It is impossible to reach these people by phone. It lowers my confidence level in how they manage the office much less their surgeries.

Ask the Community - Eye Physicians of North Houston

How different is catarata to glaucoma and if is glaucoma can it be treated?

Cataracts are one thing, glaucoma is an entirely different eye related problem. Yes glaucoma can be treated, and its very important not to ignore it if you have it. It can cause blindness if ignored.

He is not communicative & lacks integrity. I took the exam & of course, need cataract surgery in both eyes. THEN after going thru the entire exam & having eyes dilated, Financial pulls me into her office & informs me the surgery group Dr. Whitsett works at (in Spring, Tx, same bldg.) would not take my insurance. I asked all the right questions via telephone before I made the appointment. When I got there & filled out papers the last page said I owed more than the co-pay-$35. The paper said the dr uses machines that insurance don't pay for & it will cost an extra $50. They do NOT tell you this before you get there even though you ask them about out of pocket costs (which I did). Once they did the exam, it was determined I needed cataract surgery in both eyes). The financial lady comes in immediately & tells me that the surgery center on their third floor, does NOT take my Aetna advantage PPO. They could have told me this before I made the trip & spent money on the exam. They said I could go to the old location that's more than an hour away that I am not capable of driving to due to vision issues. Had I known this, I would not have chosen Whitsett as my doctor. He claims he is unaffiliated with the surgery center upstairs at the Spring, Tx location, despite the fact he performs surgery in their facility. I have a husband in a nursing home and have to be there for him very often. He has Parkinson's and Dementia & is bedridden. The Whitsett group knew ALL of this and they had me drive all the way to Spring, Tx just to be told that the surgery center doesn't take my insurance. NOW I have to call my insurance & start all over with a new dr.I do not drive at all at night because it is dangerous. I personally believe the reason the Dr doesn't give you the correct information over the phone when you make the appointment, is because they want you in there to make that eye exam money. If they told you up front that the surgery center might not take your insurance (although the vision group does), people like me would not make an appointment with them & they would loose all of that good insurance money for eye-exams. It's misleading and not forthcoming on their part. Dr. Whitsett says he has no control. I believe he has no control over what insurance will take, BUT he should instruct his staff to tell people up front that the surgery center he works at, might or might not take your insurance. I wasted a whole day away from my husband, plus gas money & co-pay, all for nothing because I cannot drive to a location that's over an hour away. I do not have adult children and my husband is very sick. I'm on my own and this was a true hardship they unnecessarily put me through. Their line is, "we're not affiliated". I suppose that's for their own legal liability that they overuse that word "affiliated" continuously. Plus it is not true. Dr. Whitsett performs surgery in that center. I would call that some type of affiliation. My drs office of 32 years recommend Dr Whitsett.. Even if he might be a good dr, he is lacking in integrity and talks to me like I'm some old lady who doesn't understand life. Just because I can't see doesn't mean that I'm not intelligent enough to see thru their shenanigans and what this is all about. MONEY. Some people can just never get enough, no matter how much money they have. I have recommended Dr. Whitsett many times over the years because of my husband but now, I wouldn't recommend him to anyone-ever. Not because of his skills but because he is dishonest and has an integrity problem. I am going to ask my insurance company not to pay him since I was mislead over the phone when I was doing my due diligence before I even made this appointment. They said yes, everything is covered by your insurance. They lied. ONLY the exam was covered. They could have at least told me there was a chance my insurance would not cover the surgery in that facility. They do add insurance companies on their list, just not mine & apparently a lot of others as well. Aetna Medicare Advantage PPO's are quite common. The surgery center might or might not add my insurance later on, but I'm too they've been trying to add it since last November, to no avail. It would have been wonderful if they had told me this information on the phone when I was doing my due diligence, rather than deceiving me into thinking all of it was covered by my insurance. But then, if they were upfront with me, they would have lost out on the easy insurance exam money. Very disappointed in Dr Whitsett. He is not honest. I will never recommend him to anyone else.

He took the time to explain everything so that I could understand my vision challenges. He uses state of the art equipment and has a very well trained and friendly professional staff. Both of his offices are comfortable and easy to find. Dr Julio is professional, friendly and engaging and he is passionate about his work. Dr Arroyo recommended a treatment plan that will have my vision back in shape within a few weeks and he theorized that I may not have to wear glasses in the future . World class treatment & service - Highly recommended -

I think I spooked the nurse!…read more One of the front-end nurses--I know I'm a little awkward in public (social anxiety), so I come off a little high-strung. I was asking a question about something mid-conversation and she jumped a little. xD If she ever reads this, I am SO sorry! I say all of that to say that the experience at Dr. Nguyen's office was nothing short of amazing. The least you expect from a doctor's visit, especially for the first time, are A) a courteous staff, B) patience when it comes to any kind of reluctance with their gadgets, and C) a doctor who is willing to coach you all the way down to the decimal with your prescription. After being known for some of the best eyes in the family, Dr. Nguyen and her staff made me aware that I have astigmatism just like my late aunt. The process: the nurse led me to the testing area, where I looked at a graphic of a farmhouse inside a machine. Then we moved on to the "infamous" blower to test my eye pressure; this is when a puff of air is blown into one eye, and it wasn't anywhere near as bad or scary as people make it out to be. Next was the eye scan. They weren't doing dilations (drops) due to the pandemic and I was in too big of an emergency to get on a waiting list, as eye fatigue at the computer is what brought me in. So I took the $40 eye scan, which consists of you looking closely into a scope while a green light scans the back of your eye for problems. It's nothing like a harsh camera flash, but staring at a fully-lit laptop screen for a split second. The nurse took my family medical history and soon after, in came Dr. Nguyen. BEYOND hospitable, Dr. Nguyen had me cover each eye as I read the eye chart on the TV in the mirror (new-school!). I did pretty well in my right eye, but in my left...that glare I've noticed for the past while ended up being astigmatism. Tightening my mask around my nose to avoid fog, she mated me with the refractor to see what kinds of lenses I'll need. After answering any and every question I had about glasses, my vision and everything going forward, I paid in the front and EXCITEDLY went to Visionworks next door to try on styles for my first pair of prescription glasses. My takeaways are that I've needed glasses for a good minute and just didn't know it, and the eye fatigue from work at the computer was the final nail in the coffin. Overall Dr. Nguyen and her team were the consummate professionals and helped me a lot in this new phase of adulthood. I highly recommend her to everyone in the area, as well as the staff at Visionworks right next door since they have a really good selection. I actually can't wait to come back for a checkup.

I am former patience of her from her last location where she practice. I called the last location, and upon making my appointment I informed Dr. Lara N. was no longer there. Although, the office was nice enough to shared which company she was partnering up with, but location was not mention. I started my search. With a simple click and the magic of Google, Cypresswood Eye Care popped up. I immediately made my appointment with Dr. Lara Nguyen new office. The biggest reason I chose to stay and follow Dr. Lara Nguyen: her honesty, passion for her work, and genuinely care for the health of her patients. Scheduling: On time. Informative: Yes. Would I recommend to friend/family? Most definitely YES! Thank you.
