I have been coming here for years and I recently wanted to try contact lenses. The staff and service was above and beyond helpful. They sat with me for over an hour to make sure I knew what I was getting into and to make sure I would be comfortable with my decision. After watching a video and putting the contact lenses in and out three times I went into see the doctor and had an eye exam. I left with a 7 day supply of disposable contacts and ordered a year supply that came in within three days. I also ordered new transition glasses they will be in shortly. Poor customer service ! Today my husband called to Try and get an emergency pair of contacts because he was in need of them and wow were they impossible to deal with. We have gone there before and never experienced what we did today even with the manager. Very rude and condescending. No way were they trying to comply to make the customer happy. So that's why we will no longer go there. I will not recommend this place to anyone. Especially for them discriminating against the area they are located in. My glasses recently broke and I needed a new place to go to as some of my past purchases in Jersey City were wayyyyy too expensive. I decided to come here per a friend's recommendation and I was NOT disappointed. I had a wonderful experience and purchased not one, but 2 pairs of glasses! The cost would be the same if I were to buy just one pair in Jersey City so I was more than happy to splurge. The sales person had my number down and chose frames she thought were my style and sure enough, she was on point. Bob was a delight and we had a nice conversation both times I visited- my initial visit and when I came to pick up my new glasses. The ophthalmologist was great too. She took her time with me and explained everything in detail, which I appreciated. I haven't had an eye check up in about 3 years and they had a pretty nifty machine that checks out the health of your eyes. It produces these intense images that look like the moon, but it's your eyes. Cool stuff for a nerd like me. I will definitely be back! read more

I couldn't have had a more different experience from Vanessa J's review if I tried. First off- where is this private parking lot? There's plenty of street parking but didn't see a lot nor did anyone tell me about one over the phone when I made my appointment (and then they followed up to confirm I was actually coming for the following 2 days). I don't have insurance and wear contacts and needed a new prescription since I was on my last pair. I called around and got some pretty high prices on contact exams (150 +) then when I landed here they told me 95.00 so I booked my appointment. I wish i had asked more questions, but as a lifelong glasses/contacts wearer, exams are usually the same wherever you go. At least until now! When I got there I had to talk to a man in the front, not sure who he was but he informed me (with a raised voice and bulging eyes) that they did not carry my brand of contact lenses (they only carry acuvue) and they wouldn't write me a prescription for any other brand. Ok. I said that was fine but I just wanted to prescription because I usually buy my lenses online. Then he said they would fit me with their brand and I'd have to come back in a week to make sure it was ok. I said of course, that is what everyone does. He now is raising his voice at me saying if I don't buy from them then i have to GIVE THEM BACK THE PAIR I'VE BEEN WEARING THEM ON MY EYEBALLS. Ew. This guy sucked sooooo bad. I said I understood and pushed through even though i should've gotten up and left. Onto the exam! The optometrist was very nice, young and pretty. She figured out my prescription right away. Didn't do ANY of the tests that eye doctors normally do (puff of air, look right look left, look for the dot etc). All she did was figure out how bad my eyes were. So, I guess that's what I get for getting a bargain (100.00!) eye exam. Nothing else except the written prescription I guess. I've gotta go back and give them my used contacts. But other than that, I will not return nor will I recommend them. read more

Came with insurance and although the insurance covered the eye exam after the fact I was charged an extra fee for an exam that was not covered by insurance. A friend of mine bought glasses here and i was truly impressed by them. I decided to check them out for myself. They truly have a great variation of many trendy brand name glasses. What I enjoyed was having Robert go through a numerous amount of glasses that would fit my face shape. I found them to be patient and helpful and recommended them to my boyfriend and sister. They have a private lot located in the back of the store which is helpful. I do find them to be pricey, which is understandable considering they have Prada, Ray Ban, Tom Ford etc. I have insurance so I didn't mind it. If you don't have insurance I believe they have good deals as well and will work with you. I do recommend this place to others. read more

