Used them for years for regular exams, then had to have cataract surgery. Dr. Leoncavallo used wrong upgraded lens. When other eye was done, he tried using another upgraded lens to compensate for the wrong one and eyesight was worse. After paying $3000 extra for the Johnson & Johnson upgraded lens we requested a refund which he gave us a sob story it would come out of his pocket... no regard for messing up my eyesight. He finally refunded us but when we returned for follow-up scheduled appointment he refused to see us and had nurse tell us we did not have an appointment. Total lack of integrity and honesty. No improvement in eyesight and he still got paid by Medicare and supplemental insurance. read more

My appointment for cataract surgery was cancelled twice. My hubby and I still work and have other appointments we've had to change twice. It's frustrating but I realize stuff happens. Probably best not to schedule around the holidays. read more

I called with an emergency this morning and request to be seen and the girl handling the call. Let me know that she was in training. The other staff refused to speak with me and told her to tell me the first available appointment was in September and recommended that I call another office to be seen. I have never in my life, experienced a phone call like this completely unprofessional and after this, I would never reach out to them for my healthcare. read more

The reason for only 1 star is the office experience. The front office staff interact with each other like a sitcom cast. I was unable to hear the questions from the staff member checking me in due to the "chaos" and breakroom noise from the 5 other staff members (standing 6 feet away) completely ignoring the patients trying to sign in. My wife and I tried to dismiss this as a "one-off" incident. Unfortunately, we were mistaken. On my follow up post surgery, the front desk staff was outright rude and uninterested in providing professional, compassionate care. The receptionist at the front desk did not let my wife finish explaining who I was post surgery. The receptionist just interrupted my wife saying "He eat yet?" No care or concern for us as people - zero compassion - just checking the box. When you go in be sure to be ready to stand your ground and demand that they act like they are in a doctor's office and not the lunch room. The last comment I'll make about the check in process is that this is 2025 where I can get checked in at Quest Diagnostics via a text or an iPad app in the office. Yet, an eye center expects patients with eye problems to hand print their name on a pull tab with all the chaos going on in the office "pit" behind the desk. Eye Center South needs to update to electronic tools with large font to allow sight challenged people to check in without having to be ignored by the front desk staff too interested in each other to even notice a patient. read more

Bad experience. I made the mistake of scheduling an appointment on a Friday. Out of 5 doctors only one was working. I spent 2 hours in the waiting room. The waiting room was full. The doctor spent less than 5 minutes. No drops no dilating, no pressure check. on his way out the door he said he was prescribing medicated drops. No duration, no or little info. had to call my doctor back home to get help. I would not recommend this clinic or trust them with my eye care. They have not provided the doctor's notes. Keep coming up with excuses. read more

My experience with Dr. Leoncavallo could not be better. I have been going to him for a number of years. I have Glaucoma and I was scared to death when I first went to see him. There was a young lady who sat down beside me that day and when she realized how nervous I was she began telling me her story. She had been to doctors in Dothan, Pensacola and several other cities. She was almost completely blind and all of the doctors told her that they could not do anything else for her. She was preparing to live as a blind person when one of the doctors referred her to Dr. Leoncavallo. She was there that day to get her drivers license back. He had put tubes in her eyes for drainage and she got her sight back in one eye and the other eye was continuing to improve. It was such a blessing to me to hear her story and I knew I was in the best of care. Since then he has treated my Glaucoma and also done cataract surgery on both eyes. He is such an excellent doctor. Eye Center South always had the most professional, qualified, courteous people taking such good care of all of its patients when I first started going there. However, all of the qualified people seem to have vanished and been replaced. They are not the friendly, competent crew that used to be there. Worst of. all, the office staff is not only incompetent; some of them are very rude. Dr. Leoncavallo recently did cataract surgery on my husband and I had some questions about one of the eye drops he needed to use before surgery. I called two days in a row; got the answering service and left my name, phone number and reason for the call. I requested a call back both days and NEVER got a call. On the day of my husband's surgery a nurse at the surgery center and Dr. Leoncavallo both answered my questions. My concern now is that if we had an emergency with our eyes--no one at Eye Center South would answer the phone and we could have severe problems (maybe even lose our sight) due to the negligence of an office staff who appear to have little to no concern for the patients who frequent that office. The ONLY reason that we still go there is our complete trust in Dr. Leoncavallo. read more

I had cataract surgery at ECS in '23. my "before" experience was very decent all the way through my surgery, AFTER CARE is when my issues started. As someone else had previously stated in their review, much of the office workers seem inexperience. I had to keep calling to try to get an appointment due to issues I was having with my sight (to which I am still having to this day!) I was able to get in ONE appointment , to which the doctor did lazer only one eye but NOT the one that I was and still do have issues with, he said that he could do only one at a time (others have told me that it's not true because he'd done both of their eyes at the same appointment!?!? When I called back to make another appointment due to my vision issues that I was still having I was told that I would have to get a "REFERRAL" to get an appointment!!! I said REFERRAL, your physician did my surgery!! To say the least, I am a very unhappy "patient", I'm not so sure the surgery was worth the issues I now have. I wish better luck to others who choose to go there. read more

First time ECS canceled due to how extremely busy they were. I scheduled my time around that appt. Second time I was late by a few minutes, and they wouldn't take me. I guess their time is more valuable than mine. read more

Dr. Bansagi is great. But his staff drags him down. They are rude and they cheat on appointments. They change appointments to make it look like they're meeting on-time requirements and don't notify the patient of the change. The result is you get to wait an extra 30 minutes. What's worse is you bring it up to them and they really don't care. One of their technicians told me it wasn't her fault or her problem. So I left and won't return. read more

It is well worth the time spent, estimated time there is from 1-2 hours and you know everything that is going on when you leave. The staff are willing to answer every single question and take patient care very seriously. You don't feel rushed and you feel like you matter. Very pleased. read more

Dr Leon was great for surgery ! They also saw us for eye infection and worked with us to find an affordable medication

Dr. Henkel was two hours late and offered no apology. Though he recommended that I get a prescription for glasses. I should have been warned that I would need two eye doctor appointments when one should have been plenty. Arrogant physician. Nice offices and office staff. I will not return. read more
