I saw an advertised price for a unit at $50 and spent over an hour on the phone with a representative to confirm it. I even PAID for the unit over the phone and cleared out my old storage space to move in. When I arrived, they refused to honor the $50 price I already paid and tried to force me into a $300 rate instead. When I asked them to give me the unit I had a reservation for, they completely ignored me and tried to send me to a different location miles away. The staff on-site was incredibly rude and unprofessional. When I asked to speak to a district manager to resolve the lie, they refused to help. To make matters worse, it took 3 days just to get my refund back. They lure you in with fake prices, take your money, and then leave you stranded with your belongings and no unit. Save yourself the stress and go to a company with actual integrity."

They offer a variety of boxes and organizational tools. Storage units are clean and have easy access. One thing: If you rent a van or truck, don't accidentally pack the key. Do what you must to keep tabs on it at all times. They keep no duplicates. You will have to call a locksmith, get Uhaul's approval, and have a specialty key made to the tune of $275. Thank goodness I found it!!! Yet, the staff was still courteous, and put up with my insane rambling (rush project).

The woman at the counter responded "well ALL cars leak anyway" Huh? "My daughter's car leaks. My car leaks, Thank God the cars I have driven for the past 50 years must have been unusually water proof or maybe I've just been the luckiest SOB on wheels. Needless to say: 1: There was no attempt to even apologize 2: Their justification (all cars leak) was insulting in the sense that the woman must have thought we just escaped from a mental institution to believe her defensive response, Today I contacted U haul's customer service and was helped by a very professional person who listened and proposed working solutions, apologizing for our rude treatmen. An hour later I received a call from Dan at the Grayslake location who 1: Told me they sprayed the truck with a garden hose with no results. 2: I asked Dan if he actually believed the nonsense about every automobile in the world filling the seats daily in deluges. He had all the opportunity to walk this back but didn't. 3. I asked if he was proud of these responses and he held to his stance 4. Dan told me to "find the red pamphlet and make a claim. SORRY, DAN: To coin a phrase, "it just doesn't wash. Final advice: If faced with the choice of renting a truck from Grayslake U-Haul or tying your load on your shoulders for a cross country hike buy some good walking shoes.

I had a very good relationship with the original owner (who was a Marine). He passed away 2 or 3 years ago. His son has since taken the business over and is doing a good job. I probably go to my storage units on average once a month. I have a lot of stuff in storage. I feel that the staff at ABC have been consistently personable and supportive with me through all my years there. Whenever a problem arose and I asked for assistance they came through for me. I will never forget one particular time the original owner went above and beyond to assist me when I had to move a piece of furniture out. I really feel the people who work at ABC are kind people. The current facility manager, JoAnn is very professional in the way she serves the customers. She has always been accommodating and helpful. The overhead door was getting difficult for me to lift up and JoAnn had it fixed in a timely manner. Quite a while ago I had another storage in Palatine. The customer service at that storage wasn't always consistently friendly. Then some years back - (when the prices at the storage in Palatine started going up too high)- I ended up having to move all the contents of that particular storage to ABC in Round Lake as well. I did end up saving enough money to justify the hassle and cost of moving a very large storage (which was a nightmare). At the time I started with ABC their prices were better than the other places I had checked out in the general area. I honestly have not checked prices in some years, but I do feel the staff at ABC has always made me feel like a valued customer.
