The tow truck driver BOWDY from Express towing & recovery in Provo Utah held our vehicle & personal belongings hostage/as a ransom. He would not allow us to take pictures of OUR vehicle for the insurance company & would not let us gather our personal belongings without paying his tow fees first. He made us sign over the title to him in order to gather our personal belongings. CROOK!!! We had 4 phone call conversations with him & he was EXTREMELY rude to us on every single call. After my daughter was in an accident UHP had this sorry excuse for a company tow our vehicle to their yard. they flatly refused to allow us to remove personal items from the vehicle without confirmation from our insurance that they would pay. after providing them with the information from our insurance they still refused to allow us access to remove personal items. Bodi was very rude, uncooperative and unkind. if I had had any choice at all, I would never have used this company. I want to get my vehicle out of his yard ASAP and would not recommend anyone to use this company unless you enjoy working with people who are rude and take advantage of you. We got towed! My husband moved his truck to the street yesterday to help get my 83 year old mother into a car in our driveway. He forgot to move it back and we got towed! I hope no one else has to deal with Express Towing. I can't imagine a worse experience. I called this morning to get information to retrieve my vehicle. I was provided with the address and told to bring $251 cash. I was told he would meet me at the lot at 8:30am. He arrived at 8:44am and he knew I was in a hurry. This made him move even slower. Completely unprofessional. Doesn't allow payments over the phone, probably so they can rack up a larger bill. When I asked how I had to pay if not over the phone, he ripped me apart for no automatically knowing that it had to be in person (payment could have been rendered online). They threw multiple personal insults at me when I expressed my displeasure. If I had time, I would go after them for towing my tenants when their own signage says that the only time a vehicle can actually be towed is when it is "parked in traffic lanes including entrances and exits". My car got towed and i called before hand to see which location they were holding it. The guy tells me to Springville and when we arrive only to be told that our vehicle was in Orem. Like you didn't want to tell us that before we drove down to Springville! We had two flat tires that needed to be changed and he wanted a explanation how we are gonna get the car out. I had to take a moment to gather myself because when he arrived him and his so called "partner" was laughing at us. I've never felt so humiliated. Every time I explained to him it was obvious that he was t listening because he kept saying "WHAT" in a rude way! He told us to follow him, so we did. But this driver need to show some respect while driving. He knew someone was following him and he just kept merging in and out of the lanes. Basically playing cat and mouse... When we arrived at the correct place, I asked him if he could bring the car out with his towing truck. He then proceeded to ask does your car start? I told him yes and then took it back and told him is hasn't been driven in a couple of months so I would need to jump start it! He immediately tells me that if it's starts he doesn't need to move it. I refused to sign the receipt until I got a start direct answer from him. He finally agreed he would move it out of the yard for we could jump start it and change the tires. To say that one star is too much is a complete understatement. I literally only got a yelp to write this review so I can warn all of you!!!! I work in the towing industry so I am aware of the price points that it would typically cost for having a car towed and stored. This business does nothing but take advantage and exploit the people that have the terrible misfortune of having to deal with them. I would advise any business not to sign a contract with them as well as advise no person to ever call them when it comes to needing your car towed, the only thing that they seem to care about is draining your pocket as much as possible. They charged me almost triple of what THEIR OWN RATES ARE, they have no valid price point when it comes to a job and every job they do they see how much money they can squeeze out of you, one day they charge $40 for storage of the vehicle and the next day they charge $25, they charged me $221 just to have my car picked up and towed 7 miles which it shouldve only been around 90$-100$ per their own pricing!!! On top of the $221 they charged me another $100 for storage when they said it was only $25 and I only had my vehicle there for 3 days, so it should've only been $75, I asked them for a break down of the charges and they couldn't give me a straight answer; I work in Towing and GREATLY appreciate everything they do for us, but I have never EVER worked with such a terrible, dirty, and disgraceful company. PREDATORY TOWING AT ITS FINEST These guys are total snakes, and yes I am talking about you Bodey, what a slime