Here's what I think about this place. PROS: PRICING: I did some shopping around and called places like Public Storage and a few mom and pop shops around the area and ended up here because the pricing is just so darn good for the unit. EFFICIENCY: The whole process what just so easy. First, I called the phone number to go over pricing and made the reservation. Second, drove down to the unit to book everything and sign paperwork. Third, piled stuff into the unit and called it a day...easy enough. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The phone rep was incredibly nice and great at her job. She asked questions that helped her guide me to the right unit and was just very pleasant. The onsite rep was also very friendly and quick with the paperwork. She was very knowledgeable and knew what she was doing. CONS: There is a required insurance premium that you have to pay if you don't already have home or renters insurance. I understand why you need the insurance but it's a bit over priced...I was forced to pay $13 a month for a 5ft x 10ft unit when you can get waaaay better cover for around $25 a month! When we showed proof of insurance they wouldn't give a refund for insurance that I hadn't used! Normally, insurance companies will give partial refunds if you can prove you have other insurance. That seems like a rip off to me! CONSENSUS: Price is good and customer service is good so they have my business for now. I just wish they had a better system of handling the insurance thing. read more

Be careful of the bait and switch that this company does period I signed up in november on a rate that I was comfortable with.And we barely started february, and my rate went from $112 to $212. And they are telling me that this is a standard increase. A standard increase to me would be fifteen twenty dollars, fine whatever but a hundred?!! When I first reserved a storage space here, I was given a quote over the phone. They give you a few days before the quote expires to pay for the unit. I called before it expired so that I could pay for and move into the unit. However, the price I paid was higher than quoted due to the unit I selected being rented out. What's the point of a reservation and quote, if you can't abide by it?! Secondly, I've only been a customer for 4 months and just received notice that my rent is increasing by 100%. When I called to discuss this increase, the lady over the phone responded with: "oh you must be new to storage, that's how it works" I am not new to storage, I'm just new to this one. And any other time I'd had rent increases at other facilities it was never 4 months in. She proceeded to tell me it won't be my last one of the year, and should expect another before the end of the year. So not only did I NOT get my reserved, quoted price when I first rented. My rent is going up 100% after the first 4 months and another, however much, before the end of the year. That's two increases in less than a year. Previous rating still stands. Prices have continued to be raised and the our items have not been safe. Now we have to empty the storage room for future cancellation of our contract with this company, but also because our belongings have been destroyed by the rat infestation. Our room is indoors and supposedly climate controlled and pest controlled. I am disgusted by the conditions of these storage rooms and more importantly the conditions my property is now in. It is unsafe and a health hazard for us to use anything we have stored in here. With the exception of items in plastic, sealed bins, we will have to discard of our belongings. We have insurance but with this company's reviews I foresee a problem with us receiving compensation for damage clearly within their responsibilities. I do not recommend this place at all. I gave it a one star because I have to rate it. But in my opinion it doesn't deserve any stars. read more

Rat infestation. The indoor halls smell like pee. Rats live in here. Our stuff got destroyed by rats. There is poop everywhere in our unit. We have had out stuff in here for almost 2 years and are finally ready to get it out when we discovered this. They are not going to do anything about it and said talk to their insurance. Our items were damaged and soil by rats. They were notified months ago about this issue and previously and fail to handle it as a result even more of our property was damaged and ruined it has cost us thousands of dollars at this point, we are extremely upset and their office person James clearly didn't care either. Someone clearly moved in to the storage facility and left food items or whatever and management was notified and they never resolve the issue and as a direct result not only was items within our unit damaged but in the surrounding units as we spoke to multiple occupants who were having similar issues, don't utilize this facility. read more

We put my mom's stuff in storage because she moved in with us 6 months ago. Mostly furniture, clothes, and household items. We went last week to get our Christmas decorations and there was rat feces and pee everywhere! They have a serious rat infestation! Now that I'm seeing the other reviews it is clear that they just don't care! They told us that they wouldn't be responsible for cleaning it up and if we wanted to hire someone it would be very expensive. Called the insurance and they haven't called back! So upsetting and so irresponsible on their part. I've never had this issue with other storage places. read more