The best opticians I've been to. Dr. Zimmerling walks you through the exam and explains everything clearly and thoroughly. After the exam you choose your eye wear; I get glasses. They have an excellent selection of frames from all brands. For the last 4 years, the whole process has been so easy. The wait time is never long, and the girls have always been so helpful in picking the type of frame I am looking for and make great selections to show me based off what I say I'd like. Also, the owner Robert has always been very present and gives his honest opinions on what looks good. He always makes sure I get the best deals and look at the best options for me. They're also very quick in getting your frames back to you once the lenses are ready (usually about a week). I am glad that I have been going here and will continue to do so. read more

Eye Contact Vision Center was simply the best experience I've ever had when it came to having an eye exam, picking out a pair of glasses and ordering contact lenses. When you first walk in, the first thing you notice is how clean and organized everything is. There is a huge selection of frames and sunglasses of all the different brands you can imagine. The staff is very polite and is extremely helpful with the owner Bob overseeing everything in the store and dealing with every customer. The optometrist, Dr. Silvana Abadeer, is very knowledgeable, very precise with her exam and is extremely patient with determining the correct prescription. I had a difficulty picking between several options of what looked clearer but she did not show any frustration and made sure that I was comfortable with the prescription. Once my eye exam was completed, Bob and his staff spent extensive time with me showing me many frames and explaining all the different options of lenses with great detail. They also offered me an option to order any pair of frames that they did not carry or was not in stock. Once my glasses were made they showed me how to care for them and made sure that they fit me properly and comfortably. I also ordered a year's worth of daily contact lenses, which were significantly cheaper than buying from 1-800-Contacts. Since I live pretty far away they were able to ship the contacts my house. Anyone looking to have an eye exam and/or buy new glasses or sunglasses prescription or non-prescription to not even bother with any other place. The prices are unbeatable and the doctor and staff are unmatched anywhere else. read more

Sadly, my personal experience was not great. There is a lot of room for improvement in terms of costumer service. Staff is rude, condescending and a bit too abrasive for my taste. As other reviews stated, they will DEMAND your health insurance card even if you provide your vision insurance. After a $300 purchase (because I was in urgent need due to work commitments) I asked a staff member to please give me some basic verbal instructions about contact application. Her answer was that if I had any questions I needed to pay $45 for a class and was notably annoyed by this. It probably took me 45 seconds to put my contacts on without the "class." They automatically scheduled a follow up appointment without my input or consent. I received a text notification and quickly called to clarify. Once again, the gentleman on the phone lacked basic communication skills and rudely hung up. I will not be returning. read more

Terrible customer service! I don't recommend this place to anyone. 3 months ago I ordered 90 contact lenses from them, and they gave me, as a gratuity an extra 10 lefts and 5 rights. (I have different prescriptions in each eye).. I just went in to order another 90 and get an extra 5 to even out the original 5 rights I was shorted. They told me that was a gratuity they wouldn't be extending to me anymore with an attitude that was uncalled for! I'm not even upset about the contacts, I'm upset about how I was treated as a customer. They just lost a 15 yr customer over 5 contact lenses and a bad attitude. There are plenty of eye doctors in the area, don't waste ur time with this fool that wears a lab coat and isn't even an eye doctor. read more

Probably one of the worst eye doctors I've been to so far. The exam and everything was okay, but the owner refused to give me my prescription. I asked him why and he said you must wait for it. After heading there later, he demanded a $50 deposit for a trail balance. After fighting, he finally gave it to us and told us to never to come back again. This has to be the most unprofessional place I've been to. He refuses to give you your prescription unless you buy it from him. read more

This is the worst place to get you prescription glasses done. The owner of this place is a really bad ophthalmologist, the guy gets mad if you tell him that the prescription on the lenses are no good.. Every year that my wife go to this optical she always get a problem in her prescription, then the ophthalmologist blames the Dr. and then the Doctor blames the ophthalmologist. The owner of this optical has 0 customer service, the guy likes to yell at the ladies, he yelled at my wife and told her to get the hell out of his optical and to ho do her glasses somewhere else, when I went to confront him he act like a p$&@y and was telling me that he never yelled at my wife and that he can get the Dr. to see her again but that they will charge again for consultation. If you really want you glasses done the right way do your research and don't go to this guy that all he wants is your money... he was telling my wife that he was only reimbursing half of the money not the whole thing... read more

