I tried to order my contacts after having an eye exam at this location. They did not put in the order as there was a new doctor taking over which they did not inform me about until during the appointment. Which at this time, I could not get them to stop said appointment. My first appointment was in March. I then had to keep calling them for an additional appoinment to fit the contacts with a new doctor. They booked me an appointment at their other location in Haines City which is an hour away from the Horizons West location. I tried again to make an appointment in Clermont just to be told the new doctor does work with hard contacts. The perscriptions I paid for only last 90 days from when you have the appointment to when you order the contacts. As it took an extended amount of time to get me a second apponitment the perscription expired. If I went back there were going to make me start the whole process again even though they were also accontable for the delays. I cannot recommend this company and urge people to stay away. read more

I visited recently, my appointment went well, it was a bit delayed, despite arriving on time, the Doctor was ok, but she seemed to be in a rush.. i brought my own frames, and just wanted the lens updated with the prescription.. the staff seemed annoyed that i had my own frames, i guess because they were missing out on a sale? This was my first visit to an eye doctor in a very long while and Eye Specialists made the visit very easy and pleasant. Inside is very open, spacious, and many seats available. When walking in the front desk is easy to find and the people at the desk were very friendly and had me checked-in easily. They did inform me that they were running a bit behind, but they called me back only about five minutes after my appointment time. When I went back the assistant was helpful and explained to me everything that they were doing, and very nice when checking my vision, eyes, and everything else needed before seeing the doctor. It wasn't a very long wait for the doctor to come in, and he was very thorough and listened to all my issues with my vision. Having a problem. I order a Ray Ban prescription sunglasses from the Eye Clinic. Paid cash and a lot. I order Grading Tone Glass but the forgot to do it. The original lens do have it. I paid extra for something they forgot or most likely can't do. Worse is using non original Ray Ban lens. read more

Horrible! It's such a shame because the eye doctor and the assistant doing the exams are great. They truly need to just fire the entire optical staff and office team. I haven't had one good experience to even report and when I tried to ask to speak with a manager or someone with the greater organization I was on hold to speak to an agent for longer than 10 min and gave up. The front desk team talks about other clients in front of those waiting in the lobby. They post hours on their website however I've been told at 4:15pm on a Thursday that no one in optical could help because they're short staffed but they're open until 5. I've heard "sorry we had someone leave early for a family emergency" more times than I can count. My entire family has been patients at this office for over 5 years and we will never return. In the past I've noticed the office staff is short and often rude but never as bad as these past few weeks of trying to get glasses ordered, calling several times and 4 visits in 2 weeks (turned away twice). Driving down today on a Friday at 3pm only to meet a Receptionist sitting in the dark only to tell me "everyone left early for the day" was the last time I ever sit foot in this office! Instead, I went to Target in CLERMONT immediately after leaving and was greeted, helped with my glasses adjustment with more precision and care then I've ever received at this place! I had an appointment, which I left 30 minutes early for. I drove from one end of 27 to other looking for the office. I called the office three times the last time I called I was left on the phone for 10 minutes. I finally found the office and when I arrived I was told I was too late and I had to be rescheduled. They did not care I was driving around looking for them. They kept me on the phone and I was lost because of them. I do not recommend them. read more

I want to start by saying I went to the Clermont location, so I don't know if this is specific to that location or if it is in all of them. With that being said, I was discriminated against as I had my service dog with me. I have never been treated this way at any other medical facility while I've had him (he's been my service dog for just shy of 4 years). While everyone was attempting to be polite and saying they were trying to work with me/be accommodating, it did not feel this way! I walked in and checked in at the front desk. After this I filled out the paperwork and then sat down to wait. Shortly after, they asked if I had documentation for my service dog. I told them I did not as it was not necessary (the Americans with Disabilities Act which protects the rights of service dogs and their handlers) as it is not legally required. They then stated that they needed to see it and should have it as they are a medical facility. (The ADA states that unless the exam room needs to stay sterile, the dog should be allowed to come. In this case it did not need to be.) This location also mentioned an allergy, ADA states that a handler and service dog can not be turned away due to another persons fears or allergies. They tried telling me it was company policy. In the end, I did show them a paper from the original trainer from when he graduated (back in August 2020) and they were happy to allow me access. But everything they had done up to that point was so wrong and discriminatory! The nurse who took me back, while nice, was still a bit impatient with my dog. I have a large breed as some of the tasks that most help me require a tall or heavy pressure/weight that a small dog could not accommodate. The doctor was really nice and understanding and informative during the appointment (why I gave 2 stars) but he was the only one. I have been to hospitals, specialists, follow-ups with surgeons, regular doctors, dentists and no one has ever discriminated against me like this! read more

