I was scared of dentists for most of my life. When I finally found Dr. Phelan @ Exquisite Smiles, I couldn't have been happier. ALL the staff go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. Procedures are explained very thoroughly, which alleviates a great deal of anxiety. Before any work is done, they go over your record, asking if there have been any changes to your health, current medications, etc. They're always asking "Are you okay?" or "Do you need anything?" or just stop when you signal to ask a question or take a breather. They never "dismiss" you and listen very carefully to anything you need to convey. (That's a HUGE plus in my book!) Compassion & quality time are first and foremost. MALPRACTICE. NEGLIGENCE. UNETHICAL. BUSTED MY (previously healthy) JAW which is KILLING MY JAW, NECK and HEAD. PERMANENT, CONSTANTLY VERY PAINFUL INJURY. My good quality of life was shot to hell by these incompetent, uncaring frauds. UNACCEPTABLE. SHAMEFUL. You know you and your office blew it, Tyler, and wouldn't own up to it! I paid a huge price before I could get out of there! Lifelong injuries, pain and more medical issues and bills. Deceptive and experts at CYA. ---------Incompetent, insincere and haughty office "manager," Jenn, has serious issues, lies and does not care about patient health. Insults customers. Shocking how she gets away with it and shows no remorse. A fraud. -------DISHONEST, HARMFUL and DEFICIENT business/medical practices. Dental work always results in more physical problems and cost. Poor communication and explanation of procedures, risks and follow-up care. Always a new dental assistant who lacks competency. Office frequently over-charges and regularly makes last minute (even the day of) appointment changes, then, falsely shifts blame to the customer. Perform procedures w/o customer's prior knowledge of cost. Lie about cost. Complete disregard for how their incompetency and errors very negatively impact the patient. -------FAKE nice. Manipulative. NOT TRUSTWORTHY. Never take accountability or apologize for wrong-doings and excessive "mistakes." No empathy. Always trying to cover their 'you know what.' When the only dentist that I've ever been to retired, he referred us to Dr. Phelan. I've always enjoyed going to the dentist (call me crazy) but was hesitant to go someplace new, but all my fears were cast aside when I met Dr. Phelan and his staff. The staff is SUPER friendly and make you feel very welcome. They even had the idea to schedule my families cleaning appointments at the same time so no one has to wait for the anyone to be finished and we can get on with our day. GENIUS!! (They have multiple dental hygienists that handle the cleanings) They also make it easy to connect with them and can send you reminders by phone, text, or email - your preference. They are kid friendly and have exercised kindness and care when in appointments with my kids to ensure they have wonderful interactions here and feel safe and comfortable in the dentist chair. A few other reviews mention that the pricing scale may be a bit more than other places - to be honest, I've never been concerned with the cost, but I would never sacrifice my comfort or peace of mind to save a few bucks. The care and support you receive here is worth every penny. Pro tip: They have a referral program, so each time you refer a new patient there's something in it for you (to date, I've referred almost a dozen friends and coworkers!) I have been to many dentist offices in the past many many years...this is by far the best dentist office I have ever been to. Dr Phelan has a great staff working for him, at the front desk and inside. Everyone is genuinely friendly and caring. I had been avoiding returning to the dentist for many years, despite some serious issues that interfered with my life and caused a great deal of pain. Unfortunately, the dentist I saw prior to becoming a patient at Exquisite Smiles put me through enough torture that I developed an overwhelming fear, and I was willing to accept the fact that tooth pain would just become a daily part of my life. Unfortunately, there did come a day when returning to the dentist became unavoidable. In more pain than I could tolerate, I began to search for a new dentist nearby, and was impressed by the reviews for Exquisite Smiles. I still worried the experience would not be the same for me, but was relieved to hear such a friendly, concerned voice pick up the phone. I finally felt I had found a dental office that was not going to criticize all I had done to damage my teeth in the past, or make everything about money and insurance battles. That phone call was enough to get my feet through the door, and I was not let down in the slightest. I felt comfortable the entire visit, and my concerns due to past experiences were truly heard and understood. I was able to get an emergency appointment and exam scheduled the same day I called, then return two days later for the procedure. I was never once in pain, and felt the best effort possible was made in every aspect. The details of each visit, cost, and