They are farming out their appointment scheduling to another country. The first person was so hard to understand I just had to hang up on because he couldn't comprehend the spelling of the last name or the date of birth. I called back and got a different person who was a little easier to understand, but it took way too long to make an appointment and the appointment time I chose could not be confirmed so she had to call the local office which put her on hold I was kept on hold and ended up having to change the appointment time. Too over 20 minutes on the second attempt, to schedule an appointment for an established patient. Absolutely frustrating. read more

Unfortunately, from start to finish, the visit was extremely disappointing and did not meet the standard of care or professionalism I was expecting, particularly given how highly your practice had been recommended. Upon arrival, my first impression was concerning. While waiting, another patient left the office stating they had been waiting over three hours and that this was "the norm" every time they visited. Regrettably, my own appointment ultimately took approximately two hours, which appears to confirm that long wait times are a systemic issue. During my initial screening, I informed the technician that I cannot be dilated due to a medical condition. I also explained that my medical insurance has covered retinal imaging for the past three years at my previous eye care center as an alternative. I was told this would need to be checked. I was then sent back to the waiting room and, roughly 20 minutes later, brought to the imaging area. At that time, I was told there was no clear answer regarding coverage, but that the photos would be done anyway. During this interaction, Dr. Cash came in, examined my eyes, and instructed the technician to proceed with the photos. At no point during any of these conversations was I informed that I would be financially responsible for the imaging, nor was I asked for consent to proceed knowing there would be an out-of-pocket charge. Based on my prior experience and the information provided, I reasonably assumed the photos would be covered by my medical insurance as they had been in previous years. After completing my exam,which I would like to note was handled very thoroughly and professionally by Dr. Boyd,I was taken to the lobby to select glasses and check out. It was at this point that I was informed I would be charged for the imaging. When I questioned this, I spoke with the manager, Benja. Unfortunately, her response was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to explore any resolution or attempt to work with me regarding the charge, despite the lack of disclosure beforehand and the fact that the photos were ok'ed by Dr. Cash. Benja's attitude and refusal to assist were extremely disappointing and left me feeling disrespected as a patient. This interaction ultimately overshadowed the positive experiences I had with Jasmyn and Dr. Boyd, both of whom were friendly, accommodating, and thorough. This was my family's first visit to your practice, and due to this experience, we will not be returning. I have also shared this incident with family and friends who currently use or were considering your center, and they have expressed similar concerns about trust and transparency as a result. This outcome is unfortunate, especially given the strong recommendations I had received prior to scheduling my appointment. I believe patients should be clearly informed of any charges before services are performed, particularly when alternatives are discussed and prior coverage history is communicated. They shut the phones off early. I called at 4:26 p.m. to check on my eyeglasses, since the wrong pair was ordered, but the voicemail said the office was closed and to leave a message. I'm a new patient referred by my PCP, and so far it's been nothing but problems. The eye exam itself was fine. I picked out a pair of glasses but didn't have my updated ATM card with me, so I asked if I could call back to pay. Each time I called, I was told I didn't owe anything. Eventually, I had to physically go into the office to make payment. That's where the nightmare began. The front desk staff told me I had to wait for the person who originally took my order, which meant a long wait. That person was also surprised the front desk hadn't just taken my payment. Then there was an additional delay because of an authorization code issue. While waiting, I browsed more frames and asked about their BOGO (buy one, get one free) offer--only to be told it was valid for appointments only. I left hoping the correct frame had been ordered. Later, I received a refund notice unexpectedly, which added more confusion. I eventually had to involve VSP to get things moving. Then I got an automated text saying my glasses were ready for pickup--but they turned out to be the wrong pair. My eye exam was on 7/28/2025. It is now 9/29/2025, and I still don't have my glasses. First time patient, but I gotta say