I just moved to GSO from VA where I was previously getting my eyebrows threaded at. Little did I know. They were doing a little too much with my eyebrows trying to make them "even"? Maybe. Luckily, I found Alpa and she was more than happy to help! At first she saw my eyebrows and notice how short they had been from previous years of threaded further and further back. So she advised me to grow them out (this was about a 2 month process to get all the hair to try and grow back) when they finally grew all the way back she threaded them so they look WAY more full and long! When I moved from San Francisco almost 2 years ago, I had trouble deciding where to have my eyebrows done. For over a year and a half, I loved going to brow lounge to get them waxed. Over time, I started realizing I was losing my arch, my hairs at the end of my brow were sparse, and that one arch was higher than the other. Yikes. Although I loved going there, I needed a change. Her store is in a house right next to Cookout. So easy to find. Her studio is located at the back of her house. It is very clean and professional. She is very accommodating to your schedule and is as sweet as can be! Her prices are so reasonable. Just make sure you bring cash! I had a bad experience in the past with eyebrow threading in California.. HOWEVER, after one session with Alpa, she has forever changed my views about threading. Alpa made sure I was comfortable and kept checking to see if I was okay. I did not have any problems during the session! She listened to what I wanted and restored my beautiful arched brows. I've had many people come up to me asking where I get them done. Needless to say, I will no longer be going to have my eyebrows waxed. Theading with Alpa gave me the precision I wanted! She does a decent job. Her hand is a little heavy for my liking, but I've had both gentler and harsher threading experiences. I do have to say that the whole experience wasn't very comfortable because as soon as I walked in her house, her husband started hard selling me on the business. This was basically the opposite of relaxing which is a large part of what you want in a hair removal appointment. I've only been one time, yet I've received about 4 reminder texts from her every few weeks soliciting another visit. That's too much selling. Quality service always sells itself. I have rather difficult eyebrows, so finding a good eyebrow threader is important to me. I just moved from Miami where I stayed for years with this lady who people drove from all over the city to get their eyebrows done... and I have to say Alpa made my transition easier! I was worried I wouldn't get as good of a service here, but Alpa really understands eyebrows. Just ask her and she'll do it for you. I told her about how thick I wanted it and the kind of shape I wanted and she listened. She really took her time on the finished product and getting to know me as well. She told me that since I plucked it on my own a bit before she needed me to grow certain little bitty parts out to get the shape I wanted in the long run and that's when I knew she was trustworthy. Most eyebrow people just clean and go! I went at ten in the morning to her little shop. You're supposed to park in the grass. I knocked on the door and she told me to head back. Her shop is closed off from the rest of her house so it felt really professional to me even though it was her home. It was very clean and the light from the big windows helped even though she has lamps. She twirled me around looking at my eyebrows from different angles and used the sunlight to make sure she didn't miss anything. She's super friendly and I can tell she enjoys her work. I haven't tried the facial threading, but I will next month and will be back to review! $10 for eyebrows $30 for facial threading (I think. Don't quote me on that.) read more

So I just moved to Greensboro from Miami and was feeling very weary about letting someone new touch my brows. After a super intensive yelp search, I decided to give Alpa a try. What a great decision that was! Yes, her salon is set up in a separate space at the back of her house but don't let that make you nervous. This woman is a professional and an artist at her craft. Alpa was able to keep my eyebrows full just the way I like them and smooth my upper lip out to perfection. Her prices are posted so you can see them when you walk in. When you call to make sure appointment, tell her what you'd like threaded and ask what's the total. She has a square card reader and also takes cash. I absolutely love Alpa!! The salon is very cozy(it is inside of a home to set your expectations but it is set up like a salon). She is the only one who does the threading and pays very close attention to detail. She has been helping me get my eyebrows to the desired shape I want them. It was a process but we've just about achieved the shape and thickness I want. She listens to what I want and never disappoints. She has made my brows bleed a little bit with small cuts from the thread but I have VERY thick eyebrows and eyebrow hairs(so I guess she has to thread a little harder to get the hairs out good). The small cuts usually heal up within 2-3 days, nothing too severe. The price is also a bit more expensive than I typically would pay, she charges $13. However, I think it is worth the price and I usually go every 3-4 weeks. $13 is a small price to pay for beautiful brows and precise work!! My 15 year old can no longer wax due to the topical medication she applies to her face. We wanted to give threading a try. Found Alpa on Yelp and made an appt. don't be alarmed when you drive up to a residence. Her studio is in the back of the house. Very simple and quaint. Just a separate room off the back of the home. Alpa was friendly and put my mind at ease. Also, my 15 year old. She was nervous but Alpa made her feel at ease. She started slow for B to get used to the technique. She did a great job explaining the process and her recommendations for her brows. She also did the upper lip. B said the lip was way more uncomfortable than the brows. She even did a clean up on my brows at no charges so that I could understand what it felt like. In my opinion the tingling lasted a little longer than when I wax. The redness went away just fine. I recommend ice or cold compress if possible ( just like waxing). Alpa did apply aloe to B's brows and Lip after the service. We will definitely be back. I recommend her for threading.
