Mary was such a joy to work with. She's very patient and really takes the time to understand her client's wishes. I Couldn't have been happier with my decision to come here for my microblading procedure. She's very personable and she talked through everything she was doing. She is very professional and responds quickly to emails. Even after the procedure she has continued to be very helpful in answering my post care questions. I came to Mary because my lips were becoming invisible and I wanted definition. She was very serious and detailed in her description of the process including how long it takes for the dye to really "take". I agreed to her price, $500. The procedure would take of 4-5 treatments before her work was finished. She spent several minutes showing me various shades of pink letting me see each one so that I was confident of my choice. She took a photo and began, putting on exam gloves, headlamp and meticulously tatooed the outline that we had agreed to in advance. She numbed my lips and chatted while we waited for it to work. Besides being professional about the application, she was very concerned for my discomfort (numbing lips can't entirely remove the pain of needles on skin). Clearly, she understood that aside from repeated applications necessary for permanent lip outline, she cared about my comfort. Afterwards she advised me of the various things I needed to do for my lips to heal over the course of 3-4 days. And now my lips are looking great! Thanks, Mary! read more

** BUYER BEWARE---DO NOT USE MARY HUNTER---NO STARS** Under no circumstances do I recommend Mary Hunter for ANY cosmetic work. I had a consult with her for cosmetic nanobrow removal. I agreed to a mixture of 4 cosmetic brow sessions at the total price of $495 (to include beginning removal, skin color pigment touch up over left over old ink, initial new microbladed brows, & touch up). During this consult, I repeatedly asked her about her methods & my concerns that the removal process would not work or that the skin color pigment would fade & the old nanobrow color would begin to show through. She assured me that everything would work. I further told her I was trying to get ahold of a local laser center for removal consult, and she specifically informed me that this laser center does not remove eyebrow tattoos due to the proximity of the eyes. I went on to have my 1st removal session with her which she basically went over my brows twice with a needling device to get my skin to bleed, followed by her own personal made up scrub mixture that she rubbed into my brows. I called her 3 times (and text) following the 1st removal session to let her know that I was 100% confident her removal treatment method was NOT going to work, & that I was going to go have additional consult elsewhere, putting her work on hold until further notice. At this time, I asked her about a refund for the other unused sessions. She informed me "that won't be a problem" & to let her know after I finish my other consult what I had decided. During my laser consult, the center I talked to Mary about, absolutely DOES do cosmetic eyebrow removal. A matter of fact, they have done several. They further told me that they have actually had to do correction work on Mary's clients who have had pigment colored cosmetic correction, because the ink turned orange! Not only did Mary lie to me about the laser center being able to remove cosmetic eyebrows, which I firmly believe she did on purpose to seek her own agenda so I would continue to have work done by her & she'd keep my money I already paid (no refund to me), but she failed to mention that her own skin colored ink pigment could possible turn orange. She also never really firmly answered my above concerns about my old ink eventually showing back through her work, which indeed, would eventually happen as her skin colored pigment would eventually fade away. I then decided to seek a 4th correction consult which uses a newer upcoming & very effective method of cosmetic tattoo (or regular tattoos too!) removal process utilizing the Phiremoval method due the laser method you would lose all of your eyebrow hair with each removal session. The Phiremoval method SPARES your eyebrow hair. With the Phiremoval process, you get immediate results in which a solution is injected into the skin which liquifies the ink & brings it to the skin service to literally be wiped off with immediate results that same day! It has been 1 week since my services with Mary. Today I called Mary today to let her know I was going to utilize the Phiremoval method & asked her for a refund of my other 3 sessions. She asked me several questions about where my consult was, where the place was located, as if she was upset that I was not further utilizing her. When I later text her to inquire what my refund would be, she told me I was only getting $300 back out of the $495, even though I had only utilized 1 session. So basically that is telling me that I could get new microbladed brows, touch up, & skin colored correction pigment for $300 if I stuck with her, when she should be equally dividing the $495 by 4 sessions for a refund. After telling her the refund of only $300 was unacceptable, Mary called me trying to argue her rationale which is complete BS & further had the audacity to tell me "well you have selective hearing then". What a business scam! Whether you are civilian or military (as a m I), absolutely DO NOT use her services. She lacks integrity, accountability & professionalism, further setting her own agenda to gain a dollar. As most military know what the "black list" is, her service belongs on it. Fun fact, the Phiremoval business stated they personally had botched microblading eyebrow work done by Mary Hunter. RED FLAG!!!! Looks like other clients (read Yelp post from 7/15/2018) of hers have had similar integrity issues with Mary Hunter. read more

