To start from the bottom so to speak, we have to start at the first experience with the store and work our way to the present day. Some time in 2014 or 2015, is when this wonderful experience with Aiden began. I walked into the store with brand new insurance and Aiden approached me with such class, you could tell the homie new how to handle newbies to the eyeglass couture. Sized up the prescription from the rather rushed service from the opto guy... anyways.. Aiden checked out the prescription and knew what kind of glasses would suit the doc's orders and fulfill the swagger needed to back up such a high prescription After show casing the delectable styles of frames, AIden narrowed down the styles that would suit my particular case. Presidential or definitive choice was made at the moment and Aiden recognized the authority within the decision and quickly congratulated me :) felt like a rock star, thank you again for the help, STILL loving the frames//fames *RT(real talk) Now back to business. The shop is set up to have customers feeling like they're walking into such a comfortable space. There are two VERY comfortable couches and reading material available to those during moments when relaxing becomes a priority The whole process of selecting glasses, frames, and accessories can be tiresome so all of these conveniences definitely come in handy. My two favorite things about this place are (1) the super clean office and (2) the staff/doctor. The office never has trash on the floor and feels new all the time. The white is also very classic. Also, everyone is always very professional and friendly. They are a modern practice so you can email them and they have an online system. I like this because I don't always have time to jump on the phone to call people and I lose papers so the e-system works great for busy people like me. As for the doctor, Dr. Hseih is wonderful!!!! He tells me exactly what he is doing and why, which is helpful for me because I have anxiety whenever I go to doctors so I want to know what is being tested. He also remembers his patients and what is going on in their lives, even if you haven't seen him for a year! My mum loves this place and they know we are related even when we come for appts at different times. She walked in while I was getting my glasses and they called her by her first name. I was impressed because I've been to places where they can't even remember my name, but not here. Coming here feels comfortable because they make the experience personal. You can tell everyone cares about the patients and business. Here is another example -- I got contacts for the first time a couple years ago and they scheduled a consultation to teach me how to wear them without any extra charge. It was so sweet of them to help me and I was really bad at putting the lens on, even after their instructions, which were very clear. But the staff members were so patient and let me sit there practicing for awhile until I was comfortable. In addition, they help you to choose frames. I didn't get frames from EyeLove last year because I discovered that Costco was cheaper. But I really regretted that because I chose a pair at Costco that didn't fit my face and it hurt my ears. I was stuck with those for a whole year until I could get a new pair. This year, I went with EyeLove because Aiden is great at helping you choose glasses that look nice on you and he is respectful of how much you are willing to spend. But I do sometimes wish that I could try on glasses solo before asking for someone to help me. I get nervous because I take a long time to make a decision and I like to try things on over and over again. When someone is waiting for me, I tend to rush through this process (At EyeLove, the glasses are locked in and a staff member needs to open them, so you can't randomly test the glasses like at Costco). But I understand why they are locked to prevent theft and they never rush me, it is my own self-induced rushing. Anyways, I got nice converse glasses with antiglare plus my copay fee for $110 with my VSP insurance. I do feel bummed that I didn't see the 40% off coupon on yelp though!! Thus, I only got 20% off my purchase. My own fault for not checking. But I really like this office so much that I am happy to support their business. In fact, I've lived in So Cal, NY, Las Vegas, and even the UK and I've still come to Dr. Hseih when I am in the area to visit my parents. Mostly because I don't trust other doctors and I trust him. I don't do too many reviews because I have gotten lazy. But I have to say the eyeglass specialists at Eye Love Optometry have been wonderful and truth telling. What I mean by truth telling is that you may have something else in mind for your eyeglass frames and/or what you used to wear, but Aidan (the specialist who worked with me) won't let you do that if it won't work with your prescription. And I wanted to keep my same size frame, but my prescription has changed, so my frames needed to change also. But one thing we all agreed on, those really big frames that you see so many people wearing nowadays were not for me and I can't stand them. Plus I have a petite oval shape face. And that wouldn't do. Along with help from my son, I came away with two pairs of glasses that I love and look good with my facial size and skin coloring. DONT GO HERE!!!!!!!! I had been going to a different optometrist for several years and I switch to Eye Love because they were opened on the weekends. I went in to get my eyes checked and they gave me new glasses. When I received my glasses, I realized right away that I COULDN'T SEE out of them! They said to try them for two weeks and to come back if they were still wrong. I gave it a try for two weeks after that I still could not adjust to the prescription. I went in to get evaluated and the doctor really responded "You cant change your mind one month to the next." I asked myself how does someone change their mind when it comes to the way that you see. He checked him he said he would fix it and then I waited another two weeks. When I went to pick up my glasses the second time, I noticed once again that I still could not see out of them clearly. My two year old glasses were better than the ones he had given me. Now let me just say that my older glasses were from a different optometrist. The only reason why I had switched optometrist was because my old optometrists was no longer open on the weekends. After having to switch glasses two times and get three different contact lens prescription, I decided that I needed a second opinion. I went to another optometrist and they concluded that this doctor was wrong that he had given me the wrong prescription. Therefore don't waste your time coming here because you will be blamed for "changing your mind". read more

