Excellent service here today after looking at a number of other storage facilities in town. I neglected to get the name of the young man who helped me, but it was on October 8 at around 3 o'clock. As I pulled up, he was putting up a sign to go to lunch and he took the time to give me my keys and enter me into the system, which I thought was very kind, especially given how New Mexico usually operates. The unit itself is well priced and very clean. The security at the property is excellent with monitored cameras and a sturdy high electric gate. I am renting my unit for about six months. This company is a stand out facility given how useless the other locations in town are for self storage. Most of them are broken down dumps very little security. This place is clean, well run, and extremely attractive by comparison. read more

I am very grateful to have found Extra Space. I found myself in a dire situation and Will Long the manager bent over backwards to accommodate my needs. The property as well as bathroom on premises is immaculate and I was very impressed to say the least. I feel very safe when I need to go to my unit knowing all cameras are working properly. I am confident to leave my belongings for an extended period of time and am assured they patrol the grounds. Thank you again Will and the other employees who work there. Go some where else. The garbage is always locked. They only allow two bags of trash. When you want them to open the trash, you have to set a time and they are always late, so that's about 10 to 20 min wasted. When they get there, they will just stand there and watch you and count every piece of trash. I'm like why don't you just get a bigger trash bin or another one and make everyone's life easier. The bathroom is always locked. I've seen a few of the storages get burglarized even tho it's in a gated area. read more

I like Extra Space Storage and have been a customer for 3+ years. The website is functional and Patricia was very nice on the phone. I'm happy with the space, its clean and safe and convenient. The cost increases are a risk associated with any business, and its a decent value compared to other storage facilities I have purchased from. Caveat emptor--they raised my rates from $220 to $353 over the span of a year without any notification whatsoever. Gave me the line of "we're trying to expand our business" and "bringing our pricing in line with the industry" --blah, blah, blah--also note that they will not prorate your fee regardless of when you move out. So if you are billed on the 11th of the month and move out on the 12th--tough luck cookie.--no money back regardless. There is a much better, cheaper, reliable, locally owned storage company that just opened, I suggest you use them. And they have inside storage with dollies, etc. to help you move in and out. Really 4.5 stars!! Very nice and safe storage facility. It is kept quite clean. All units are easy to access. Only downside is the rent is a bit high, but they are will to work with you on this. Each unit is spacious and sealed off from the adjoining units. read more

We've used this place multiple times and highly recommend. It is easy to use with convenient hours (longer than posted office hours) and easy access. The facility is clean, well-lit and feels very safe. Devereaux (sp?) at the desk is super helpful. All thumbs up - would use them again. read more

The setting feels safe and private since it is set far back from the street. No inside lights so I bought a rechargeable one from Home Depot. A moving co parks trucks there which is very convenient. Alex checked me in quickly after choosing. They seem attentive and patient to work out what's best for you. read more

BEWARE OF CONTRACT!! You must give Extraspace 10 days notice prior to moving out. Once they bill for the month, you won't get a even partial refund. I was billed $208 for a month I will not use. According to headquarters, some Extraspace storage locations will refund your month's rent in my situation up to 3 days after they bill, but not the location on Pacheco St in Santa Fe. I notified them 3 days after I received the billing but alas, no partial refund. The corporate headquarters and the Pacheco office gave me different information regarding the possibility of a refund. My initial impression of this facility was good. I rented an 8x10 unit in 2012 for $88/month. Within the next 4 years my monthly rent for the same unit had climbed to $168/month, and management said to expect further annual increases. When I moved out of my unit I was promised a refund of the unused portion of my monthly paid-in-advance rent, which should have been about $140. Two months later, after repeated requests, I have still not received the refund. I can't recommend renting from Extra Space. Their business model seems to be to offer a reasonable move-in deal and then, when you have all your stuff settled, start milking you for all they can get, figuring you'll just pay rather than face the hassle of moving your stuff somewhere else. 12/31/2016--I will amend my review as of today by noting that a refund of my unused rent was finally posted to my credit card account earlier this month. I appreciate that, but my other comment about the escalating rent still applies. read more

Initial price was the lowest I could find in that part of town, but it went up 50% in three years! Also, they are cinder block, flat roof buildings that leak. I told them it was leaking and they said they fixed it but did not. When I moved out the wall behind my bins was moldy. The prices Extra Space offer look good up front, but don't be naive. I signed up for a unit about 3 years ago, for 88 bucks, only to have the rent consistently creep up. Within 6 months it was up to $102, and just past a year it was $110. That's a 24% price increase. After only another 9 months they raised it another 8 dollars, which would have made it a walloping 32% in less than 2 years. Although I was able to get them to hold it to 110. for a while, they are now getting their price. Trying to negotiate with the company concerning such matters is like trying to get Starbucks to turn down the air conditioning. They cannot as its controlled by corporate. Same here. Even though the folks at this site are super nice (and they tried!), they're bound by the policies & price increases that corporate enforces. Storage unit companies know people are not apt to up and move all their things out on a whim, so they know they can get by with it. To make the price increase even more poignant, I recently saw an ad for the same size unit I have for 80 a month - if I were a new customer! As soon as I can move my things out, I will, because I do not agree with their business practices. read more

Clean functional storage with nice local staff. Only one problem: the corporation has developed an algorithm that lets it automatically raise the monthly rental prices with minimal renters getting mad and dropping out. Our rental rates went sky high after three years...we finally caught on and moved to a different unit in the same space for half of what we were paying. Extra Space leads you in with a $1 move in price and then after you have been there for a few months you get one rate increase after another. looks good when you drive in: competitive rates, clean property and gated. not until you sign up do they tell you about the administrative fee and the insurance fee. after you move your stuff in the rate increases start! convenient for short term storage, but after a few months the rates rise relentlessly! considering storage for several months? save your time and money--go elsewhere! read more
