Angels in Oklahoma! I left my home in Portland, Oregon in February driving my four-wheel-drive RV to the very tip of the Baja Peninsula to work and play in Paradise. Of course I brought a pair of back up glasses since I have double vision and need major correction. But when I packed from my RV and flew from Cabo San Lucas to Oklahoma City, I looked at that back up pair of glasses and thought I would not need them for the five days. I'd be back in America. My glasses broke today and I can't see without them. One short Uber ride to Midtown Optical and I was surrounded by caring staff who immediately found the perfect solution and repaired my glasses.and get this they did it for free! For my Thank You Thursday review, I'm thanking Midtown Optical. Since I turned 40 this year, I decided to get my eyes checked. I have great vision, but I just felt it was important to have a doctor who knows me, who has my chart on file, and can check every year to see how I'm doing. I spend a lot of time on my computer, so it was really good advice to get some blue lenses. They have really helped my eyes to be less tired during the day. I do notice a difference, like today I forgot to wear them and I am totally over it by this point. I had a great experience from making the appointment, getting checked in, talking with Dr. Greenhaw, and getting my new glasses. The staff did a great job getting to the bottom of some weirdness with my insurance, and did it in a fast and friendly way (friendly to me as well as the folks on the other end of the line, which you love to see). I hope you guys are taking care of yourselves and your eyes. As I tell my kids, we only get two and we have to take care of them! Thank you Dr. G and your excellent staff. I will SEE you next year! I highly recommend coming here to get your eye exam and contact lenses. I didn't get eyeglasses but it looks like they have a variety of frames to choose from. Making an appointment ahead of time was easy. They will call you the day before to remind you of your appointment. Upon arrival, you check in and fill out the paperwork. I was a new patient. I was seen in less than 10 minutes after my appointment time. After a couple tests on my eyes, Dr. Greenhaw saw me and we did the usual "what about this...is this better? 1 or 2, 2 is better? Ok!" I was done with my appointment in under an hour. They participate with plenty of insurance plans, including my own. I had a very low out-of-pocket expense for the eyeglasses exam, contact lens exam, and a year's supply of disposable lens. My contact lens were delivered to me in less than a week. Really great experience here. I was between two different prescriptions (-2.25 and -2.20 or something like that) and Dr.Greenhaw took the time to let me try out both prescriptions. I was having a hard time determining which one was the better prescription, so he took me out of the room and let me read the restaurant signs outside. Very creative, patient and kind! I don't have a single complaint about this place. Dr. Cody Greenshaw was amazing. He was very thorough during the eye exam and contact lens selection process. I've had eye exams for most of my life and have not had any other optometrist take the time to explain things in such detail for me. They use a different method for glaucoma testing that didn't involve the air puff which is a definite plus. Although it's just a harmless puff of air, I get quite anxious in the moments leading to the puff. This was the first anxiety free glaucoma test that I've ever had. read more

I appreciate Cody's enthusiasm as a practitioner, the space is contemporary and they keep a excellent selection of frames, from Tom Ford and Oliver Peoples to more affordable options as well. The Dr. was quite congenial, but one of the front office/intake techs seemed unhappy to be there. Unfortunately, they made up a reason ('chief complaint') for my visit--which I didn't see until I looked at the screen while waiting for the Dr. I was just there for a check up since I hadn't been in a while. Also, received an unexpected puff of air--which maybe was on purpose so I didn't blink or anything. Prices are a little steep as well, but I guess that is to be expected. I have been taking my family to this place for three years, giving them, roughly, $1,0000-$3,000 of business each year. Two years ago, I asked the optometrist for the best, toughest pair of frames and lenses possible. He recommended a set that was $1,000 with a two-year warranty on these Flexon-like frames that were supposed to be tough. The bridge broke with no provocation the following year. They replaced the frames, to then only break the following year LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED. Now I'm waiting on a replacement bridge/frame for over a month since, magically, the frames are discontinued. Not happy with this. Not sure I'm staying with them once I get this settled. read more

This review pertains only to the optical shop, not the Doctor as I already had a recent exam from an M.D. I came to this shop because I had won a gift certificate just the week before for 30% off all eyewear. There was nothing on the certificate that said it was not valid with any other offers and there is no expiration date. Their frames are on the expensive side but I managed to pick out a moderately priced $300 frame. With certificate this would be $210 and with my VSP insurance allowance of $130 I thought I would get a nice frame for $80. They would not honor the gift certificate and the insurance. I fail to see how these are related. They also quoted my lenses with several add-ons that they would not remove at my request. The final quote with my insurance was almost $500 when it should have been closer to $300. I left without purchasing my new glasses. :-( read more

This was a wonderful experience! I highly recommend coming here for eye exams and getting new contact prescriptions. The patient services team did a wonderful job making sure I could walk in and have my appointment started as soon as possible, the establishment was incredibly clean and beautiful, and there was no wait time at all! The Dr. made sure our appointment was efficient, but that we were thorough in decisions to change my prescription. He even took me outside to test different lenses to try them out in a "real-world" setting, something that has never been done in my last 22 years of going to the eye doctor. I came there the first time, and they rushed me in and out. I ordered contacts. When I tried to return the contacts (because they dried out after 3 hours), they didn't do anything to try to fix it. Luckily my sister worked there, or else I wouldn't have gotten my contacts that worked for me, since she had a good relationship with the contact rep. Terrible place.