Very affordable glasses not very patient people I have very sensitive eyes and I couldn't do the "puff" test where they blow a bit of air into your eye to see the density of it The doctor got very frustrated and just told me while hitting the table that I was just not cooperating and trying to make it difficult for him when I had explained to him before I had sensitive eyes and for somebody doesn't hurt their eyes my eyes hurt after I do that test so of course I would backup and jolt. I wouldn't recommend going here unless you're looking for a very cheap glasses. read more

In doing my VSP doctor lookup, this Optometry was not a top ranking choice. But because of the Contra Costa Marketplace ad and it's vicinity to my home, I thought I'd give it a try. I called for a new patient appointment. I was immediately asked to be on hold. I didn't even have a chance to say why I was calling. I hung up after 5 minutes of holding to elevator music. There a tons of other doctors out there so I guess I'll just go somewhere else. They're very "on protocol" about COVID-19, and are also comfortable with LGBTQ+ families. The fitting of the glasses is impeccable. All of the staff wear masks properly (covering nose, mouth, and chin completely). The prescription for my glasses and my family's glasses is absolutely perfect. The place is very clean, and it provides a waiting area with all of the social distancing requirements, and they take your temperature outside before letting you in. There are several rooms that have a chair with the "machinery" around it, and a waiting chair for another member of the family if it is a child having their eyes examined. This is one of the best eye examination places I have visited. My family will definitely be there again. read more

I don't normally do reviews at all, but Aiden from eye love optometry, made me want to do one, hands-down. I recently had my eyes checked and found out that I have a stigmatism in both eyes and need glasses. I went to Costco and there was no helping in trying to decide which classes would work best for me. Being new to wearing glasses, it was difficult trying on a bunch of lenses that I thought were cute until I put them on my face and no longer liked them. I went into The store today, and Aiden helped me pick out numerous pairs of glasses that was best for my facial shape, and my skin color. He hands down made this experience the best yet, I was very skeptical about getting glasses and put it off for an additional month after having my eyes tested because I didn't know where to begin. Went to pick up my Dita prescription sunglasses. They are fabulous. This place has the best brand name frames. If you want quality and modern frames, this is the place to go. The whole staff is very friendly, accommodating, and are experts in helping you select the best frames. Michelle was great! She was very sweet, friendly, and patient (a combination that is hard to find). She helped me make adjustments to my frames to make sure they fit perfectly and wouldn't slide down my nose. Hadn't had an exam for a number of years and so was way overdue. Couldn't speak more highly on service, exam, etc. They have the latest in technologies - was very happy to be offered the option of the special equipment that provided an option of not dilating while still being able to exam all parts of the health of my eyes especially since I hadnt had an exam for years (it was pretty amazing technology!). My exam was very efficient and the computer glasses I got are amazing (compared to the reading glasses I had been using). I didn't realize what a difference the progressive computer glasses would make. I also got a pair of sunglasses that I equally love. Eye LOVE this clinic. The office is clean, organized and has a huge variety of frames. Mae helped me out and she was friendly, professional and efficient. The front staff was all welcoming and helpful, it made the experience so enjoyable. Dr. Hsieh was informative and walked me through every single step of his examination. I have been wearing glasses for 17 years and I have never had the examination process explained so thoroughly in a way that was so easy to understand. He really covered all the bases and I didn't leave with any questions or concerns, I trust him fully. My last prescription was wrong and I feel confident that he corrected the problem which means no more headaches!!! I would recommend this office to anyone. I've been meaning to write this review for quite some time as it's the worst experience I've ever had in 25 years of attending eye doctors. I'll separate this into the good and bad: GOOD - High tech office - reminder emails, web-based forms, latest technology in equipment - Lots of awards & credentials on the walls BAD - Although I had an appointment, I was made to wait due to an overbooking issue. After around 15-20 minutes of waiting, I had to take an intake exam in a SUPPLY CLOSET. - Doctor argued with me about my own personal medical history for the entire visit. I had an eye condition at birth and had it treated through years of eye therapy as a child. Dr. Hsieh noticed it was on my form and asked me about what treatment I had. After deeming that the treatment I had was not appropriate for the condition (Which it was? Since it was treated successfully?), he said he was removing it from my form. I asked him to not do that, since I did have that condition, and I would prefer it stay in my records. He argued that I never had the condition in the first place. I'm not sure how he could possibly know that since not only did I have it, but it runs in my family as well. - Doctor argued about my prior experience with purchasing contacts, where I was able to get them for free due to CA state law. He was extremely dismissive, stating there's no way that could have happened. It did, so I don't know what to tell you. I think this doctor will probably treat any issues you have well, but my experience was with a haughty, dismissive individual who didn't listen to my needs or requests at all. Dr. Hseih - I could tell you were trying to be polite while arguing with me, but I hate to break it to you - you're still rude even if you use a nice tone. I'm sure your future guests will appreciate it, as I won't ever be returning. read more

