Side note: the main door to her building is NOT under the large sign on the side of the building, but rather on the left side lot when facing the sign from the street.

I am someone who is almost never late, but I drove 45 minutes to this appointment, then…read moreunexpectedly had to spend 15 minutes parking (because the parking situation is awful), which made me 10 minutes late. I called from my car, intending to explain that I was there but having trouble parking, but no one answered their phone. When I walked in, I immediately apologized, explaining that parking had taken a lot longer than I'd anticipated, but Dr. Hartzell told me that new patient exams take an hour and so she didn't know if she could see me. (Note that she says in response to another review here that she allows a 10-minute grace period for all appointments, and I had walked in exactly 10 minutes late.) I said OK and left, and she followed me out in the hall and said she wasn't saying she wouldn't see me, but it would mean that the appointments after me would start late too. OK, well, what am I supposed to say to that? Either see me or don't see me, but don't chastise me and expect me to feel good about staying at that point. So at that point I just continued to leave, because I didn't want to see a doctor who started off a relationship that way. Medical care is a very personal thing, and I don't think most people would feel comfortable putting themselves in a vulnerable situation with a doctor who takes that manner with people. If you read other reviews here, you'll see people with similar complaints about her manner. If nothing else, they should warn people when they make appointments that they will need to allow 15 minutes for parking; generally people won't expect it would take that long. Edited to add: See the doctor's response to my review, which is absurd -- "It is always a good idea to plan time for parking and walking from your vehicle to the medical building" is incredibly condescending. Obviously responsible adults plan for parking and getting to the building! But people don't assume they'll need 15+ minutes for parking unless they're warned about that in advance (which this office doesn't do -- and why don't they, when multiple people have suggested it?). I agree with other reviewers who found her rude and condescending. Strongly recommend avoiding.

IF THIS DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU, WE CANNOT ESTABLISH A WORKING PATIENT DOCTOR RELATIONSHIP". Immediately I asked myself this is the guy who pretends to be a caring doctor in his videos? He asked me the questions and I gave him the responses he's looking for, and he makes it appear as if there was some kind of problem with the patient. Further-more he decides it's worth his time to insult me by saying my condition floaters is a mere example of patients with OCD. That's quite an insult since much of his business is driven by his youtube videos, and to say his patients with floaters are a bunch of OCDs shows little empathy for their condition. Randall Wong is not who he tries to make himself appear to be in his videos, he is not compassionate towards his patients and doesn't deserve your time. What I saw was a man in need of taking an anger management course, I would never have this guy operating on my eyes given the kind of intimidating demeanor and disrepect he showed towards me, my father, and his own staff. What a huge let down to travel from halfway across the country to find out he isn't who he advertises himself to be.

Dr. Wong has a most pleasant bed-side manner. When visiting him for an appointment, I feel like I'm visiting an old friend. He clearly cares about his patients on a professional and personal level. He examined my eye with the cloudy spot and gave me some homework to better deduce the true cause of the problem. After 3 more months of studying if my cloudy spot was stationary or mobile, he suggested a vitrectomy. He made the risks clear to me and, he made it clear that, as an elective surgery, it was my choice as to whether or not to proceed. I felt comfortable that I was well-guided and decided to proceed with the surgery. The surgery went smoothly and was virtually painless. His follow up appointments were quick and efficient, yet I felt like he was taking the time needed to ensure I was healing as expected. To sum it up, I feel that my eye health and vision is in good hands with Dr. Wong, and he makes the experience as pleasant as eye surgery could be.

We were glad we got to meet him that day because we felt much better about the procedure and decided to move forward. On the day of the procedure, we met Dr Nasrullah at the Reston Surgical Center. He reviewed the process and procedure again and answered our questions. They collected payment the day of the procedure. Cash or Credit Cards only- no checks accepted. The process was as quick as Dr Nasrullah described. The process itself took about 20 minutes, but with the preparation and post care we were at the center for about 2 hrs. Before the procedure, my aunt's vision was -6 due to the cataract. Now her vision is 20/20! Very happy with the results!