ball. My daughter that goes to UVU was involved in an accident and these people help her car ransom because she didn't pick it up the next day. The wreck was on Friday and they are closed Saturday and Sunday. The Provo Police department has a contract with them, and I did confirm this, that they are to be called FIRST and any citizens are swayed from arranging their own towing. Basically at the end of the day, I had to fork out $451 to get my daughters car out after towing fee, fuel surcharge, time for the driver and mileage...oh and a $40 per day storage. I made an offer to let them just keep the car in exchange for the fees and they could do with what they want, I even offered to send the title. And the response from Bodey, "I am happy to take the car but your fees will continue to compile and I will send you to collections to get the money owed, and I will still have the car" . There is an article and allegations of Predatory Towing taking place in Provo, you can Google it, and the first company mentioned Express Towing, aka State Wide Towing. If you have to deal with them get your car out fast get away from them and if you get in a wreck in Provo, UT make sure to tell the police officer you will arrange your own towing, it is your right and they cannot do anything about it, in fact, they need wto actually help you push the car out of the flow of traffic or make arrangements to have the car moved out of the flow of traffic at no charge to the accident victim, and yes, that is confirmed with the Provo Police Dept and the State of Utah. read more

What a corrupt, POS Business! Run away from them as fast as you can! My co-worker's 8 month pregnant wife parked in downtown Provo after business hours behind a business that had been closed for two hours. No signs indicated she could not park there. She walked to meet friends for dinner but she stopped to ask another business if where she was parked would be OK. They said no and by the time she got back to her car it had already been towed - less than 20 minutes. Express Towing had the car for less than an hour by the time she was able to get there to retrieve her vehicle. TOTAL CHARGE $225.22. This is immoral, predatory and disgusting, not to mention it violates MANY of the mandates of the recent predatory towing ordinance that Provo just passed. I was hit by a drunk driver and the Orem police called this towing company for me. I spent the night in the hospital in severe condition. When I called to get some of my things from the car initially, I was bed ridden and needed my glasses and they said I could not have anyone else get anything from the car as it was a rule. I asked again if there was anything I could do and they randomly said anyone can come in if they have my "permission". My family member I sent had to sit and wait 30 minutes and then wasn't even asked any questions and was let in to the lot. When I called to set up a time, two days later, to come clean out my car and gather everything from inside the man answered and told me to come in an hour when they would have someone there. I called 10 minutes before I was headed over just to double check, the man rudely yelled at me and told me "you're not getting any of your stuff until I get paid", when I explained to him I was bed ridden and had gotten dressed to go and this was very difficult for me, he said "yeah whatever" and hung up. Then two days later we called again and demanded to be let in, when we called there were 4 people listening to him when he said "come down in one hour". We got there in exactly one hour and when we called him he angrily explained to us that he had said 15 minutes and the only guy he had sent there had waited for us. With my severe injuries I sat in the car for 45 minutes and waited for him to arrive and he let us in without even saying a hello. The fence was so broken that anyone could easily break in and take all of your belongings. This is the RUDEST customer service I have ever experienced. So let me start out by saying I really understand why we need towing companies. There is definitely a time and a place when towing a vehicle is necessary. These situations would include: car accidents, repossession, car failure, when a car is parked somewhere that obstructs traffic. Express towing (along with the other companies that are on the invoice) are not the greatest to deal with. They take great pride in towing your car. I was with friends when they won the horrible lottery of being towed by express towing. They parked in the far back corner of a church parking lot where they clearly were not in anyone's way. They weren't obstructing traffic, or causing any problems by being parked there. They were away from there car maybe half an hour, and came back to find that it had been towed. We found a sign that said your car may be booted or towed. In this situation I think a boot would have sufficed. They weren't causing any problems being parked there. If they had been there a day, or more than a couple hours, then I could justify being towed... maybe. But seriously, half an hour? I ended up taking my friends to the impound yard and had