This review is long overdue-my family and I are long time patients (since 2009). Dr. Hsieh has always been a great health provider by explaining all your options and what each test means. The staff has always been helpful (problems sometimes do occur (like contact lens [manufacturing] problems, order issues) but they work with you and go the extra mile to make you a happy customer). Aidan is a top notch eye wear genie (he is the ultimate eyewear stylist) and that helped me get out of my comfort zone to try new things - 12+ months after I purchased my eyeglasses [picked by Aidan] , people are still very positively commenting about them! I had my first visit this last Wednesday. Eye Love has a very well coordinated and professional staff. I'm an older Lady with wide girth and usually anticipate an uncomfortable experience in a new place, but this was not the case. Everybody was very polite and efficient. Dr. Hsieh explained everything to me as did his staff on the whole process. Aidan was very good to help select frames for my new glasses, based on the pair I was already wearing which was what I wanted. He must have been reading my mind. My daughter came here for her eye exam about a year ago and I will say that Dr. Hsieh was very pleasant and excellent at what he does but his staff are rude as hell!!!!! When I picked up my daughters new glasses, the lady just handed them to me and I didn't check them like I should have because I was in a rush to pick up my daughter from daycare. When I got home and looked at it, the side of the frame were broken and someone superglued it back together. I brought it back next Wednesday because I work mon- sat and that is the only day I am able to return it since they are open late. When I went in and told the receptionist what had happen and what I got, she replied that all the glasses are new and they would never give me broken glasses. She then went and got another guy. He implied that I broke them and glued them back together and he is willing to fix it for a fee. I was so upset by his suggestion! First of all, I am not THAT type of person! If I broke them, I would own up to it and pay for it. On top of that, the glasses I received just looked old and used. My daughter got sized for the glasses and the ones received did not fit her at all. The flowers on the side were all worn out. There is no way in hell, one week of usage would do that to glasses. Besides, my daughter didn't use them since I saw they were broken. The guy was overall rude and said he will call me tomorrow once he speak with the lab. The guy calls me the next day and again implies that I broke them and glued it back together and is willing to "only" charge me $75 to fix them. He also went on about how he was the one who checked them and he would never let anything like that go out. Unfortunately, this one slipped through the cracks didn't it?!? In addition to his rude accusations, he also stated that I didn't actually pay for the glasses and I only paid the copay of $10 and my insurance is the one who is actually paying for them, so I should just pay the fee. How rude and appauling was that? First of all, I pay my insurance a monthly premium, so I AM in fact paying for the glasses. Secondly, they were paid for new glasses and I got broken/used glasses. I will NOT pay any additional fees when the original product I received was not what I ordered due to no fault of mine! Thirdly, my insurance only allots 1 pair of glasses per year or so. I am not willing to settle for broken/ used glasses that might break in a few months and then have to fork another few hundred bucks to get new ones when the glasses should of been new from the beginning. Let me say that some part was in fact my fault. I should of checked them before I left the office but I didn't because I had to pick up my daughter. The office, also indicated that they do not go over the glasses with anyone when it is picked up. (Suggestion here, is you should always go over the product before it leaves the store to make sure your patrons are happy and satisfied and gotten the correct product. Especially considering the No Return policy they have) In addtion, I should of also called them and let them know what I had received right away, which I didn't do. I leave for work at 6AM and get home at 7 PM, so things like this aren't quite a priority for me. I do take responsibility for not notifying them immediately like I should have but my work schedule is hectic. Although, I understand their point of view and that it may look like I broke the glasses, glued it back together and them brought it back and tried to pawn it off as though it came broken; this is far from the truth. I am also sure that some people might do this, but rest assure that I am not an individual who would do such a thing. Quite frankly, I don't have the time to plot a plan to try to deceive my optometrist out of some free glasses. Finally, after a 10 minute conversation with him continously accusing me of breaking the glasses and glueing it back, I spoke with the office manager, Aiden. He was very nice, patient and understanding and he decided to replace the frame. There were no accusations made but a REAL conversation about how to resolve the current issue. So A+ to Aiden. Although, I am VERY thankful that he did resolve my problem, the other staff is rude and I felt as though he continuously insulted me by his accusations and his statement of "You ONLY paid for your co-pay and you did not pay for your glasses " comment, which is not professional and a poor demonstration of customer service on his part. It shouldn't matter whether I did or did not pay for the glasses, all customers should be treated with the same respect and attitude. I wonder if he treats his medi-care patients differently because they don't have to pay out of pocket. Although, I love the doctor, I will NOT be returning due to the rude and insulting staff that is there. The receptionist and that one guy needs a good lesson on customer service. I'm giving this place two stars because even though the doctor and the assistants are amazing and super helpful. They don't have any prices on their glasses, so after looking for an hour for the perfect pair of glasses I ended up loving $360 pair of glasses. First of all I am a high school student, who came in with my mother and she lady showed me all expensive glasses. I didn't get any glasses that day! Super expensive. read more

