We decided our duel birthday party for our children would be a carnival theme. We ordered a carousel jumper so we thought a matching cake would be cool. Yelp provided a couple different shops in our area. To Samantha's credit she was very gracious and she responded quickly. We had a back and forth via email going over the particulars. We thought the cake was going to be nice but we had no idea it would be AWESOME!!! The design and colors made the table and the flavor was delicious. Used Exquisite Desserts for my wedding cake (had them deliver to LaQuinta Resort & Spa). they did a phenomenal job matching the gathered fabric of my wedding dress. The cake flavors and freshness was OUT OF THIS WORLD. We had a cake and champagne party day after the wedding poolside with all of our friends. It was just as good Day 2. After a poor meal at a nearby eatery, we stumbled upon Exquisite Desserts. Just what we were looking for. Delicious organic coffee, AMAZING pastries and yummy muffins. Samantha was adorable... warm and friendly. She was trained at the culinary institute in San Francisco and the detail she puts into each and every pastry is over the top. I LOVED her pecan tart! Clearly there is just a bit of high end butter used in the baking process. If I needed a special cake or dessert, this is definitely the place to call. read more

Samantha and her team at Exquisite Desserts do an amazing job are providing desserts which are beautiful to look at and wonderful to eat. I recently used her team for my son's Eagle Scout Court of Honor dessert table. She and Jeanette helped me to design the perfect cake and it exceeded my expectations. It was exactly as I had imagined. They also designed special cookies and cupcakes for the event. At the event the cake was the biggest hit and there was not a morsel left. The thing I like most about this bakery is the fact that their desserts are not so sweet. They typically are more like a European style bakery. They have recently started a retail counter and I go in here at least once a week to get my coffee and something special in the display case. They not only have sweet items but savory as well. Exquisite Desserts were fantastic to work with for a bridal shower I hosted this past weekend. They were very helpful with creating two flavors the bride. Everyone loved the cakes! Not only were they beautiful and went with the whole "rustic" theme, they tasted great too! What we ordered for the party: 1) 6" round funfetti, vanilla butter cake w/ chocolate mousse. Finished in Italian meringue buttercream in a stucco frosted style. 1) 6" round Devils food cake with raspberry mousse, fresh raspberries in the mousse. We had a bachelorette party (weekend) in Palm Springs and I wanted to have a fun cake for the event. I found Exquisite Desserts on Yelp and the rave reviews made my decision easy. They definitely lived up to (and exceeded) their reviews. Samantha was so wonderful to work with; our cake was a bit racy and she handled the communication professionally and never made me feel inappropriate for requesting such a cake. Her staff made the cake EXACTLY as I wanted it and the bride-to-be was blown away by how perfect it was. The guests said it was delicious and couldn't believe a cake that was so decoration-focused was also so yummy! Deciding on a bakery from which to order a cake was confirmed once Samantha quickly returned my call. She was very friendly, patient, and helpful. With her help, I decided on an 8" Strawberry Carousel cake; it was far more attractive than I imagined! The cake's top was attractively adorned with ripe, colorful and plump berries; the sides, with fresh strawberries (revealing something I've never seen -- the inner half of the fruits); the dense whipped cream frosting had delicate designs... and the cake was deliciously fresh and tasty!! We all admired the cake for a while prior to slicing into it. I wish you were closer to home. We know where we're getting our cakes when we're in the desert! read more

The cake we ordered for our parents 50th wedding anniversary was absolutely incredible! Literally everyone had a piece and we only had 2 slices left for my parents to enjoy the next day! We can't believe how they were able to decorate this cake to match the picture we sent them to a "T", but more importantly, it was the best cake I ever tasted! If you're looking around for a bakery near Palm Springs to place a custom cake order, look no further! Exquisite Desserts is great! I was eloping in PS and wanted a small 2 tier cake and was looking for a bakery that could take an order in only a weeks time. I sent over some pictures of what I was going for (teal with gold) and got on the phone with Samantha to talk through flavors and she was very helpful and honest with what will work. I went with a 4inch and 6inch 2-tier cake and the price was exactly what I expected. Top was banana with hazelnut mousse and the bottom was chocolate with chocolate mousse, all covered in Italian meringue buttercream. It was AMAZING! Honestly the best buttercream I've ever had as it wasn't too sweet. The colors and the design were spot on! We brought in flowers for it when we went to pick it up and they put them on for us perfectly. Wow! A friend bought me a beautiful & yummy birthday cake here... Wow! It was so moist & yummy! It was delivered during the time specified. Despite the 100 degree weather, it still arrived chilly! I wanted something special for an upcoming birthday. I ordered a Vanilla Butter Pound round cake with a white chocolate mousse filling. I also had an ombré jagged ruffle done in purple! Went in to pick up the cake today. Oh my, beautiful! Can't wait to cut into this beauty. Directed to let the cake sit out for about an hour before cutting. First bite was delicious. Samantha Ward is the pastry chef/owner of Exquisite Desserts, founded in September, 2000. Samantha graduated from California Culinary Academy in 1993, and began working as a pastry chef in San Francisco. In addition to being European trained, Samantha has received extensive training with World-Famous chefs. She also had the privilege of working with members of the 2001 Coup de Monde championship team. Exquisite Desserts services 20 of the top country clubs in Coachella Valley and is a member of the Greater Palm Springs Wedding Association. They do have a case where the pastries are displayed. They don't have a big selection. A small to medium variety of goodies.

