently started shopping there again. I found that they started selling polo sweaters. I have been wearing this retro style for a while now and I discovered Express has a great selection. The reason for the two stars is on a visit to the Stoneridge store today I found a pair of pants I liked. I approached a male employee who was folding clothes and asked for a dressing room. With a straight face he told me the dressing rooms were closed because of being short-staffed. I just stared in disbelief. So he added, as if his first statement wasn't ridiculous enough, "you can't try them on". I immediately stopped shopping, put the pants back and left the store. I love this store they always have so many cute things. I was able to find the cutest beanie and a scarf to go with it , and a nice little sweater and some beautiful heels. I love the winter because I can always wear really cute sweaters and I love adding scarfs to my collections, and beanies are always really cozy. I will definitely be coming back to do some Christmas shopping for everyone here. Scarfs are definitely going in the Christmas stockings. read more

I really like Express clothing, and apparently everyone else that wears a size 2-4 does too! A friend and I were out holiday shopping and somehow, it always happens, I decided I wanted to shop for myself too...just a couple things...lol I found a few sweater, I really love their sweaters. I grabbed two shirts also--one blue and one animal print. I found a wonderful little pink dress, but after searching through the display, nothing in my size--not even close! I then tried to find the same dress in red, then in blue, then in black...ugh ;( nothing. After much more shopping around in Express I could not find anything in my size and began to feel "robbed" of the 'one dress' all us girls want... Then I saw it, gleaming on the mannequin, a tiny little sequin dress. PERFECT! I grabbed the LAST xs and was on my way to pay...YAY EXPRESS! I want to give them more stars, I do love their clothing; however, they are always out of my size. ALWAYS--which is my ONLY complaint with Express. I have negative experience at this store due to stupid policy of return. If you bought stuff in store or online and goes to store to return they would not automatically credit your money into your account .You need to carry same credit card if you want money refunded to your account .If you don't have credit card . They can only give you gift card which is not refundable . Basically if you don't plan to buy stuff at express your money is stuck until you have same credit card. This policy is exploitation of consumer. Other big retailers like Macy, Aber crombie,Hollister you can return your item and get refund automatically into your account even though you are not carrying same credit card to store. Be careful buying stuff on express it's hassle and bully type of customer experience . You drive 50 miles goto this store and get stuck with their customer exploitation policy. read more

Short Story: A great place to shop for fitted business wear. Long Story: I came here on a Saturday afternoon in need of a suit and to do an exchange. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Though when I got to the register for the return and exchange, the employee was not friendly at all. She gave me a difficult time telling me how I needed to do exchanges online since I bought it there. In addition, her tone was very condensing and patronizing. Perhaps she had a bad day or felt that I was trying to make a exchange/return that was not according to the company's policy standards. Still, she could have told me in a better way. I'm a Scorpio, but do keep in mind that all of the zodiac gobbledygook is amusing to me, and I really don't take it too seriously. Sure, I get excited if I find that someone I'm dating is a Cancer or a Pisces, but that's just because we all know that the merging of water signs = TRU LUV 4EVA. I tend to give stores a little more personality than they deserve. Victoria's Secret is the sexy and lustful and just a little bit ridiculous Scorpio (takes one to know one). The Gap is the moderate and simple Libra. Lululemon is the energetic and enticing Sagittarius. And then there's the very hot and cold relationship I have with Express. Express goes through two different cycles: 1) gorgeous, well-fitting, stylish clothes that compliment my lanky body; or 2) funky, oddly-sewn, boxy garments that really should be labeled "for curvy petites only." It's a crapshoot - I have no idea if EVERYTHING will fit or NOTHING will fit. Obviously, Express is a Gemini. The trick is, take advantage when a Gemini is "on" because the "off" can be very very scary. So I picked up some long colorful tops that are ideal for a slim tall figure, and also some 34" inseam Editor trousers (NICE PANTS FOR LONG LEGS, HELLO). If my paycheck had allowed it, I would have bought another 5-6 items because there was SO much that fit. But today's experience is misleading, and I just wish the styles were consistent because the Scorpio-Gemini relationship is notoriously tumultuous. I know that in a month or two, the store will go through the crappy cycle again. So sad. read more

When this place has sales, it's great. Otherwise, it's a bit pricey for frugal lil me. The sales are kind of funny because there's always rows of cardboard boxes marked with a size where everything in it is usually either $14.99 or $9.99 (or $19.99 if you're a high roller). This past weekend I hit the mall with a friend and I had to stop in here once I saw those cardboard boxes out. I ended up with two turtlenecks (one $9.99, one $19.99), a sweater vest ($14.99) and pair of work/dress pants ($29.99 -- I was living large). And the sale was a major sale because ALL the clearance stuff was an additional 30 percent off. Score. So that saved me an additional $20 overall. Nice. I will look super special now in clothes that cost less than they look! read more