My family has been coming here for years. Love the glasses I get and the service is good especially because they meet almost any request I have. Good deals, however it is a little pricey. The owner is rather rude. I purchased two pairs of glasses and was offered 1 full year of insurance for repairs however when I came in almost 9 months later, both my glasses needed slight repairs. I needed one pair with me in order to see but I left one pair at a time. The owner said I don't take very good care of my glasses very rudely and I didn't take to it well. read more

I just moved into North Bergen a few months ago from NYC, and since I don't have vision insurance I decided to shop around local privately owned optical location. On my search I bumped into ECVC, which is the best place ever, not only do they have amazing designer frames that are hard to find anywhere else, but they also have amazing deals on their contact packages! The sales team, optician and optometrist all made me feel welcome and were extremely helpful. I will definitely return to ECVC I even brought my mother here last time she visited. I had a great experience last week for my first time at eye contact. I arrived for my scheduled appointment and was seen almost immediately which I greatly appreciated. After my exam they helped me in special ordering a pair of Tom Ford frames that they did not have in the store which would be ready with lenses in a week. I have been coming here for years. Bob and his staff as wonderful! I am a "terrible" contact lens wearer and keep them in my eye longer than what is recommended. So to make myself feel better, I get an eye exam every time I run out of contacts. The doctor is great! She spends the extra time with me to make sure everything is ok. Once the doctor gives me the the green light, Bob would place the order for my prescription and it will be there in one or two days. I have been going here for a few years now after the last place I went to was unfriendly and just wanted to push glasses I didn't like. Everytime I call for appointments no problems getting one . The staff is friendly and courteous and helpful . They didnt give me a hard time when I tried on about 20 different frames . Just brought out more trays . They went above in my book . The real reason I am writting is because I broke my frames last Tueday . I walked in and was helped right away . I told the sales woman what happen . Took my insurance information and said covered by insurance. I told her I need a frame right away I didn't have extra pair of glasses. She went back to speak to Bob . They fit my lenes into a frame to use till my frames come in .NO OTHER PLACE HAS DONE THIS FOR ME BEFORE. I have broke frames before . UNPROFESSIONAL! I visited this place roughly 2 years ago and purchased a pair of glasses at about $400. A couple of months after that my dog had chewed and destroyed those glasses rendering them unusable so I made a trip back to them. They only solution they offered me was a completely new pair of glasses at their regular price. The place where I used to get my glasses before had replaced my broken glasses in the past free of charge, but I didn't care too much about that since my glasses breaking was entirely my fault. So I went ahead and spent another $400 on a new pair of glasses. Recently, my current pair of glasses started giving me problems so I returned and had them fixed. On that return visit I had inquired about getting a new pair of glasses. So I sat down and started looking through glasses when I suddenly heard the owner in the back complaining about one of their other customers. Not only was he complaining, but he was using expletives basically saying that this woman (his customer) was cheap and all she does is complain and doesn't spend enough money in his store. I was in awe! I know the man saw me there because we looked at each other when I walked in. How does a store owner talk so rudely about another customer when I am sitting right there? Needless to say, I kindly got up and left the store. I will not give my business to a place that treats their customers in such an unprofessional and disgusting manner. As I started to look at the less expensive frames, he got ruder and ruder...don't go here if you want good customer service. Good people should treat all customers equal whether they buy a $5 frame or a $500 frame. You can tell what type of person you are dealing with and the true colors come out when you see owners treat customers with less money differently. Treat people equally. You never know what the future holds. You may be in that person's shoes one day. I would never go here again and I do not recommend this place. I have been purchasing my glasses here for over ten years now and every experience I have at this business is better than the last. The store itself is very nicely kept. The selection they have in the store is far better than in any other eye glass store I have been to. My favorite part of shopping here is the small business feel. The owner builds bonds with many of his clients and you can tell by just spending half an hour in the store.