I have had the worst experience with EXTRA SPACE, and as a result I am moving my things out the weekend of July 25th. This storage/company has changing daily rates which is complete trash. You get a "deal" one day only for it be different the next. They are constantly increasing their storage rents so high (like everything else in this ridiculous state) and claiming to meet "market rates with their competitors" but the truth is they are greedy and charge for everything. Under their rent increases, they claim to send out 30 day notices via postal mail but I never received any notice at all informing me of an increase (I check my mail frequently), and they've increased my rent multiple times. They are quick to send you an email notification to inform you when payment is due but are poor in informing their tenants with price increases. Meanwhile, you learn of your unit increase when you go to pay your next month's rent. This latest increase was my final straw in dealing with them. I currently rent a 10x30 unit which is already ridiculously expensive at f****** $337.70 per month but as of Friday (17th) I learned my rent was increased to $367.70, and again they claim to have sent a notice but there was nothing received. I was pissed about this but made the payment as my due date is the 20th and called them (later that day) to find out why the payment increased yet again in an already expensive unit. They just continued with a non-empathetic bull**** apology without any care or consideration that we are in the middle of a pandemic. At this point because of this price increase, I had considered downsizing my unit to save money where possible because my employer reduced my salary due to covid which has affected me financially. However, I was fed up with the terrible back-to-back experiences to date, and I immediately decided to (plan to) move stuff to a different storage/company. I informed the office that I have plans to vacate the unit come 7/25 and that I should be pro-rated since I just made a payment. They informed me that because I dit not give them 10 days notice, there will be no pro-rated refund. This pissed me off because again--pandemic, financial cuts, expenses impacted, and again this facility gives zero f**** about the hardships people are facing right now. Damn near $370 gone from this greedy facility. In all my past experiences with various storage units, EXTRA SPACE is by far the worst one I have ever dealt with. I left the office so livid (and stressed) this morning (19th) and have been in contact with corporate/district office over this. I do NOT recommend anyone rent with EXTRA SPACE but I understand everyone has different experiences so rent at your own risk OR save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. read more

I'm only rating a 3 star because we have not moved our items to storage unit yet or really interacted with staff EXCEPT for the Teresa the Manager. I originally called the West Stockton location and they were very helpful with information that I needed as far as storage unit sizes and pricing. I actually first spoke with someone and got disconnected so then I called again I got Sonia. She was very helpful with information. She even suggested a larger unit to store 2 units that I have in another city to one unit at a great rate. It was first come first serve but she was able to reserve it for me in the mean time. Then the next day we went Power Inn location and met Teresa who was pleasant and professional and she was easy to talk to and she made it easy to sign up. read more

This storage space is infested with RATS! My belongings were ruined forcing me to file a claim because thank GOD I purchased insurance however the insurance company they go through is HORRIBLE! I have been trying to reach my claim adjuster for weeks with no response. I definitely wouldn't use this storage again! The only thing good about this place is the friendly staff. read more

1 star because you have to put something. The manager is the absolute worst. She doesn't listen to your concerns, and is extremely rude. Our unit was damaged by one of the multiple leaks throughout their property (YES, I looked all over the property) and there were RAT droppings everywhere. They also raise the rent constantly.... and I don't need the autobot to respond to this telling me about the nonexistent pest control company or that you're sorry to hear about this review. Same problem as other reviewers. All of my stuff destroyed by rat infestation. I'm still paying my ridiculously high rent until I can get all of my (now trash) belongings out and to the dump. Highly recommend readers rent elsewhere, unless you put everything in very durable containers and don't mind the urine/feces. Disgusting, I've never had this happen with all the storage facilities I've rented. My parents also have a storage in this facility that I unfortunately recommended them to get, and they had to throw a good portion of their stuff away as well for rats. One quick note on my edit- The office staff is very pleasant, and they have always tried to answer my questions. My review has nothing to do with the on-site team. read more

Great people working here! I rented a 10 by 20 unit for a year and always enjoyed speaking with the great gals behind the counter. Always professional and provided the exact assistance I needed at times. Only issue: rodents must have recently become a problem as unit had droppings the day I vacated the unit. read more

