She is so professional and caring and extremely smart. I had eye surgery in the morning, and she personally called me that evening to check up on me. What doctor does that these days? The front office staff as well as the technical staff are very caring and pleasant. They are very easy to work with and are sincerely interested. In a positive outcome. I had an appointment scheduled with them and an hour before my appointment they called to reschedule me with a new dr. I had to cancel my Uber, who charged me $25 for the cancellation. They also didn't tell me that my new dr was in a different location and I ended up going to the old location which caused me to miss my appointmen. the whole trip cost me $50. I was told in person that they would reimburse me for the $80 I lost but when I called, the manager refused to reimburse me even though it was their fault. On July 30th my left eyelid ballooned up after itching pretty bad the day before. I made an appointment with Centra Care and got some erythromycin ophthalmic which really helped but I still have a bit of the effect of the bump so I called to schedule an appointment with an ophthalmologist. When you call the office, prepare to be waiting forever for someone to pick up. Forever. One of my calls went on for over seven minutes before someone picked up. I set up the appointment then had to cancel a few days later because I was not able to make it to the 3:30p event. I made a new appointment for August 10th, after another long wait for someone to pick up the line. I received an online form to fill for the pre-registration. Left work earlier and made it to the appointment by 3:15. Did not realize it was on the second floor so I got there, filled out the other form and was charged the deductible for the visit ($100). Just as I was sent to the back area where I was going to go through the initial check, the extremely loud fire alarm went off. At first there was confusion and then the staff began getting people out of the office which was a mess because many of the clients are older folks and several had walkers and the way down was via stairs (one should not take elevators when a fire alarm is screeching). Five minutes after we are all outside and downstairs, the fire alarm turns off and it's back upstairs and into the first floor everyone starts to go. I needed the restroom so I went to the one on the first floor and what a weird rest room it was. It was unisex and the room was massive for the one stall it had in it. It gave off a bit of a horror movie vibe and since the toilet is so far from the door you needed to test it twice to ensure you weren't busy doing you're stuff when it might be accidently jarred open. Went back to the second floor to my appointment and one of the nurses did a full exam on both my eyes, filled out a lot of info on to their EMR software. Some drops were put in to test them and did a mini vision test as well. Was sent back to the waiting area until Dr. Steedle called me in and a nurse also went in to take notes. He reprimanded the previous notes taken by the other nurse while I was sitting there and that was a bit unsatisfactory for me to overhear. If you are going to discuss these inner office issues, it's best to not do it in front of your patients. He then went through a quick check of my eyelids, gave me a little slip of paper with instructions on doing a warm compress and prescribed me azithromycin tablets to help fight the infection. It was nearly 5pm by the time I left so I know they were closing shop soon. Need to get my vision checked again and possible new glasses soon and noticed their first floor had this option but am going back to my regular place instead. I see this place made no improvement whatsoever throughout the years. Unfortunately, my father has been under their care this whole time, and finding another doctor to take over and start all over would be just too much. Thank goodness for appointment cards! Every month we experience an issue. Either his appointment needs to be rescheduled or he "doesn't" have an appointment??? Odd. They have a "scheduling error"..monthly. The most recent visit the lady insisted my father didn't have an appointment, again. He showed them his appointment card, and magically, they can see him. But not without arguing with him on which eye the procedure is for. She kept insisting it was for one eye because that is what her "computer" shows. But my dad knows for a fact it was the other eye as he recently went in for the eye she argued on. Even the appointment card listed the eye he pointed out. After "checking"., they confirmed it was a "system error". When he was done with his visit, again., they tried to schedule an appointment for the wrong eye because the "system" showed that. Listen to your patient maybe? It's centralized scheduling here. What that means is, they have schedulers in one location, scheduling for all of the Florida Eye Clinic locations. I personally don't like this because there is no sense of closeness or care in their work. The staff tries to tell me about "HIPPA" which I'm well aware of. My brother and I are listed as the point of contact for my father. They call and confirm my dads appointment, and wanted to let him know what his patient responsibility would be, and stated she was unable to tell me due to HIPPA.. Lady, you called me. I didn't call and ask you how much my dad needs to bring with him. She started grilling me for my dads personal information and if he was able to speak to her directly. I had to fire back for her to back off and just tell me how much he should bring! Awful service. They have such poor management and staff. They need to be enrolled for some extra Healthstream and I wonder how their Press Ganey scores would show them listed as. read more

