I have a respiratory infecion like I've had many times before. I usually go to my primary care doctor, tell him my symptoms, and he prescribes a z-pac and it clears up in a day. I couldn't get in to see him (2 days before Christmas) so I went to express care. The guy wouldn't listen to me, said he wouldn't prescribe anti-biotics because it's viral. Next day I'm coughing up a constant stream of dark phlem - the usual bacterial infection. Now I'll have to go to the ER and hope I get treated by someone competent there, or spend Christmas in bed coughing my lungs out. read more

When I arrived, I was barely able to walk due to a fractured kneecap. I had to stand at the kiosk and check in. Once I sat down, I was sitting for at least five minutes, and one of the girls behind the counter asked me if I got a text message. I asked her for what. Apparently I had to enter everything in using my phone that I pay the bill for. Why do I have to help them do their job with a device that I pay for? Also, I provided a $50 co-pay in cash. That's what my insurance card said for urgent care. Six days later when I call in to get documentation and can't get assistance on the phone, the automated system says I have a $50 balance. Please explain this. I was in a lot of pain and was not thinking about getting a receipt. They also told me I had to put a card on file. That did not make me feel good. Especially with the interaction I had already had with them. Now I'm concerned that somebody may have not applied it to my account. The ladies at the front desk should know that they are the first person that people interact with when they come in. It's not a welcoming environment. The medical professionals in the back were very nice. It's just sad that the front desk has such lack of care/consideration. Just like when you call somewhere you can tell if someone is miserable at their job or not. Clearly they're just there for the paycheck and not for patient care. My 16 year old daughter had a sports injury tonight and she was in excruciating pain. The trainer at her school suggested ExpressCare Urgent Care Center in Mount Airy, since it was closest healthcare facility. We were driving in the rain to the facility and the gps had our arrival at 8:33p. I called the facility and the worker names Tiara told me they did not take walk-ins after 8:30p. My daughter was crying out loud in the back seat and I explained, she'll need a wheelchair. The worker said yeah okay but if you arrive at 8:31p, we will not take you. I told her I would try. I hanged up the phone and attempted to speed safely. I called back and another worker answered. I requested speaking with a manager or someone in charge. I was told no manager was on site and if I was not there by 8:30p, they would suggest I drive to a hospital emergency room. If I were one of them, I would have been gracious and used good common sense. I don't wish them any harm and I hope they don't ever experience such lack of decency in a time of emergency. I am the kid who was in the backseat and I listened to the annoyed workers talk to my mom with attitude, most likely ready to be done with work. I understand rules and regulations are set in place for a reason but it is heartless and inhumane to deny a child help. If you can hear a child hollering in pain and still choose to turn them away, you don't deserve to be working in a field that requires helping others, because clearly you couldn't care less. Winding Cross is clean and close to me but front office staff made me want to look elsewhere (not very nice nor willing to work with you). Med-something by Joann's on 40: clean and nice but has terrible hours. UNI off of 15 near Giant and Bonefish Grill has excellent staff, but the facilities make you feel like you're walking into a third-world country's under-funded alleyway clinic. Why this review is 5 stars: I walked in fully prepared to pay everything out of pocket. The people at the front desk were helpful and inquisitive, intent on figuring out how to save me out-of-pocket expenses. They made calls and figured out a way to have to insurance pay the entire thing. I'm so grateful! Thank you ExpressCare! Pro tip: sign up online and get on the waitlist, even if it's for the next day. I walked in and my name was the first on the list. This is a clean and courteous Express Urgent Care Facility and is far better to go too with an illness or anything that you believe you do not need to go to a Emergency Room in this 4-County area. I rank it at 4 Stars because there is a wait and it doesn't seem that anything is Urgent in any of these Facilities. Though if comparing to the worst Emergency Rooms in the 4 County Area, it's a 10 Star Facility as noted per Emergency that took place over the Memorial Day Weekend that made me never want to be taken to any City Hospital like Frederick Community Hospital. So, My Son had a Mountain Biking accident in Frederick on May 30th and the Outstanding Middletown Fire & Rescue took him to the Frederick Community Hospital. My Wife & I rushed there to be with our Son, but we were never allowed to go in the back and see him during the outrageous 8 hour fiasco. Frederick Community Hospital's Emergency Room is the farthest thing from an Emergency Room and is by far the Worst Emergency Care Facility Around where the Patients were lined up throughout the hallways of the Bed area and it literally took 8 Hours for him to have a X-Ray and Stitches and they released him without having him go for more thorough imaging, as we found out this August after his ankle swelling never went down. read more