to bail out their car because it cost too much. (They were from out of state and needed the car to get home). The bill was something like $170 which was crazy! We had to wait for the tech because he was towing another car. I wasn't rude in any way. But the tech was complaining that because I was bailing out my friends car it prevented him from towing other cars from the same parking lot. He also mentioned that he made a lot of money towing cars which I thought was a inappropriate thing to say to someone you just towed. They are obviously out to make as much money as possible from a bad situation. There is an ethical way of doing business, and there's express towing. A full start is way to much. The only good this was the driver was very nice.. My son was in an accident a week ago on Sunday night. His car was totaled and unable to drive. When I arrived they said they had a tow truck coming all ready. The Orem pd called them not me. The man that was driving the truck was very nice. But when I started calling to find out where the car was. No one would answer the call. I tried till that following Friday with no answer. I ended up call my insurance company to see what they could do. They answered the first time. Express was told that the insurance company was paying for the towing fees. I called them 5 more times before any one answered. I tried to set a time to get our stuff out. But refused to work with us. My husband works till 5 or later, my son works till 5 and I work till 4. And would not make it over before 5. So we were trying to work something out with them but kept refusing to help us out. I was finally able to be able to get there today. I had told the guy we would be there between 10:30 &11. He said he would be their unless he received a call to tow someone. Which was fine. I called to find out where to enter since there was no building that was theirs. He said he left for a call cause no one said they were coming. I had talked to him less than an hour before telling him I was coming over. He finally arrived 30 min later. He opened the yard which he had to get out of the truck for. He never talked to me or anything. He then goes in to drop the car. He then pulls up a little and honks at me to go in. He never got out of his truck to see who we were. To have us show him ID nothing. My son got everything he had and needed out of the car. My son even started to look at a few of the wrecked cars. The guy never said anything to him. We got everything and left. It's kind of sad that they refuse to help out anyone except for towing your vehicle. They do not have customer service. It would have been easy to take stuff from any of the vehicles. Especially when they don't check to see who you are. But tell everyone different thing's that are company policies. I will never call this company or any of the others that works for or with them. They just want your money. The way they do it. Is keeping it as long as they can so your bill keeps going up. Time to leave yet another negative review for this crew. Not that it matters when it was the Provo Police department are the ones who selected them. Express Towing Provo, aka Knights Towing/Parking Enforcement guys were a piece of work. First they tell me that I cannot access my belongings until the insurance company has contacted him and guaranteed payment. I offered to pay cash, but that is not good enough, he doesn't even know how much the bill is. To top it off, he won't even tell me the address of the lot, so I can plan how long it is going to take to make the trip when I can come down, "It's in Provo". I work things out with the insurance, find the lot (very odd address), and after about 5 mins being there he tells me "I gotta go, you can come back later." I say I am almost done, I just need the key to get in the trunk. He "doesn't know where" the key is. I call this morning to see if I can finish. He says, "How fast can you be here?" I respond, "10 min." "I guess I'll wait", he says. He opens the gate, gets the supposedly lost key from the office, opens the trunk. I couldn't park my other car inside so I had to carry everything off the lot to my car outside. My first armload, carrying as much as I can, he immediately starts to lock the gate again, ignoring my first two attempts to tell him to stop. Now they are hovering like hawks wanting me out. Not certain I got everything now, but I am done trying. It's not bad enough that my car is totaled, but now I have to deal with a predatory towing company that I did not call or select. It is ridiculous that the Provo Police department would engage such a shady, low brow, predatory towing company. We already know we are going to get taken to the cleaner by a towing company, we shouldn't have to be treated like this while paying so dearly for their services. I asked for my car to be towed to a repair shop 2 miles from the accident and was told that the car had to be towed to Provo. I offered to pay for the tow and they indicated that they had to have cash. I offered to pay cash to have the car delivered to the shop and they could not give me a price. My girlfriend came over