    Pastrami
    Helen Y.

Was recommended to try this authentic Jewish deli and their pastrami. We were seated immediately and our server took our drinks shortly thereafter. Hostess and waitress were both professional and friendly. Our husbands ordered the pastrami, one in the and the other on a Kaiser roll. I split a turkey Sammy with my friend and we also split a root bear float. The pastrami was very tender and tasty and not at all too salty. Rye bread was good but too much bread with the Kaiser roll. Turkey sandwich was very dry and nothing to wow about. They served us pickles at the beginning of the meal which was good. Got a piece of chocolate cake to go as well as their rice pudding. Great experience but sandwiches are not worth the price.

Outstanding desserts and sandwiches, salads and more. We love that they have sugar free cake options. So many sweets and cookies and MORE ! Kind welcoming and helpful behind the counter, nice cozy indoor seating area. Everyone looks like they are enjoying the food and ambiance

Grilled Corned beef Reuben with sauerkraut and a side of Cole slaw
    Rachel H.

There's usually not much overlap between restaurants I get excited to eat at, and those featured by Guy Fieri on his Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Sherman's Deli & Bakery is the rare exception. This old-school Jewish deli (locations in Palm Desert and Palm Springs) handles the classics well. The grilled Reuben is my order: crispy toasted rye packed with corned beef, sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing. The cold beet borscht, loaded with shredded beets and cucumbers and topped with sour cream, is refreshing. My dad loves their chocolate phosphate, which is a classic old soda fountain beverage. The latkes are huge and dense (but not my favorite rendition, as I love a good crisp latke), but everything else works for food nostalgia. Our waitress called everyone "honey," which fit the script perfectly. Save room for dessert: chocolate layer cake or New York cheesecake, or go authentic with four kinds of rugelach--chocolate (good and thankfully, not made with chocolate chips!) cinnamon, raspberry, and apricot.

Perfect pastrami, CHECK! I am the pastrami king of California, and this place does it right. The real new york way. Wife got her bagels and lox. They are legit jewish deli style and i am going back every day im in palm springs. Our waitress was super cool and knowledgeable and it reminds me of how all real deli's should be. I'll have what she's having!

    1/2 Chicken Dinner

Dinner was so delicious we are here on vacation, first stop and glad we came. Great service, great food, no wait with it being dinner rush, clean restrooms, nice AC, big portions, flavorful food, desert to go. Not in picture: dinner salad with homemade ramen included with chicken dinner. & complementary sauerkraut & pickles.

    Knish

Amazing food and service. Everything we ordered was delicious. We ordered the matzo ball soup, knish, pastrami sandwich, hot bbq sandwich, the tuna salad, and original cheesecake. My favorite was the knish - the mashed potatoes were so creamy and the gravy so good! My family actually preferred the bbq sandwich over the pastrami, but I think it's because we didn't add mustard to the pastrami (took it to-go). Everyone loved the matzo ball soup (so perfect for a winter day). I had the tuna salad, which comes with half of the plate of fruit. It's a unique salad and I like it! Everyone also loved the cheesecake. The server was so friendly and checked in on us regularly. He was very thoughtful in providing us plastic utensils to go with our to-go and packed leftovers! We loved this restaurant and would love to go back again while we're in town.

Cornbeef ruben with sauerkraut (don't forget to munch on the pickles they bring out first)

First off, everyone that works here was absolutely kind and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Jenny was our waitress & given that it was later in the evening on the day before Christmas Eve, she was in the best spirits, answered all of our questions and helped us decide what to try on our first visit. It might've been because this was our first meal after a rainy 7 hour drive, but this was hands down some of the best food I've ever had. I'm talking "I want this as my last meal" good. We started with a bowl of the chicken noodle soup with a matzo ball. Fantastic broth, savory and not greasy. The matzo ball was firm yet tender and seasoned well. We then shared the Ruben. Wonderfully tender corned beef, awesome rye, and a perfectly done sauerkraut that didn't overwhelm the sandwich. And the "fries" were excellent too (dip them in the side of thousand island, you won't be mad at me). You won't have room, but when you stop staring at the massive desert display, just bite the bullet and take something home for later.

So glad we decided to come here on our way home from PD. We don't have a nice Jewish restaurant near our home so we decided to check this place out. They do serve breakfast even though on Yelp only displayed their lunch/dinner item menu. Everything from the Cinnamon French toast, Everything Bagel with cream cheese and jam, bacon, cheddar cheese, and avocado omelette & chocolate chip pancakes for the kiddos. Def recommend "Dr Brown's" soda (black cherry) It really hit the spot! It was my 1st Dr. Brown's soda. The deserts looked amazing too. We took some cookies and treats home. Overall , this place is way better than "Breakfast Republic".. wish we would have come here for early Father's Day brunch! This place is a mom/pop shop.. very traditional and not trendy! Geared for children too! The kids meals are the size of an adult meal for the chocolate chip pancakes. Everything is big portion so we got to share couple food items. They actually have a nice kids meal menu to choose from & moderate pricing. Their "Everything Bagel" toasted with cream cheese and strawberry jam is crazy good. Sounds weird, but trust me, it's bomb! I would even try Lox next time & Pastrami sandwich. Everything honestly looked amazing. Thank you for the nice experience.Friendly hostess, waiters, & workers. Can't wait to come back again! Enjoy! L'chayim!