I have some sort of cloudy haze to both of my eyes, so I wanted to get them checked out. I saw the ad for El Sobrante Optometry in the Contra Costa Marketplace magazine and decided to go in and check out my cloudy eyes. What caught my eyes was Dr. Park Hsieh - he's a total stud! He looks young, but then again he's asian so it might make his age gracefully =). I got examined and had several pictures taken. He told me that I had congential glaucoma. He told me not to freak out because I had them since birth. He will keep my photos on file to see if there are any changes in the future. Whew! My vision also decreased due to pregnancy, so I had to get glasses for night-time driving and computer use. They have a wide selection of brand names to choose from. I must have tried on 10 different pairs to see which one fit me best. I ended up getting a pair of the Prada ones with gold gems lining the temporal frame since most of the glasses were too close to my face and it irritated my eyes because my long lashes would make them itch. I was pleasantly surprised to find the staff highly knowledgeable with all of my insurance and general questions. Everyone there is super friendly! Can't wait to go back since I'm overdue for my 2-year check up. Very clean facility and nicely decorated! Go check our Dr. Hsieh if you have eye problems or need an eye (candy) exam. read more

Dr. Hseih is great. He uses the latest technology and explains things very well. The selection of glasses is wonderful. The staff is very helpful with picking out a great looking and fitting frame too. The only issue I had was that I was charged twice for one of the glasses I bought. I told them I had already paid but they insisted. I had to go back home, check my credit card records and explain that they made a mistake. They said they would refund but to come in. When I came it they gave me paperwork and said it was done but it still was not. I got a little mad at this point and they did fix it over the phone. Through this whole process not one of the three staff that were involved ever apologized for their financial mistakes or inconveniencing me. *That* is a turn off. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Hsieh for 3 years. To establish some credibility of this review, here are some facts about me as a reviewer: 1. I have been wearing glasses and contacts for 18 years. 2. My vision is extremely poor (9.00 plus astigmatism). 3. I've changed optometrists every year for the first 15 years of wearing glasses and contacts. I was getting frustrated from having to change optometrists every year, because I kept being told "costs changed in their office", yet my health insurance coverage remained the same. I was referred to Dr. Hsieh by a co-worker who stated she goes to him because he has state-of-the-art equipment and a plethora of unique glasses frames. I decided to give him a try one year, though I was hesitant because I live in San Francisco and it's about a 45 min drive each way. However, I am glad I did because I've never had such great customer service in that 1. I was never pressured to pay for products I actually did not need. 2. They researched my insurance plan extensively and provided me with the best lowest-cost option for glasses AND contacts. Because I live in the city, they have even provided personalized service to accommodate me not having to drive far to pick up my eyewear whether it be dropping them off or mailing them directly to me. During appointments, Dr. Hsieh explains everything he is doing, as he is doing it, which fosters a comfortable, collaborative environment that shows me he truly cares about my vision. Furthermore, his staff is extremely well coordinated and professional every time I've dealt with them. Trust me when I say that Dr. Hsieh, Aidan, and his staff are definitely the cream of the crop of Bay Area Optometrists. You won't find a more welcoming, accommodating, and professional environment to be in. read more

Allison helped me with picking out some new glasses and even taught me how to put in and remove my contacts (first time wearing them). On my lunch, I decided to give the office a visit. Let me tell you it left a BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH! All I wanted was general information about the office, no time for examination as I was on a time constraint. It took 15 mins before anyone greeted Then girl yelled from the desk "We will help you in a moment."...ok I kept searching. I searched on my own for a total of 35 MINS, from the time I entered to the time I left. I just walked out because NO ONE EVER came to help me. There was only 1 other customer, and he was sitting at the fitting table. There were at least 3 employees, NO ONE bothered to help. So I just walked out. I was even in uniform, I could probably by 3 frames or more if I wanted. Ive never walked into an office and had to wait 35 mins to be helped!!! I guess if youre insurance isn't making them money, or have an appointment you arent important? At least now I know why the majority of the yelp reviews rave about the Doctor,(I didn't get that far)and say NOTHING about the non responsive, no sense of urgency, lackadaisical staff!!! Not to mention during my( 35 min)search, I did not see any frames that were my style, there seemed to be many out of stock, and the majority of the frames catered to women, many feminine frames. Not a great adult mens selection. AND the reception is way in the back corner of the office. Perhaps to have a greater presence, they should move the reception to the front of the office like every other eye doctor. Because I got NO reception at all! This way, walk-ins and new patients aren't left to themselves as I was. At the end of the day all I wanted was some general info about the office. I would have been willing to make an appointment if nessesscary. Not sure if I'm going to give them another chance. read more