The scotch mallow was the perfect chocolate cupcake stuffed with caramel, topped with marshmallow frosting with a drizzle of caramel on top. The triple chocolate was chocolate with chocolate frosting and then chocolate jimmies. We went here because of all the good reviews and we were disappointed from the start of the appointment. I had called ahead and made an appointment for a tasting for our wedding. I told Samantha that we wanted cheesecake and she was very accomidating over the phone, but as soon as we walked into the shop, she immediatly told us how bad it would be and that the cuts wouldn't be pretty, we hadn't even sat down at this point, when we did sit down we were constantly interrupted by her answering the phone, I understand you have to run a business but have someone else answer the phone. I was beginning to feel she didn't want our business. She continuesly tried to talk us out of a cheesecake wedding cake and when she realized we weren't going to change our minds she tried to save the sale and say that she could do it and it would be wonderful...She NEVER emailed or called me back with the price quote or anything. To top it off another lady walked in and Samantha did say that she was with us and she would be with her shortly, the lady proceded to ask questions which Samantha answered while she was still with us and then the lady actually sat down with us while we were discussing our wedding cake options!!! read more

We hired Samantha to make our wedding cake and it was a great experience! When we went to the tasting, she patiently allowed us to completely customize whatever flavors we wanted. One of the layers ended up as turtle (chocolate with caramel and pecans), which was my favorite. She is really able to get both excellent flavor with a beautiful cake. She delivered our wedding cake right on time and was very professional to work with. The funny thing is, my in-laws arranged a wonderful brunch for our friends and family the day after our wedding and unbeknownst to either of us, they had hired Samantha to make the pastries for that too...and of course, they were wonderful as well! Just EXQUISITE!. I was looking for a bakery to make a cake for my husband's 70th birthday party. Actually set an appointment and met with Samantha. Even had the opportunity to sample some of her cakes. I chose the carrot cake and the chocolate with raspberry cream filling, had two different idea designs, both Roman themed in nature, showed them to Samantha and it was a done deal. She made everything seamless and easy. The two cakes came out perfect in design and taste! My husband was extremely surprised and happy as well as our guests. I was searching for a bakery when my fiance at the time suggested Exquisite Desserts, and after my only phone call with Samantha, I was sure of where I wanted to go. From the moment we entered the bakery, I was overwhelmed with the pictures of all her beautiful work around the front room, and our appointment with Samantha went very well. She allowed so much of our choice, it's almost like she was our personal pastry chef, catering to our very needs. All I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!! I called short notice and the manager Chris made it happen for me in the form of chocolate decadence. Everyone at the party raved about the cake and my mother-in-law who watches every calorie finished hers, her husband even said he has never seen her do that. The cake was moist, rich, fluffy and so delicate yet rich in flavor. If you are in the desert and need a cake look no further than Exquisite desserts, they wear the name well. The topper also arrived leaning to one side with a jagged cut and unfinished back, which was a little disappointing for a centerpiece. In fairness, Dorothy was prompt and polite throughout, and responded kindly when I shared my feedback. She explained she'd taken a more whimsical interpretation of the references and offered 10% off a future order. I appreciated the gesture, though it didn't quite address a piece that didn't match the brief. I've attached my references and the cake I received. For the price and the lead time, I'd hoped for something a little closer to what I sent, so I don't think I'd order again, but I wish her well.

After placing my order, I selected the option to have my receipt texted to me. As has happened before with Crumbl's point-of-sale system, the receipt never came through, so I stood at the counter to ask for a printed copy. Both associates clearly saw me standing there and completely ignored me. This is a very small store. The male associate was making cookies directly behind the register, and the female associate, Meilani, was only a few feet away putting cookies into the refrigerator. Neither one said, "I'll be right with you," asked if I needed something, or acknowledged me at all. I even tipped when I placed my order, which made the experience more frustrating. What exactly are customers being prompted to tip for when basic communication and acknowledgment are missing? I don't expect employees to drop what they're doing immediately, but a simple greeting or "I'll be with you in a moment" is basic customer service. Eventually, I just needed someone to acknowledge me so I could ask for a printed receipt. Customers shouldn't have to work this hard just to get an employee's attention in a tiny store.