I don't really know what the latest trends are when it comes to fashion, but at Express, I can walk right in and pick up a few shirts and they are up to the latest trends. When it's Fall, they have already started switching their inventory to Spring fashion. I like buying their shirts to layer underneath blazers, tank tops to layer under cardigans, and they carry my favorite pencil skirts. Their customer service at this Stoneridge Mall location is spectacular. They really try to help you find the right sizes. One time I forgot my coupon and came back to the store 30 minutes later after getting my coupon at home, and the girl at the counter didn't even get upset at me for having to re-enter all the items into the register in order to give me the discount. She was so nice and even said after seeing the discounts "that was worth coming back, wasn't it?" I left without any notation from them that I was a retard for not bringing the coupon in before I shopped even though deep down inside I knew I had a brainfart for not being prepared to shop. I like that they carry XS shirts and they tend to fit well for me. Many places have XS shirts, but are too big. The downside is that when I find something I like and I want to go back for a duplicate a month later, they no longer carry the same item because they've switched out their inventory. The pants are way too big for me even though they carry "00" sizes. Their skirts are perfect though. I think they offer hemming service too if I remember correctly. This was a while back when I tried on a pair of pants and the pants were too big all around. While at the fitting room one of the gals said they had that option. I love Express. Their clothes are fashionable, and comfortable. I always feel good when I wear my Express clothes. I always stop in, even if I don't plan on buying anything, just to see what's new. I love all the clothes I've bought here, and they're quality. I definitely know that you pay for the quality. I've always gotten my money's worth here. I think the sales people get paid on comission, or they get something extra for each sale. They always try to push the sales, which is fine since they do take no for an answer. read more

Located inside Stoneridge Mall on the lower level makes it easy to get to from the outside. It's a large space inside and you never ever feel cramped while shopping or that you are being stalked by the workers there. All of this is great when shopping especially for us that prefer to shop online or at less crowded places. Price wise and style I do enjoy coming to Express. They have a great selection of stuff to wear out at night and stuff to wear at work.The staff is friendly and efficent placing you in a dressing room and tend to get the idea when you don't need help and can shop in peace. Downsides are the bright lighting and the loud music in the store. I love music but when shopping I'd like something less techno and more stuff on the radio. I hate florescent lighting and with such a large space it doesn't always create the right enviroment. Let me tell a story. About 2 months ago, i bought two sweaters on the same day. One cost 14 dollars and the other cost 50 after tax. I wore the 14 dollar sweater almost every week and it became my new "go-to" top. I saved the 50 dollar sweater for special occasions, girls lunch out, romantic night in with the man. Last week, i was wearing my fancy 50 dollar sweater when i noticed a string... I found where that sting was coming from, a huge hole under my arm! Oh no, i must have caught it on something. In a frenzy, i took of the sweater and found two more holes. How could i have been so careless? I've only worn this sweater two or three times!! But then i noticed something. All the holes were on seam lines, not ripped. Now that sweater is in my "cleaning clothes" drawer and is saved for toilet scrubbing days, and i am still wearing my 14 dollar sweater. Guess where my new toilet sweater came from!!?? Such a shame, i really liked this store. read more

Every time I come into this location, its another SMH moment. Doesn't matter if its a busy Saturday afternoon, or a slow Tuesday night, this store is NEVER recovered! I don't want to look for anything if your store looks like a horrid mess. And when I do bite my lip and dig in, nothing is ever in order, nor do I ever find my sizes. And forget about having someone come help you--you have to flag down help, and a lot of times, they don't have great client service. Where is their CSL--I want to talk to THEM. Oh, I can't tell who it is--well, there's my answer right there. At times, cashiers can be quick, and half the time, I feel like jumping back there and doing the transaction myself since I have 'walked them through how to use the system--does Express not invest in cashwrap training since they left Limited Brands? Love Express! and I am glad they finally started carrying more styles of pants in petits at this store. They tend to carry things that are in style and age appropriate for me (I'm 35), without being all slutty like forever 21. Everyone is always helpful, without being obnoxious. They wait until I get a few items in hand before the infamous "can I start a room for you", which I appreciate, as I always try on a ton of stuff. The clothes here are way over priced, so I don't go here unless I have a coupon. They send coupons out regularly, so I always keep on in my wallet just in case I find myself at the mall. This Express is a great shopping stop at the Stoneridge mall. There always seems to be a sale (sadly you cannot combine with coupons) and usually stock in all sizes. Returns are easy and they have a good, free rewards program you can utilize to earn points towards savings on future trips. I would give them five stars but there typically are not enough cashiers for the line. They are always working hard I just don't think there is enough staff for peak hours. I have to agree with everybody here, the customer service at the Pleasanton store is awesome! I don't consider myself to have the greatest fashion sense, so I really rely on the displays and staff to help me out, especially with accessories. I can always rely on the staff to help me out no matter if I'm looking for casual wear or clothes for work. Today was no exception. I was on my way to SF to give a presentation when I noticed that my cardigan had a tear in it. I pulled off the freeway and ran into Express. I was immediately greeted by the staff. I explained my situation to one of the salesgirls and told her that I was on a time limit. Not only did she find the perfect wrap for my ensemble, but she was able to have me out the door in less than 5 minutes. Not only did she talk to me the whole time, but she did it with a smile on her face. I also shop at The Limited and Banana Republic (for work), but honestly, I hate the service that I receive from them. They don't know how to put an outfit together, it's very difficult to find the staff to help you, and they never seem to know about their products. Yesterday i went to express, it recently became one store ladies and guys clothing. Since last time i noticed that JOSE, the store manager was very unfriendly, unwilling to help and he definitely does not know how to smile at his customers (not to mention its his job to be friendly and please his customers so he can have a job and provide for himself). Express is my fav clothing store to shop! I just wish that mens & women's were still separate! I felt that there was more of a selection when it was just a women's store. Not to mention I felt a lot more comfortable shopping and trying on clothes when it was an all women's store. It doesn't mean that there weren't men in the store, but just that there weren't as many men in the store. The women staff are always super helpful and friendly. I don't really deal with the males who work here because they don't seem to be that friendly. Love that I can find jeans that actually fit me!
