Of course I brought a pair of back up glasses since I have double vision and need major correction. But when I packed from my RV and flew from Cabo San Lucas to Oklahoma City, I looked at that back up pair of glasses and thought I would not need them for the five days. I'd be back in America. My glasses broke today and I can't see without them. One short Uber ride to Midtown Optical and I was surrounded by caring staff who immediately found the perfect solution and repaired my glasses.and get this they did it for free! We paid $175 for a routine eye exam, we have VSP (vision insurance), which should be billed for all routine eye exams. Because this is an ophthalmologist and not an optometrist the provider gets to choose how they code it, medical or vision. They will not tell you what they will charge or how they will code it before the exam! Even if you ask to check (my wife did) When I called in and explained we had VSP and our copay was $15, the billing lady (who was very nice) just kept saying we charge as a medical doctor, which didn't explain why a routine exam was not being coded to VSP vision insurance. In her defense should couldn't say "we could bill it to vision but we make a lot more money by choosing to bill this as a medical procedure." Unless you want to pay 1000% more than you should, do not use an Ophthalmologist for an eye exam.

I returned a week later and he changed the prescription. The contact lens technician did a quick reading test and changed the prescription again, thank God. I returned for a followup a week later and Dr. Pitt changed the prescription again and told me he didn't want to see me again until my annual exam. I trusted him and ordered the lens before driving in them and it turns out the prior prescription was better. I feel Dr. Pitt is rushing things compared to how he operated a few years ago. I start work early in the morning and use my eyes reading and working on the computer all day. I go to the eye doctor after a shift. My eyes are old and tired and may require a little patience. It's not a big ask. Unfortunately, I will not be seeing Dr. Pitt at my annual exam, as I will be searching for better care elsewhere.

Brett allowed me to reuse my old but good quality frames which saved me a lot of money. The place we use to have our glasses made never allowed us to reuse the frames they sold us. And when the doctor's office, who did the surgery, corrected their prescription shortly after the initial prescription, Brett replaced the right lens for free. Brett has such a nice and calm way of explaining things. One of the lenses was almost popping out and the glasses sat funny on my face. I was worried that I would have to send the glasses back to the manufacturer to have them repaired. Thank goodness I called Action Optical! During the call, I was told that they would look at the glasses and repair them if possible.
