Take your business to any other company because you will have a hard time getting a call returned or questions answered because the staff is not experienced with customer service skills or how the company operates. I called national archives and spoke to Brad who gave me an estimate over the phone. I was shocked at how reasonable their prices were. I scheduled a pick up a few days later and they came and took our 14 boxes from the basement without a problem and were so kind and courteous. 3 days later I got the certificate that all our documents had been shredded. Even though she wanted to discuss it further, I didn't carry on the conversation after the initial sentences because I felt it was not going to improve things. However, I was incorrect. When my wife asked for a smaller unit, we were told that there were none available on the first floor. When my wife asked if I wanted an upstairs unit, I said I didn't. The lady there went in to high gear to make sure we were going to be satisfied and not move to another storage company. She tried hard to find a solution. Even to the point of calling a customer who had reserved a unit on the first floor to see if they would take one on the second floor. It all worked out thanks to her. The other customer said they would take the upstairs unit and I could have the one downstairs. Kudos.

As a result of their late arrival, we ended up in our apt until late on Friday night so they could complete the move-out. Despite (a) 2 in-person visits to our apartment in our effort to get a realistic "guaranteed maximum price" proposal and (b) following such visits, our having disposed of much of our furnishings, etc., which substantially reduced their workload from the date of their proposal, after packing up our property, IMove nonetheless charged a substantial amount more than their "guaranteed" price which we we were compelled to pay in order to get our property stored and delivered. Then, upon delivery of our property to our new home, numerous items were either missing or broken. IMove has refused to accept responsibility for any of the above.

This was my first time hiring movers and J & G Moving exceeded my expectations! The move went so…read moresmoothly that I highly recommend them. I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. These guys provide excellent customer service and I was very impressed by them.