Ideally looking to get contact and new glasses but after looking at my laser scar and other "surgery" I've had, Dr Hsieh recommended to stick with glasses (I respect his honestly since a lot of places would like to run with more $). I love this place! The office is bright and clean and the staff is excellent! If you do not see anything on display then ask to look at some of the designer catalogs! If you have a frame already, then they can have your prescription inserted, no problem. You can schedule your appointment by phone, in person, or online. I found them when they were located in El Sobrante and happily remained loyal! They provide optional preventive eye care such as 3D photography, which only takes a minute and no appointment is necessary. Why look elsewhere when you have the best in the west! read more

These guys know how to make you feel special. The examination was incredibly thorough. Dr. Hsieh took time to explain things in a manner anyone could understand. He takes his job seriously which is good because the health of our eyes is so important. Out the front Aidan provides style advice encouraging you step out of your comfort zone and try something new. I loved his suggestions and its offered with the best intention to make sure you feel comfortable in your new frames. All up, 10/10. I would never go anywhere else! We didn't get to actually meet the doctor nor are we patients of record but my fiancé needed a screw replaced on his specialty work goggles and we walked into this office. We met Shane who replaced the missing screw on the goggles. I also asked if he could adjust a pair of sunglasses I bought at a department store, which he also did for us. All that took less than 10 mins and complimentary. Customer service is awesome, which is not something I say often. The office is chic and modern, very high end and boutique-like. The waiting room furniture and decor is beautiful with a specialty eye exam chart coffee table tray (lol. I thought that was such a cute detail) and really nice large fake flowers that are not dusty. If my initial impression of the office and staff is a direct correlation to the doctor then his patients must be in good hands. read more

The WORST. The service is terrible, you would think that since its NOT FREE and your insurance is paying the doctor and ultimately the staff because if it wasnt for us (the customers) there would be no business, no money. The staff is very rude, very descriminatory. The only one who is nice is Virginia. I have personally saw the difference in treatment and service between me and a couple of other people and that of people of the staffs same race or appearance. The doctor is also very RUDE, i came in to get my glasses one day and he didnt even greet me or acknowledge my presence. Mind you weve been feeding him for yearss. This guy charges you for everything (even makes double sure by standing behind the rude receptionist) and Yet is SO RUDE. He is sarcastically rude, the things he says and makes you feel is demeaning. The staff is Litterally rude. Two differences but all in all the same. How is he going to control his rude staff if he is the same.? anyone can study and be good at their profession but if your rude and making the person/people who are paying you for your services in a rude and demeaning manner its a total waste. Im Definately moving to another optometrist and telling my insurance. These people better watch out and start changing and treating PAYING CUSTOMERS RIGHT AND EQUAL or they will do this to someone with time on their hands and face a huge civil right law suit and THEY WILL loose. Trust me you will regret it if you move your optometry needs here. I yelped optometry and found eye love optometry. I decided to give it a try since it has such great reviews. The store is very modern and clean but dont sit in the middle of the couch since the AC is on full blast right there. I was greeted as I came in but the lady at the computer just gives off a bad vibe. It could be just me but she doesnt seem to smile. Dr. Hsieh is a very educated optometrist and I really enjoyed how he explained everything that he was doing and what it was for. This is great since Ive never had this experience before. The only issue I had was that the store had entered my phone number wrong and was not able to reach me when my glasses were ready. I called 2 weeks after my appt and they told me they were ready a week ago. I picked them up and tried it on but due to my prescription, I saw double and wearing the glasses made me dizzy and had headaches. They told me to try it out and get use to it for 2 weeks and I did....Nothing changed. I had to make another appt and that was not for another week before I could get in to adjust my prescription. Finally went in and did another exam and had to wait another week before I got my glasses. So I finally got my glasses yesterday... about a total of a month almost to get my glasses. Cons: Finding parking is a hassle some times since there are so many stores there. I would also say that pricing is a little higher compared to other stores. read more