I was extremely pleased with my experience visiting EyeCare Associates. I only picked them because they were nearby and took vsp insurance, but I'll definitely be back. First, they have plenty of parking, and the location is beautiful. They're inside this gorgeous big house that must have been rehabbed because it looks fantastic inside. Everything is clean and looks new. As a new patient who hasn't seen an eye doctor in a while, I gave them my info and didn't wait long. Then a tech did the initial assessment where you read stuff from a screen. Waited a bit again, then I was taken inside for further assessment, and was given the choice to have my pupils dilated (included by insurance) or get a picture of my eyeballs for $39, so yeah I chose to pay extra since it wasn't a crazy amount and it was worth it to drive afterwards and run errands. Towards the end of my appointment Dr Boyd stopped by and checked all my info as well as pictures, and since everything looked alright she said I was good to go. Considering I have noticed my eyes get tired sometimes I was afraid they'd push glasses on me, but considering my prescription would be so so low they said it wasn't necessary. Afterwards another staff member took me to the checkout window and waited with me until it was my turn. In all everyone was very nice and service was great. Totally recommend it. read more

I love this Eye Care Associates office! I've been coming here for years. My mom and grandma also come to this office. I moved away from AL 9 years ago and believe it or not, I still come to this office for my yearly comprehensive eye examines. Sometimes when you find a doctor you like it's hard to leave their office. Lol! I always see Dr. Moultrie. I love him! He is always friendly and provides great service and information when need be. However, this last visit I saw Dr. Jessica Boyd. She is a little newer. Dr. Moultrie cut his hours so he doesn't work in Thursday's and Fridays anymore. Dr. Boyd was very welcoming, enthusiastic and nice. She seemed knowledgeable and took her job seriously! I appreciated that. It was hard to know I was not going to see Dr. Moultrie but I was pleased with Dr. Boyd's service. I've also bought glasses from their eye glass department. I've had nothing but good experiences with the opticians. It was two years ago when I bought my last pair of glasses, but my experience was good! The optician helping me was nice and accommodating. I was very impressed with my first visit to Eyecare associates. I was very pleased with the short wait, friendly nurse and Dr Boyd was very nice and knowledgeable. I was absolutely blown away by Ms. Toomalatai the Optician. She was very nice and helpful. She was very meticulous on every detail of my glasses to ensure a perfect fit and comfort. She was not in a rush to get me in and out, she made sure I was going to be happy with my choice. To be frank normally I don't buy my glasses at the Doctor's office as the price is higher and I have felt pressure to purchase the first pair I see. Not here, it was all about what would suit me best and what was my best value with my insurance. Again Eyecare associates you have a top notch Optician in Ms. Toomalatai. I want to start by saying this review is not to reflect the doctor I saw - she was amazing and I truly enjoyed my visit. However, I am extremely disheartened by the opticians in this office. I have been a patient of EyeCare Associates at a different location for over a decade but decided to try this location out of convenience aI will not be back. After my eye exam I was directed to the optical department and upon sitting down with the optician I explained that I only wear my glasses in emergencies and right before bed, maybe less than 30 minutes a day. I brought my old glasses and let her know that I only wanted the lenses updated because my current ones were out of date. I have had glasses since I was 9 so I was prepared and ready to go. The lady helping me was nice enough, but during the consult said the doctor had ordered a specific lens type and that I would have to have them due to my strong prescription and the lab they use can only make them with anti reflective coating. She never mentioned it would be an additional charge so I said that was fine, assuming because no charge was mentioned, that this was included in what my insurance covered. When she gave me the total for my visit I was floored. My eyes were dilated and I could not read the line items on the bill but I was shocked as I have never had one this high before. I was ready to cry as I was not prepared for a total this high but since it was my first visit at this office and the lens type was "REQUIRED" I assumed these were normal charges and paid. A few hours later when my eyes had gone back to normal I pulled the receipt out of my bag and was shocked. My visit costed $40. The additional $250 charged were ADD ON CHARGES. I called the office and they told me all of those were optional - no specific lens was required and there were