Yikes. Horrible experience. I normally don't like posting negative Experiences but this time was unacceptable. The front desk staff I encountered was rude and called me stupid. I came in to replace a pair of glasses I've had stolen before heading back to University. They have my prescription for my glasses on file, but refused to give me my own medical records because my prescription was made In Nov 2018. Today it's the first week of a new year.... the front desk agent asked me "are you stupid it's 2022" when I asked her why she wouldn't print my eye exam from 2018... I understand this company may feel it is not wise to use prescriptions from a year or later....but she made it out to be as if my prescription was 4 years old... even though it's Jan 5th 2022. My exam was done at the end of 2018. I was floored that customer service was allowed to openly insult their customers at the front desk. My glasses had been stolen I didn't need more drama so I left. I am surprised by the attitude and insults but more surprised that a medical center could refuse to give me my own medical records? I was under the impression that medical centers including optometrists were required To provide medical Records upon request of that patient. 0/10 I would not recommend Eye Specialists of Mid-Florida, P.A on 1050 US HWY 27, Clermont, Florida 34714. My husband and I have both been coming here for the past couple of years for basic eye exams. We've had no issues. Sonia is wonderful, along with Dr. Smith and the rest of the staff. Having been an eyeglass wearer for my entire life and having three children who wear glasses this is not the place to go. 3 weeks is absurd and to blame the lab is a poor excuse. On top of that they put the wrong prescription in one of my lenses so the glasses I waited for were even more useless and then I waited even longer.. If I could give less then a 1 star I would. I scheduled an appointment at this place a few days in advance for 1:45pm. I was getting an eye exam and new glasses. They told me to come in 10 minutes early so I came in at 1:35pm. Waited about 30 minutes then started seeing people get called back that didn't even have appointments. I was waiting there from 1:35 to 3pm. The ladies isn't he front didn't notice I'd been waiting there for almost an hour and a half or maybe they did but they didn't care. I let them know I'd been waiting for over an hour and people that came in after me have been called back already. Here's to find out the doctor I was waiting for was running behind. No big deal but they said I'd still have to wait for the other patients. So they said I could wait or reschedule. My problem here is that absolute ignorance of the ladies in the front that could've told me the doctor was running behind hmmm idk maybe a bit sooner then allowing me to wait an hour and a half. I didn't even reschedule I just left. That is my first and last time at this shit show. read more

Update: reached out to Sarah. I decided to go ahead and pick up the glasses I ordered. They were fine. Ordered another pair the same day I picked that pair up since my insurance renewed for the year anyway. When the new pair came in 2 weeks later, I went to try them on at the office and noticed a crack on the left lens. They didn't even notice a huge crack on the top of the lens! They let me take home the glasses as they were and ordered a new lens in the meantime. The lens came in another 2 weeks later and they put them on and everything is fine. Finally have my 2 pairs of glasses that I paid full price for and waited in total over 2 months. No discounts for the hassles. read more

My wife and I have used Eye Specialist of Mid Florida for over five years now. We have bought all our prescription eye glasses, prescription sun glasses, and contact lenses here , since moving to Clermont, Florida. That's At least three pair go glasses plus my contact lenses every year. My wife had her cataract surgery at the Haines City office. I have to say We've received very good service until our last couple visits. I had to argue with the lady at the front desk over what my insurance covered. She refused to call my insurance company (Blue Vision) though they previously cover the total of my eye exams. I have had the same coverage (Blue Vision) for over thirty yeas. I was charged an extra $60.00., which I consider a scam. Once home I called my insurance and they confirmed they do cover the total and would call Eye Specialist mid-Fl, Clermont office on my behalf. I was finally refunded my $60.00 over charge. Now my wife recently order two new pair of prescription glasses. Three visits too pick the up and get them fitted. No luck. The first time we were told we needed to wait out side four one to one to one and a half hours to get the new glasses fitted. Funny didn't have to wait for doctor appointments or order and paying for them. Twice now we have been told that there was no one there certified to fit them to her. Why at 1 pm or At 3 pm on different days don't you have someone to fit the glasses customers purchased? Very poor customer service. YES EEK I THINK NOT EVER AGAIN! INCOMPITANT DOCTOR. I am not a new patient to them, the Clermont location. Been there a few times for new script. But this time the Doctor was new for my old one relocated. OLD out dated equipment, should have been a red flag. May of 2017 went in for routine eye exam. The assistant takes you in to a room to eval you check your current glasses and the like. Then went into another room to wait for Doctor to refract my eyes and make my script. UGG this doctor NEVER EVER GOT IT RIGHT of a total of 8 times! these lenses were made. At least 6 times in her chair for do overs. Had my lenses only made, two pair. These are progressives. Not my first pair of them. I have had trouble with their opticians as well getting the progressives properly centered. THAT NEVER HAPPENED, trouble with my left eye from a pulling sensation to blurry. BAD SCRIPT and BAD SET UP. I suffered for 8 month . I could not go back to my old lenses because those were thrown out from the other store I started out with ( vision works AT THE LOOP) that I took my eye specialist script to as I have done in the past. Well they screwed me too! they finally gave me my money back so I then had them made here at the ES. Twice. So bottom line is that it was the Doctor at this location that has no idea how to make a proper eye script. The problem was here all the time. I did end up getting ALL my $$ back but as a cost of very irritated eyes for 8 months. I finally went to LENS CRAFTERS and they ALL got it right on the FIRST TIME love the doctor he was floored when I told him of my story. I asked him if he got a different script than my old doctor did which were off, and he said yes, I don't understand why they couldn't get it? I will post my experience at LC as well. If you are a family of more than 2 people do not even try to go here. They will not let you schedule appointments for the same day. No exceptions! I was only trying to schedule 3. I was told by an office manager in a direct quote, "It is because if you are in a car accident on the way here, those appointments go unfilled." A bizarre approach to customer service in my opinion. Don't know if this is a new policy, but when I asked if they were willing to lose a family of 5 patients who had been customers for almost 10 years, they were apparently fine with it.(AND I had never cancelled an appointment with them in 10 years!)