Unfortunately, I opened up my storage unit to move my items out after having sat in there since July of 2020, so 1 year and 5 months and all of my beds, box springs and a chair have been ruined by rats. Rats are through my items, one was found dead by our movers and there is rat feces everywhere. NOT COOL! I didn't spend roughly $180 per month to have these items ruined. I could have burned my belongings and saved myself the money and the trouble. This is utterly disgusting and disappointing! read more

I am giving this business 5 stars due to the 2 women that work the office when I remember their names I will include them in my re edited version of my review. I actually forgot to update my credit card so when I needed payment on an auction that I won of their units they were so very helpful and patient. They helped everywhere they possibly could and I can't say enough how much I appreciated that. They had numerous other tasks to perform but they made sure that I was one of the 1st to be taken care of , it was nice. read more

Rat droppings everywhere! They don't even sweep up the droppings in the inside hallways, it's been sitting there for weeks.

I couldn't find the one on E. Stockton Blvd in Sacramento. BEWARE: the rates go up every 6 months about $20 or so. We have had to have our things in storage for 3 1/2 yrs now. And every 6 months the rates have gone up. Just got a notice that it is going up $40 this time. The units are clean and the staff at E. Stockton Blvd has a high turn around. So some have been great, others well they were special. Just be aware that your rates WILL go up every 6 months. read more

Everyone has been super friendly and accommodating--both over the phone and in person. I was able to reserve the last drive-up 10X10 unit online and got a "web deal" that is cheaper than any of the other storage companies around. Never in my life have i been lied to like i was by this rip off artist. I was told there was the first month free on the phone. When i get the, nope not eligible. Then i was told all i had to do was let then know when i was moving out and i would get the remaining party of the month back. Nope. I paid my month three days before moving out, i was expecting to stay the month but didn't need to after all. I was told i had to give written notice. When i called them out on it, they stumbled all over themselves and lied over and over. I called corporate and gave two surveys and absolutely nothing. I'm out over a hundred dollars and I found out they rented my unit the very same day. Hmmmm I thought that was illegal. Never again. read more

The management team is great, its the billing department that is HORRIBLE! For one your rates are increased at the 5 month mark and then again every 9 months. Mine jumped from $75 to $82 for a 5x10. I even tried calling corporate who was great but then the send you back to California who is useless! Find another place to store your stuff. They sound good in the beginning but the rates go up and up. read more

We are very happy with the service and cleanliness of this facility. We worked with Jenny and she was fantastic. You can see she cares about her job and clients. The prices were better than other storages in the area. I dropped a glass piece in our storage and they let me borrow a broom to clean it up. It's easy to get in and out of. We feel that our belongings are safe there. We also feel safe there. We highly recommend this Extra Storage facility. read more

My stuff is safe; the staff is always helpful, knowledgeable. I asked a few questions regarding safety and pests; the staff was able to inform me of the monthly pest control and the incredible surveillance system they have. Alarms that are deactivated by YOUR gate code and so forth. Great place. read more

I rented a unit at the E. Stockton facility and that evening while putting my stuff in, my car battery died after leaving lights on to see storage unit. It was after hours (8pm) which the gate closes at 10pm. I needed to ask if my roadside assistance came would they be able to get in/out if after 10pm. I tried to reach someone at the afterhours number 5x but no one answered. Thought great managers/security on site as her husband came out and stated he had cables and eluded to the fact he could assist, just wait for her return. She talked/treated me like i was an escaped convict when she came to see why i was at the gate @ 10pm after waiting on her for 2 hrs. She ran up to me yelling about what the rules are, contacting the afterhours number, her husband and conflict of interest. She did not let me explain nor ask my question, I never needed her for anything else. I (we) never seen such unprofessionalism in my life, I did not yell or raise my voice. She did not act so negatively when she took my $ for a new unit. The division mangers stated that because it was after hours and no one answered the phone, it was okay for her to be so hostile, yell, inconsiderate and to have an attitude with customers. Maybe it must be a miscommunication but if i couldn't get a word in, it was her miscommunicating. read more