best schedule for insurance coverage were clearly documented and explained. I was surprised to find the cost was much lower than I had feared. I'm happy I found Exquisite Smiles, and now realize that a trip to the dentist doesn't have to be stressful, painful, or even involve criticism. I plan to return many times to complete all the work that I've been putting off for years, and am relieved to be out of a great deal of pain just days later. I can't say enough good things about this practice I was in excruciating pain for almost 3 months not Knowing the source of my pain I was chasing a headache when after seeing doctor after doctor I finally started to understand that this might be a it might be a dental problem my previous dentist couldn't get me in For almost a1 1/2 to 2 months I Google searched for my area this practice got me right in diagnose me with TMJ disorder and got me out of pain my 1st visit I can't thank this practice enough They are personable professional knowledgeable I'm so happy I'm bringing my husband and son now to the practice I highly recommend for anyone looking for a dentist in this area. read more

I first want to say that the building is nicely decorated and the office staff is super friendly. The dentist was nice and gave his honest opinion about the dental work needed. He gave me all options and prices. The reason I am giving only 4 stars is the price. He is the highest priced dentist in the area. I called several places towards Mansfield and Foxboro and his price was $200 more then the other dentists. They ranged from $900 to $1300 and he was almost $1600. I am a little upset because his office was the only office that wouldn't give me a price or estimated price prior to making an appointment, so I paid $156 for nothing. It was a waste of time and money. If I had known his prices were that high, I would have gone elsewhere. Other then that, he has a great staff and nice location. read more

I discovered Dr. Phelan after some research to find a great dentist for my husband. We sat in for consultation and felt that Dr. Phelan was the definitely the right choice. His demeanor was more that of an incredibly likable guy who happens to know everything about dentistry, as opposed to some lab coat who was all business. My husband has begun treatment and is very happy. I hadn't been to a dentist in 8 yrs, after experiencing tremendous pain at the hands of another dentist's office. I sucked it up, and called Dr. Phelan's office for my own appointment. ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN. The staff is great, and the hygienist, CherylI was incredibly gentle. I'm a patient for life. I was new in town and hadn't been to the dentist in at least three years. Dr. Phelan and all his staff are very knowledgeable, adept and friendly. I feel as though I got great dental care. They also make it really easy by scheduling your next appointment and by providing text and or email notifications prior to the appointment. Only bad things are there is always a considerable wait if you make an afternoon appointment (my experience was at least 20 minutes). Due to some insurance changes, I had to see a different dentist in RI last year. That dentist, who was also good, told me that "whoever was your previous dentist did an exceptional job". that is quite an endorsement! The second dentist probably was practicing for at least 25 years, so he is probably a great judge of dentistry! Then I had a terrible toothache that I thought was an earache at first. by the time I called Dr. Phelan's office it was brutally painful. I went to Dr. Phelan yesterday with a really bad toothache that I had for a day and a half. It was in the area of two broken teeth in my mouth. I told him how petrified I was of dentists in general so he suggested going to an oral surgeon to have the root tips removed because I would have the option of being sedated for the procedure. It was all set up for this coming Thursday (3 days from the original visit) but late last night when novocaine he had given me wore off, I was in such immense pain that I couldn't stand it. My husband called their after hours number and told them about the pain I was in. Deb returned our call almost right away and said waiting until Thursday wouldn't work and they would see first thing in the morning if they could find a surgeon that could fit me in same day! They couldn't find one so they called me back and told me to come into the office at noon today. Dr. Phelan took his time explaining everything he was going to do and took a lot of care making sure I was very numbed up before he started. All in all, it wasn't as bad as I had made it out to be in my head. Dr. Phelan is an unbelievable dentist and very gentle! He even called me at 7pm from Fenway Park to see how I was doing and said I was a trooper today lol I hadn't been to the dentist in 30 years. That's how petrified I was/am of dentists. He has changed that for me and I will continue going to him until I have a healthy mouth once again, as well as the smile I used to have. Thank you so so so much! read more
