The issue I have is that they refuse to authorize my pharmacy to a refill of a prescription for a low dose statin that their Dr. prescribed (for a one year term refilled every 90 days) without seeing me and getting new labs - In other words, they want me to pay for an appointment and new labs that my insurance will only cover once per year....because their employee left. But they have the labs, which is what providers use to determine whether the prescription is warranted. Statins are literally the most prescribed medication in the US and they have all the evidence to validate a simple refill but are trying to force me to pay a significant out of pocket expense to get it.

waste of time and money!…read more I went in suspecting infection. it was a Saturday where they had 2 doctors, 3 support staff, and minimal patients (as in less than 3 when I arrived. I waited for two hours. Then the doc refused to do more than a urine culture and prescribed antibiotics that are a sister to penicillin which I'm allergic to. doc said if my reaction to penicillin wasn't bad, I should be able to take them. I explained I don't know what my reaction is like as the allergy was discovered in infancy. She disregarded that and prescribed it anyway. Immediately after the appt, I called asking for a safe antibiotic and to speak w a supervising doctor or office manager. I was told one of those would be calling me back. the offending doctor called me back and prescribed another antibiotic. I got off the phone and checked to make sure it was safe to take with my existing conditions. it's not. never heard from anyone in the office.

Residents expect and usually get the best there. I learned to not expect that in Okaloosa County, FL. But Gulf Coast Immediate Care ALWAYS services nearly as close to the best care that I've received in the great Northeast. I had to visit 4 times over 2.5 yrs. They no longer have weekend hours, however. So if you like this place, plan well for weekday walk-ins before 4PM now. I also recommend HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital Emergency over Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Emerald Coast for reasons of accuracy and attention to detail.