multiple lens options for my prescription, the doctor would in no way require I had to have a specific one. I was shocked. The whole thing was dishonest but they offered a refund and said they would process it when I went to pick up my glasses so I felt somewhat better on the basis that they would be doing the right thing. Fast forward two weeks when I go to pick up my glasses. I was greeted by a lady different than who helped me before and she was less than friendly. When she brought my glasses to me she asked why it had "refund" marked and I gave her my copy of the receipt I had originally been given. They took the receipt and told me to go to the front and I would be given the refund. I gave the girl my card and she refunded $190. I have ZERO understanding of what I paid the additional $100 for but the ladies in the optical department were so unfriendly and condescending that I just left. I am not one for confrontation and unfortunately I will have to eat the cost because of it. I wanted to write this review because I feel that anyone considering going here should reconsider. There are so many options in Huntsville now and you do not have to go somewhere that would be as dishonest and unfriendly as this place. I made the mistake of going here because it was closer than the EyeCare Associates I have gone to for years and it was truly a mistake - ECA West has NEVER behaved this way and I commend them on their professionalism. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. ***UPDATE*** 3 months after my awful experience I have received a $30 bill. I have now paid almost $300 for a service that is COVERED BY MY INSURANCE. I called and asked the 3rd party billing department to explain how I owe money when on the bill it clearly shows that my insurance overpaid for my visit/services and she was unable to explain it. I just happened to walk in to look at frames, and from walking in the door I received stellar customer service from each employee. The lady at the desk was nice enough to tell me there was a cancellation and she could make an appointment for me right away. In just a few minutes the Opthamalmic Assistant was ready for me to start my assessment. She was great. The equipment used is actually very state of the art; I was surprised, I just relocated from the Los Angeles area and this facility is the nicest I've been to. I had to wait less than a minute for Dr. Pendergrass and he was very professional, friendly, and thorough. I currently don't have vision insurance, and Emily, the optician, was more than happy to work within my budget, and with the added discount I was able to upgrade to very high-end frames with enhanced lenses. I couldn't decide on frames, and all the opticians got together and formed a little panel to give me their opinions and help me choose. I would recommend EyeCare Associates and Dr. Pendergrass to anyone, whether you have discerning tastes or just need a quick exam and backup pair; I won't be going anywhere else. Let me emphasize again, the customer service here is world class. They accept CareCredit and most insurances. They don't accept Mastercard Debit cards. read more

I dont usually write bad reviews because I realize sometimes things just go wrong but my experience here was shocking. I went for my first appointment, which they did not have me down for even though I confirmed it with them earlier. When I finally saw someone the young lady continued to incorrectly fill out my medical history. I could see her screen and let her know there were 3 mistakes on it. She said she could fix it later. I can say that the doctor was nice and informative, but I only saw him for a few minutes until his assistant was back to take me to pick out glasses. I had priced frames the week before and knew what I wanted. The prices here were marked up $50-$100 more than other places I saw for the same frames. I waited for 10 minutes for someone to come help me while overhearing half a dozen ladies gossiping in the other room. I finally stuck my head in the open door and asked for assistance. After finding frames and getting a total I asked why the lenses cost so much and if she could explain it. I was told that was just how much they cost. I asked for specifics and was given the same answer. After I got home I saw the itemized reciept and saw that over $100 of add ons where put on my bill. I called the office and told them I never asked for these add ons and wanted them off. Two weeks later I go to pick up these glasses and while a mother is speaking to the receptionist her two very young boys were laughing and chasing each other the way toddlers do. I am the only other person in the waiting area and I am amused but not bothered by their play. A staff member comes out and angrily tells them to sit down and be quiet, bringing them both to silent tears. Once I got in to see someone to pick up my glasses the amount they reimbursed my credit card was not what we had discussed on the phone but by then I was past ready to leave. read more