I would like to thank Dr. Hsieh without his careful examination and insistance, I would have never went to my eye specialist and been diagnosis with BIH and Mengenoma (sp). It was so serious that I had to have a LP the day I went to see my doctor, I have had CT's and MRI's and have been put on medication to perserve my eyesight. I have been Coming to Eye Love Optometry for at least 8 years, before they moved to Pinole, when they were still El Sobrante Optometry, and even before Dr Park took over! I have almost always enjoyed my experiences here and have had great customer service. Yes, the glasses they carry are expensive, yes my insurance sucks so I don't get my materials covered, and yes, I have to pay oop for my contacts. However, the staff is friendly to me, Dr Park remembers me each time I come in, and I know that if I call or email with a question, he will personally call me back to make sure my question is answered. Dr Park employs staff of multiple ethnicities and backgrounds, and I believe he and his staff to give professional respect and courtesy to each one of their patients. I have happily referred all of my local friends to his office for their eye care and seeing needs. read more

Went in this past Saturday, as they take our insurance and it is super close. The waiting room is beautiful. They have a huge selection of frames too. The best part is that Aiden read me like a book. We started out with some neutral frames, as that's what I thought I wanted. But Aiden kept trying to talk me into these funky purple frames..... After all the others, I just couldn't stop looking at the purple ones. They were the first ones he pulled, and he was dead on...... Great job Aiden. I can't wait for them..... Eye Love Optometry exceeded all my expectations! I wish I could select MORE than 5 stars! DR. HSIEH: My eye and vision examination was performed with the latest digital technology. When Dr. Hsieh did that examination, he found out I had early macular degeneration and he proceeded to accurately determine the degree of that problem with a powerful instrument that performed the test in 5 minutes. It gave me great peace of mind to know precisely how serious my condition is and it empowered me to prevent further deterioration with the medication Dr. Hsieh prescribed! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Aidan helped me quickly and efficiently with any question or request I had regarding my new lenses. When I returned after having bent my frame, Aidan quickly fixed it and also ordered any parts needed for final repair. LENS WARRANTY: Eye Love Optometry honors the warranty that my lens carries. This is my optometrist. I have been going to this particular optometrist since before they moved and they were located in El Sobrante. I will drive all the way from Berkeley even though there are plenty of choices simply because they are the best. Dr. Hsieh offers the latest innovations in eyewhere and upto date contact lenses. It's more expensive then going to Costco and even though I pay out of pocket I think it's worth it. I think that is the best testimony I can possibly give. read more

I let Aidan pick out glasses for me because he's so stylish and has a great eye for picking the pair that compliments the shape of my face, skin coloring, etc. I always get great compliments on my glasses and sunglasses. I bought my first pair of glasses from them late last year. The experience was much better than I could have asked for. Since it was my first pair, I didn't really know what I wanted. Mr. Vo knew what frames looked good on me and were within my price range just by looking at me. The staff there is super professional, kind, and passionate about what they do. Very good eye doctor. He takes his time and thoroughly examines your eyes. Very nice man and he knows what he's doing.

Please DO NOT go here. They are pushy, extremely expensive and when you do have an issue you will be told that the doctor knows more than you because he went to school and he is too busy with his puppies to accommodate you. I have had a migraine since I started this process and each time they "fix" my glasses, they come back exactly the same. I paid 1500.00 in November and had to throw a fit because I still had not received them until late January and they still are terrible. I did receive a partial refund for something they sold me that I insisted multiple times I didn't want. My husband's glasses he received here are no better, he just had an old pair he could resort to. I was diagnosed with a new eye disease each time I had an exam and the customer service was insulting at best. (note, I don't have any of the mystery eye diseases, I've since seen 2 other optometrists) If you like to waste your money, be put off by vacations and puppies, be told that you are old and vain and have glasses that are blurry and give you a migraine, deal only with Mae...she is the only reason I gave this joke of an eye dr one star. read more

My mother today had an appt. and arrived there 10 min before due and they had her waiting for almost one hour. While stalling, they had her move around from room to room, with plain sight of my mothers BROKEN KNEE! She struggled around. The staff was very inconsiderate. Stalling the whole time. I had a great first experience here. The doctor was extremely nice and knowledgable, as well as the entire staff. The young gentleman helping me pick out my first pair of prescription glasses was great. He was really helpful and I walked out very happy with my selection. It took a while for my glasses to come in, but that was because of a holiday. I was extremely happy with my glasses, the prices reasonable depending on what kind of frames you want and the staff very friendly and knowledgable. I would recommend this place to anyone. Great staff and highly skilled doctor. He corrected an eyeglass prescription written by a previous optometrist that ended up being too strong, causing me headaches for two years! I can attest that one year after Dr. Hsieh wrote me a new Rx, my headaches have disappeared. He is very detail oriented and professional. I also very much appreciated that his staff took the time to explain my insurance benefits and costs that I would be responsible for BEFORE the actual exam began to ensure that I wouldn't be stuck with any surprise bills.