Was there today for an examination. Sign in was smooth. The place seems to be mask obsessive! Signs everywhere warning that masks are required everywhere. Was waiting outside when I observed an elderly man who was there to pick up his wheel chair bound wife; she was waiting at the door. It was pouring rain. He got to the door, but was refused admission because of lack of a mask. I watched as this poor guy struggled to get back to his car from which he retrieved a mask. It was one of those cheap blue masks. Using his cane, he struggled back to the door and rolled his wife out in her wheelchair. During my retina exam, I was told that my mask was too lose. The ophthalmologist commenced to using adhesive tape to seal the device. Probably took a derma layer off when removing it. Attorney consulted! If I were in close-proximity to the idiot who runs this place, that person would have faced dire consequences. Won't be going back to Florida Eye for the recommendended follow-up procedures! read more

Update: Dr. called with an attitude because of the complaint. Then lied when she stated she informed me of the exact cost. She informed me that they was going to resolve this and have the office staff call me, which NEVER happened! The front staff are very friendly. My concerns are the long wait time and the fact that I was not informed beforehand how much the fitting fee was. Was floored when they called me after I left to state I hadn't paid it. I would have NEVER sat for the fitting if I had know beforehand how much it cost. This wasn't fair to me. Couldn't cancel it at this point because the service was done. They should really refund me because I was not told beforehand. This was an undue financial hardship for me! read more

Horrible Practice, for patients and staff! Let's talk about Sondra Hoffman, she lacks tact, rotten to core. She is a huge diva and doesn't care about her staff & drs. Sadly she's an "opthamology tech" who kissed butt on her way up! No damn wonder they loose their staff. She's an elitist! They got her cheap, but also owners in the past really didn't want to deal with staff and she would lie to them about staffing. She's always got a huge line of BS for the management to make herself look good! Let's talk about the actual practices, majority have malfunctioning AC, wait times are obnoxious, they play games with the staff! The diagnostic equipment is antiquated. If your applying for work there, just don't bother because you'll be pissed with Sondra. They can't get staff because word is out in the community. If the owners of practice get real and remove her, and get a real practice manager, they would do better! If you speak with Sondra she represents herself as an elitist and will talk down to you! Even the staff will tell you must "serve the queen" mentality she demands. It's not a happy place to work, or happy practice to be a patient of! Had the worst experience! Had some issues with insurance and once they were resolved Dr. Skeedle refused to see me. Said that it took too long to do paperwork. So he decided to take that out on the patient and not see me. He wanted to reschedule but think I will try and see a more empathetic and compassionate doctor. read more

This clinic did my cataract surgery they year when covid hit. I loved Dr. Pappas and staff. The price they gave me for one eye was $1810.00. I paid it all. That is the total amount I was told to pay. I could only do one eye because my other eye is legally blind from an eye injury when I was 7 years old. Later after the surgery I got another bill for $2700.00? I would have never hired them for that amount. I have turned them over to BBB and gone in to talk to them. They want blood. Not a patient here, but doing a solid for my parents and picking up an eye drop prescription for my father. It took 4 times to explain to the assistant my mother spoke with the doctor who prescribed the medication and 4 more times to find out if they even had the damn thing. I wasted a total of 40 minutes sitting in the waiting area to be told by the tech that did not have the eye drop in stock and then her supervisor comes out and says there is one box left. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful they found a box. But, I'm sure if I hadn't said something I would still be sitting in the waiting area for them to tell me something. read more

Absolutely not. I've been to their Altamonte office twice before I finally just gave up. Every time its a major hassle to get an appointment, or reach anyone for that matter. Over a span of 3 weeks, I've called numerous times and waited on hold for around 10 minutes, each time, resulting in me finally just hanging up. The last time I called, I was actually able to reach someone from their answering service, which transferred me to the clinic where it rang for another few minutes before going to voicemail. Several days later, still waiting on a call back. Went to their website and filled out their "Contact Me" form. Nothing, no confirmation, no call, no reply. read more

First let me explain this is not about any doctor at this practice. I was attempting to be a new patient. During the week of 11/15/21 there were long hold times for setting appointments (20 min), then several people to speak to before scheduling. All in it took two days. Insurance information was given over the phone and on their app prior to the appointment. I also completed their patient portal forms and checked in when I arrived. The message after that check in was to wait until I was called or text from someone in the office. That's pretty typical for doctors offices this last 20 months so I waited 30 minutes before going into the office to be told they didn't know I was waiting and then to learn I had to fill out all the paperwork, again. An entire hour after my appointment time I was told they were still waiting on my insurance company before I could have my appointment. Disorganized was my overall impression of the practice. I will look elsewhere for care. read more