For years I have been frustrated that my eyes completely disappear without makeup. I finally took the leap and decided to get permanent eyeliner. As you might imagine, I was pretty nervous to have someone with a needle right next to my eyes. Mary totally put me at ease. She was kind and comforting. And I am thrilled with the results. I feel compelled to write this review in the interest of other potential "clients" who may consider using this woman's services. This has certainly been the weirdest experience that I have had. I had permanent makeup both on brows and upper eyelids from another technician in a city that I had recently moved from. I needed to find someone in Charlottesville to do a touch up on both areas. I choose Mary based on the good reviews that posted here. First of all she quoted to me various prices, she seemed confused and I was a bit nervous and I let her ramble. I thought that the price would be reasonable for a touch up. At the end of the procedure my eyes were sore and swollen and I just wanted to get home and ice the affected areas. She charged me $530.00 The next day I contacted her and after much confusion she admitted that she overcharged me and finally on my second visit 5 weeks later, she refunded $210. I told her that the brows were ok but my right eye was not done correctly and could she please correct it. She had a wing on the inner part of my eye instead of on the outer part where it should have been The tattoo did not follow my lash line. She admitted it was wrong and said she would correct it. When I looked in the mirror I was shocked, she went over the line and only made it worst by accentuating it! I pointed it out and she got flustered and said that she would refund the money for the eyelids. I told her that I was unhappy and that I wanted it fixed not a refund! She put some sort of clay on my lid but by then my eye was sore and I was concerned about excessive swelling and a possible infection! We rescheduled for another date. When I went home I realized that I could not make that date and I called her promptly and rescheduled. Long story short, she told me that the time was up and that I would have to her another $95.00 for her to correct her gross mistake!!!! I had some permanent makeup done a year-and-a-half ago and wanted a touch up. I found Mary through her website and she was very accommodating as she has several locations. I am beyond pleased with he work that I received (top eyeliner and eyebrows). She takes the time to format the correct color and paid great attention to making sure the finished product was exactly what I wanted. Most of the time there is no guarantee on the quality of work but Mary was clear that as long as I got to her within 30 days she would fix anything if needed. Very pleased overall and will continue to use her for touch-ups as needed. read more

Mary is my savior. I came to her after I had a bad microblading experience back in January/February. She immediately got me in THAT DAY and started the removal process. It lightened it quite a bit but I knew it would take a few more sessions. She was very informative and gentle! Fast forward to yesterday... I finally went back for another appointment and I had my eyebrows covered up with makeup and structured how I originally wanted them in the first place. (Thank god I know how to do makeup!) She immediately told me that we could save them and do a camouflage on the bad areas and structure them into the shape I wanted them to be when I had my makeup on! I didn't even realize she could do this! I also was fighting it and just wanted it all off! She began to tell me that would cost a lot and be painful. She won me over after explaining everything and even "painting" the correct brows on my face! I was blown away and said let's do it! She did the camouflage on the lines/areas I wanted to get rid of and shaped the brow for the next appointment. The next appointment will be all about the brow and making them look so much better! She will be doing the microblading technique again over the faded awful first time. The appointment yesterday went great and I was very relaxed and calm. Nothing hurt and I trust her fully!