to cook dinner, but part way through cooking she had a flare up of her chronic illness. I ended up taking her to the ER and we got back around 1 am to find her car was towed. There were still around 10-15 open parking spots at the time, so her car wasn't causing any issues. Bodie was so incredibly rude and threatened to raise the price beyond the Utah maximum. When I reminded him of the law he backed down. He belittled my girlfriend's medical condition and was overall extremely rude and unprofessional. He refused to listen to us. We spent over 2 hours trying to get ahold of them so we could come pick up our car. He told us "Imagine getting home from work late and there is no parking spot for you to park in." To which I told him that I have on several occasions viewed Express Towing Vehicles parked in resident parking spots. Bodie said that this was our problem not his. I asked why her car got towed from Provo to Spingville when their listed parking lot (which is still in use) is only a block away. He did not respond but we were charged extra for that distance fee. How incredible that they can really stretch the truth and play to their benefits only at the expense of poor college students trying to make do. Now we have hospital bills to pay and this exceptionally expensive tow charge. Extremely rude, unprofessional, and predatory. They towed my car from a public lot in Orem that had no signs posted about towing. When I called to see where they took my car the driver said "I need to finish some paperwork can I call you back in 10 min?". I responded with "No I am not going to wait in an empty lot for 10 min at 3 in the morning while you do paperwork, where did you take my car?". He then proceeded to give me the wrong address in Provo which lead me to an empty field. I then called him and he told me he was actually located in Vineyard. By the time I finally found my car it was 4am. We drove up to a lot in the back ally where he rolled down his window and requested that I pay him $240 of cash or $250 by card. I'm a college student I have no idea why he thinks I carry $250 of cash on me but he wouldn't give me any explanation as to why he took my car. So I walked out of the restaurant and found that my car was gone. Apparently I had been parking in reserved spot and my car got towed . My wife and I did not see any signs stating that it was reserve parking. I guess we should've looked a little harder. We parked right behind the restaurant would you think would provide parking so he could patronize them. I found a phone number and gave them a call they indeed said they have my car they said yes it was about 3 miles away they give me an address on 1652 Grandview lane Provo Utah. Since We could not get a ride there We ended up walking my wife didn't have walking shoes she ended up getting blisters on her feet. This just makes me wonder how many other people they've done this to this is really a slimeball business. When I got there there was no office I had to call them again and they were towing another car that said they'd be there in about 10 to 15 minutes. It was kind of cold so we were freezing as were waiting for them and walking the 3 miles . To top things off we have some extra food from the Indian restaurant we were at and we are carrying it with us as we are walking to the Tow yard ended up spilling over my wife's dress . To say the least we were not happy about this at all at this point . When they finally arrived they had another car in Tow so before taking care of us. One star is too many! Wouldn't call this place if we ever needed our car towed. They seem pretty busy with their predatory towing. Provo has had their share downtown. Person who "helped us" was extremely rude, no information was left to let us know where or how to pick up car. When phone calls.. multiple calls, were made after calling dispatch, he was not helpful and talked so that we couldn't understand him to get the address. So more calls had to be made as the clock ticked and he made more $. We told him we were coming and he told us to be there by a certain time. We were, but then waited (after another call) for him to get there. There is no office..he sat in his running truck, which for a young girl to have to approach a 300 pound guy was pretty scary. What a sad way to make money. Preying on college students. My daughter had been in a car accident a couple of weeks ago and they replaced her windshield. Unfortunately, she forgot to get a new parking permit sticker from her apt manager. She had actually been parking there for at least a week before it was towed. Even though when I asked the very rude man i spoke with he said they check every night. I told him that she had been parking there for a week and he said well she got lucky then. I asked if there was anything he could do to help us out since she had a permit but had forgot to get a new one and he told me it wasn't his fault, it wasn't the apts. fault, it was her fault. Which I totally get yes it was her fault but with everything going on with the accident and things, I asked if he could understand and he said everyone has problems.