Prepare to be on hold for 30 minutes or more only to get to a call center who transfers to the clinic location, only to get put on hold again. I've twice left messages with no call back. What a mediocre place. I Went in there because I had a serious eye infection and needed treatment ASAP. Thomas steedle or whatever his name misdiagnosed me- he said it was my blood sugar causing my eye problems when in fact it wasn't. He kept calling me trying to tell me to get my blood sugar checked out when I got blood work done the day before and actually knew myself what my blood sugar was-normal levels. What a lunatic! He talked entirely too fast and only cared about keeping the line moving. The whole thing was rushed and ridiculous. I had to go to hunter vision instead where they correctly diagnosed me and treated me. Florida eye clinic only cares about money because they're still trying to bill me 5 months later...don't waste your money or time here. read more

I was expecting the worst, and was extremely pleasantly surprised. As a new patient I arrived 30minutes prior to my 10 AM appointment to fill out paperwork. I was seen promptly by 10:05am. Two wonderful techs (Allison and Mark, I believe), performed several visual tests for a routine eye exam and glaucoma screening, and Dr. Gruenberg saw me after all results were forwarded to him. From the receptionist to the techs and opthalmologist, each staff member was courteous, patient, and respectful. The techs and doctor took their time to explain the results of the exam, and I was done by 11:30am! I never felt rushed or just a number, and they have a very efficient system. I'd been to the Ocoee branch a couple of times before and didn't like the way you saw one person, were herded into a secondary waiting room, saw someone else, and were sent back to the waiting room again, before seeing a 3rd person. But today I just had enough with them. They impose mask wearing on patients on Fridays. Why Fridays are days that more COVID is spread or caught, I don't know. They said something about it was because a certain female optometrist is only there on Fridays, which to me means she's forcing her personal preferences on everyone else. I was tempted to refuse to wear a mask just to see what they would do. I saw the first person, who gave me the eye chart test & dilated my eyes. Then I was sent to the secondary waiting room. I sat there the longest time, seeing several people who came in after me being called back before me. I asked a staff member about it and she said they were still on the 8:00 patient and I was the 8:35 patient. My watch said it was well after 9. I was really getting impatient because I had to use the restroom. I excused myself and came back to the waiting room, and still was kept waiting a long time. I wanted to rebel & take off my mask. Finally, with there being no sign of me being called back anytime soon, I walked out and left the premises. read more

This is ridiculous, in this time with the coronavirus, my husband had an apportionment today Aug. 21 at 9:45 is 11:39, and he still waiting for the doctor with many people around him, this is crazy, they don't care about the patients just care about the money, most of the doctor offices the patient wait out side and no to long. This place is like the DMV of eye clinics. There is a sign at the front desk telling you to be prepared for a 2-3 hour appointment (most of that will be waiting). They must triple book patients because the waiting room is always packed and the staff are snippy because they're probably worked like dogs all day. Greeted by the most miserable employee asking to stay 15 minutes away of wait in the parking lot to pick up the patient that sits in the waiting room for more than an hour and a half past her appointment. Well here is my story. I moved to Florida 4 years ago and I have not been the most compliant patient regarding eye care. My ophthalmologist In New York had put me on a beta blocker for pre-glaucoma and everything was fine. I lapsed In taking my medication for about a year and at the pleading of my family I went and had an eye check up at florida eye clinic I told them my existing problem but the optometrist said I need to see the glaucoma as well as the retina specialists So far I have been to the optometrist once the glaucoma specialist 2x and the retina specialist 4x in the past 4 months. Each time they of course take another copayment as soon as I walk in the door. Let's talk about the visits. Each visit is a minimum of 21.5 hours ( longest was 5hours). They continually shuffle you in and out of rooms to have tests done by an extremely arrogant staff If your lucky you see the physician in under two hours past your scheduled time So what have we learned in 7 visits. I have pre- glaucoma and need to be on a beta-blocker Didn't I start off saying that? So if you have no life and like to sit in office waiting rooms all day this is the office to go to. They may have good doctors in the field of ophthalmology but they are better at doctoring your wallet and insurance company Buyer beware read more

It is very unfortunate that the staff and business side of this company is more focused on the money than the patient's immediate care. My husband's cornea transplants were both performed here and both successful and the doctors are amazing but if you have an emergency god forbid you owe any balance because they will refuse to see you. Thank you Dr. Papas. Petrified that anyone was within a country mile of my eyeball with a scalpel. But the staff at Florida Eye Clinic was entirely professional and efficient. Admittedly, there is a herd like aspect to the clinic. Expect a lot of of folks -- can't find a seat numbers -- waiting with you at all stages in the process, but you can't expect not to wait at a four-star restaurant. Pappas is pleasant, personable and technically brilliant. My wife went elsewhere for cataract surgery and her experience was far less positive. Especially impressive are the follow up appointments and phone calls to monitor your progress. Seeing without glasses for the first time in 54 years. Much appreciated. I know that the waits are long and there is no such thing as a quick appointment here, but if you have strabismus, like I do, you won't find anyone better than Dr. Gruenberg and his team.