Palm desert folks are so fortunate to have this amazing deli/bakery in their home town. Their menu is full of deli comfort food: pastrami, corned beef, Reuben's, beef dips, matzo balls, cakes, bagels, etc. I was here a year ago and enjoyed a Reuben stacked high with meat and sauerkraut. This visit I had a small bowl of sweet and sour cabbage soup and a beef dip, both warm servings of comfort! Everything is fresh and flavorful. Be sure to say yes when asked if you want pickles. It was busy when we arrived, but we were seated in less than 15 minutes. Parking is a bit limited. When in the area, do not miss Sherman's!

Good food and portions. Have visited the Palm Springs location before and it's more unique, but this one is still good for the food. Had a lot of fat on my pastrami Reuben, but that was the only negative for it. Was told the French dip was flavorless, and needed some sort of sauce to add since the au jus didn't do what it needed to.

    Old Fashioned Cheese Blintzes
    Jacob C.

Went here on a recent vacation. The muffins and soups were all great. Hit or miss on the rest of the dishes. We liked the knishes, but the blintzes, corned beef hash, and other items we had were meh (lox platter and chopped liver) to pretty bad (gefilte fish and breakfast potatoes). Deli omelette was fine. Everything was also pretty pricey. The soups and muffins were so good, though, we went there twice.

This is a must for our family when we come in town. We always come for breakfast. Everyone loves the corn beef and pastrami. And we always leave with some baked goods. Service is always excellent.

    Corned beef Benedict
    Jen S.

Come here every time when I I'm in town. Brunch and breakfast is pretty delicious but the last time we came here I tried the matzo ball soup and that is now my go to even if it's 8 am. The pastrami melts in your mouth and the sandwich provides generous amounts of meat that is so tender sweet and salty id that is even possible. Today we tried the corned beef Benedict and pastrami Benedict. Both were hits and will be my to dishes. The desserts also look amazing. Wish I came with more people so I could buy an entire cake. Service is always amazing and people are so friendly.

You start off wanting cake but once you walk inside to the glass displays, you want everything. That's just me, lol... Besides having a meal, their dessert counter is full of amazing fresh cakes and pastries. I've never picked up a slice to go as most of the time were alway full before even making it to dessert. But lately it's a whole cake for an event ordered from here which is always delicious and amazing. This day, a slice was in the mind. Start of the week, the place was pretty mellow and quiet. Patio seating was basically emptied as it's hot and humid out. Misters were on but everyone was inside. I've been picking up the whole lemon cake for events and it's a crowd pleaser. But this time, something else looked amazing. I actually went with a slice of their blueberry cake. Honest opinion, it looked amazing. The flavors are quite nice but between that and the lemon, lemon takes the trophy. They're both great and delicious, but something about the lemon just hits the right notes. The flavors with the cakes and cream just works. Regardless what cakes or pastries you choose, they're all great. Portions are quite massive and decent priced. It's a sweets haven for all you sugar lover.

My husband and I shared the #17 with corned beef, pastrami, turkey, coleslaw and 1000 Island dressing, along with their homemade chicken soup with a matzo ball. Everything tasted fresh, the meats were great quality, and there was more than enough food for the two of us. Our granddaughter ordered the children's turkey sandwich with fruit, and even her meal was enormous. We definitely laughed when we saw the size of a "kids" sandwich! We also brought home a slice of their sugar-free San Jacinto cake from the bakery, and it was absolutely scrumptious. I would go back for that alone. Great quality, fresh food, huge portions and a classic deli experience. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Palm Springs.

It was close to end of day so I was quick to browse the offerings before placing my sandwich order. Ended up getting a Caprese and Parma on focaccia. The staff seemed preoccupied with Cleaning but did their best to get my sandwich order out fast. I've heard nothing but good things about this place but this is my first time. I asked the lady behind the counter for a popular favorite recommendation and she seemed confused and just said everything was good. Two sandwiches around $40 so I was hoping for something great. Unfortunately we agreed that the taste was good, but nothing amazing and probably not what we were expecting for the price. Everything fell just a little bit flat. It wasn't bad but it wasn't memorable either. I ended up drizzling balsamic vinegar on the Caprese at home since they only put olive oil and a little bit of pesto on the bread and the whole thing just felt lacking ever so slightly. The shop itself was clean and well kept and had a lot to offer so I still recommend stopping by and browsing for Italian goodies. Just not my favorite sandwich spot. Maybe we will try something else another day or just stick to the pasta!