I was woefully overdue for an eye check & prescription update so looked on my insurance & was happy to see that this VSP 'Preferred' establishment was in my local shopping center! I figure . . . .why not! WELL . . . . . now that I've experienced Eye Love, I would travel miles to have this same experience again! Dr. Hsieh was super friendly & kind - I hate having my eyes touched & he went out of his way to explain everything he was doing before he did anything & did not dilate simply because I hate it! What a nice, customer-focused doctor!! Their equipment & tools used in the assessment process are really high tech . . .that was fun! Then, I spend time w/Aiden (sp?) to choose my new frames. What an amazingly professional, nice young man! He was so easy to work with, let me try on lots of frames & was honest in his assessment of each. I really enjoyed my experience w/him. He ordered me exactly what I wanted in lens & then was told by the insurance company that they would not be covered . . . . . he went to bat for me, got them approved & paid for & then had them OVERNIGHTED due to the lab's delay!!! I think the optometrist is excellent. The service is good. BUT the glasses and lenses are WAY too pricy. My advice would be, go ahead and have high end glasses. But the lenses alone shouldn't be over $600. If I have an allowance of $500, my residual cost shouldn't be over $1000. Bring the prices of the lenses down. read more

I'm not a reviewer on here, but I had to write this review for people/businesses who deserve it and perform to a standard that is worth taking the time out to write a review. From start to finish, I had a great experience with Dr. Hsieh -- I need to point out Dr. Hsieh's professionalism, knowledge of all things related to optometry, attention to detail, and more importantly, great at explaining everything to me throughly. I quickly changed my poor contact lens habit after he explained the cause of my dry eyes, eek! Dr. Hsieh even switched my contact lenses brand to newer ones, with better technology. NONE of my previous optometrist told me about updating my contact lenses (I think those other docs were just too lazy to tell me). The new ones are 10000 times better! Seriously life changing! I highly recommended you see Dr. Hsieh. Aidan and his team are very friendly, very attentive, and very knowledgeable. The equipment they used for testing is very advanced and state-of-the-art. They even helped me pick the perfect frames! I especially want to mention Tessa... she was so helpful, warm, attentive, easy to talk to, and it felt like I was shopping with a friend. Here's a glowing review from the over 50 crowd. CUSTOMER SERVICE The high level of attention from both the front desk and the doctor was truly stellar. I was greeted immediately upon entering their office and was glad to see a variety of customers: a mother with her young toddler, a senior aged man and two 30-something men. Aidan spent significant time to offer an array of eyeglass frames that would fit my face shape and nose bridge, and also offer stylishness and pizzazz at the same time. Dr Hsieh really helped me to refine my current eyeglass prescription (from another office) which I complained didn't feel quite right. He also explained in detail some eye issues that I wanted addressed. My drive all the way from San Francisco to Pinole was not in vain. The entire staff make an otherwise mundane experience far more enjoyable. They're dedicated, personable, knowledgeable, service oriented; It's such a pleasure to find a group of staff people who smoothly passes the baton to one another by working efficiently together. Their prompt follow up with me after receiving my eyeglasses must be also noted. My sister's family visited this office today and Aiden was rude to them! Therefore, my sister's family just walked out and will NEVER go back to this office and will NOT refer any family members/friends. They should put signs on their couch stating that "kids are not allowed on their couch!" Better yet, put a sign on their door saying "NOT KID FRIENDLY!" additional comment replying to your message: I am just relaying the message from my sister. First of all, they didn't feel the warm welcome from Aiden and he wasn't empathetic considering he also has children. Do you really think that my niece's behavior pushed the boundaries too far? Did she really disturb other patients in your office considering she was watching a video on her cellphone which I don't think was too loud to cause disruption? There was only one other customer waiting and sure she didn't agree on how Aiden was acting. As a matter of fact, that customer even told Aiden that he should zip his mouth because he was non-stop talking! If your sofa was that too important more than having a returning customer, you might as well put a saran wrap to prevent getting it dirty. My sister slammed the door because she was so upset! She didn't expect to be treated the way they were treated that's why she just walked away and didn't finish the examination. I referred them to another optometry office but I am glad I was able to voice their experience in your office. read more

I've been going here for a few years now, and the staff are always friendly and efficient. Dr. Park is knowledgeable and take time to explain about eye health and things to watch for. They have a good selection of glasses in various fits and styles, and the staff are good and finding and suggesting options that might fit your face. I also had a pair of glasses unexpectedly break this year that I bought about a year ago, and staff offered to reach out to the distributor to see if was covered as a defect and it was! I got a new replacement frame for a minimal fee. I was not expecting that so it was a nice bonus. Would definitely recommend Eye Love Pinole! read more