This place is absolutely ridiculous. I had a "reservation " all my information had been entered into the system. 3.5 hours later we walked out. As a health care worker myself there are things that I look for from other caregivers. I did not see any one of the three contacts I encountered wash their hand much less use hand sanitizer. There was an empty glove dispenser on the wall and care givers entered the room wearing gloves. One care giver referenced a restaurant concerning the " reservation". I would never wait even an hour past my time nor would I ever go back to that restaurant. There are no negative stars to give. I am not sure about the diagnosis made at this place. The "not" express care on a Wednesday night. On a week night needing some medical care and waiting 2 hours to be seen. The center is under staffed therefore care is at a crawl. The staff are doing their best but sick people need individualized care. Normally, our Mount Airy, MD drives to Urban, MD for care. The medical staff are very caring and professional. Waited 1 hour 5 min to provide insurance after entering info in the Express Pass Patient Check-in. Then an additional 2 .5 hours to be seen by a doctor. The 2 girls at desk were making sure that no one went to them first. Funny ....just the 2 of them sitting around doing nothing except Poor customer service, and rude personalities. One doctor in the building. My advice let one of the large lazy front desk girls go (eliminate the duplicate process and inefficiency as well as the poor customer service) and put the money towards a NP that can triage urgent care patients and live up to your name ExpressCare. On July 24th I had a fall. My foot and ankle were swollen. My ankle was x-rayed and I was told I had a bad sprain, and to check with an Orthopedist if not getting better in a week or two. The following week I followed up with an Orthopedist and discovered not only was the ankle fractured, but my foot was broken and required surgery. Three months later, my foot has a screw in it, and both ankle and foot are still healing. read more

They say no appointment needed but my son went in at 10 am then they texted him to come back at 7pm. Then he can home and they texted him to come in at 1:00 pm. Then he went there and they said he needed a parent with him ( he's 17). It of course took about 3 hours to get the test and see a dr. Then they gave us an online portal to get results from and if your a minor you can't access it and the guardian does not have the right to see the minors results. read more

My wife went to this practice with a reserved 11:30 "place in line" as they call it, and was told there were only 6 people ahead of her, but was not seen until 3:30 - four hours later, while I waited in the parking lot. They are BULLSHIT. They claim, instead of going to the ER, people should go there so they can receive faster care. NOTHING FARTHER THAN THE TRUTH. We had to wait, when the whole waiting room was empty and there was no patient being seen, for a long time. Then we were taken to the exam room. We had to wait there for another long time. Then we were told the doctor will come, and again we had to wait. The doctor never came. We had to leave because of no service. The funny thing is we had an appointment, 3 hours after the appointment we were still not seen by a doctor. As Susan C. said in her review "Why give appointments if you have no ability to keep them? First of all I had to give 1 star to give review , I would actually give - 2 !!!! Front desk is very pleasant. Now the Med tech in the back is the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with ! I called to advise them about mixing 2 medications that could cause respitory failure and possibly even death , I wanted them to be aware of this for future reference .. I even told them I was calling so they should be very through about patients listing and signing about all medications they are on , what I got was cut off, yelled at and told I was screaming at her which I didn't even raise my voice at all during the conversation !! I had to hold my phone away from my ear while she angrily yelled at a faster rate , so I finally knew she didn't care what I had to say , the customer was not to be listened to or even treated with any respect what so ever !! It was so Bizarre !! After I hung up I was just so , so grateful I didn't have to live with her !!! MNR industries / Express Care was unable to provide proper coding for a simple procedure, which resulted in me having a $200 bill. Express Care's web site says they treat cuts and Tetanus-Diphtheria vaccination (http://www.whywaitintheer.com/services.php). I had to get a simple tetanus shot after puncturing my hand on a rusty knife. I called Urgent Care (Mt Airy) and explained my situation. Express Care made an appointment to make sure that I did not need a stich and receive a tetanus shot since my old tetanus immunization was over 10 years ago. No stich required (which I knew already) and I received a tetanus booster shot. When MNR Industries / Express Care sent the claim, with an improper the PCT code, to my insurance company, the insurance company denied the claim. I called the MNR / Express Care Billing Department and was informed that my insurance company had only one code for the procedure. I was advised to call my insurance company to see they could change the code. I called my insurance company and was told that MNR Industries / Express Care needed to provide a correct PCT code. Kind of unethical for Express Care to say on their website that your insurance is accepted for an advertised service and submit a claim that the insurance company will not accept. It appears that waiting in line is much cheaper and accepted by most health insurances companies. read more

On the 15 of June I went for a accident on my bike. The customer service was horrible, no one was nice and could care less if you where their or not. This is why Odumercare is the worse care in history!!! Thomas Gilbert did clean and my cuts, xray tech was horrible, sent me off the meds and no thank you. Express means " operating at high speed" There is Nothing HIGH SPEED about this. 3 people at the check in counter but they make you use the kiosk! You are not feeling well! Really! Kiosks are for McDonalds!! Came around 6 so they should have staffed appropriately, less deadweight at the counter and use the $$ for an LPN for non emergent situations that come in. Had a wonderful experience at ExpressCare this past weekend. Made an appointment online and filled out all of the paperwork. One thing to know is that the online forms do not automatically populate in this location, so you'll need to fill out the forms when you arrive. Once we were checked in, my daughter's name appeared on an electronic board, so we knew where we were in line to be seen. We didn't have to wait long. All of the staff there were kind and professional. We got a diagnosis and treatment plan, which we were grateful for. read more

My husband had a 3:18 pm appointment, but didn't get called to a treatment room in the back until 4:40 after which he waited another hour before finally seeing a physician's assistant (that's 5:40 for a 3:18 appointment). Why give appointments if you have no ability to keep them? Just do a first come, first served - that way people will expect a long wait. They say "why wait in the ER?" but I ask "is it better to wait for hours in your facility?" I would suggest, as an improvement, that when checking in for an appointment, the patient be told upfront about the current backlogged wait time, giving the patient the ability to assess the situation (i.e. decide to go elsewhere) BEFORE handing over their co-pay. read more
