This morning I was diagnosed with shingles on my face, and my doctor wanted me to see an optometrist right away to make sure it hadn't spread to my eyes. After leaving the office, I started calling around trying to find someone who could see me the same day. After a bit of a hunt, I found Oklahoma City Vision. The receptionist was super nice and told me to just come on in since I was already nearby instead of waiting an hour and a half for my appointment time. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted right away. Both receptionists were so friendly, and I was called back about 10 minutes after checking in. The tech who helped me was amazing--so kind, knowledgeable, and familiar with autoimmune conditions. She took her time going through my medical history and made me feel really comfortable. After she finished, I only waited a few minutes before Dr. Pitts came in. He was so patient, kind, and detail-oriented. I've been getting annual eye exams for over 30+ years, and I've never had a doctor be so thorough or explain things in such detail. Usually, I get my exam, grab my prescription, and leave--but this visit was completely different. Right away, Dr. Pitts noticed I had severe dry eyes and actually took the time to talk through past treatments and new options besides just eye drops (which never seem to be covered by insurance anyway!). I had no idea there were other treatments available, so that was a really pleasant surprise. Thankfully, the shingles hadn't spread to my eyes, so I decided to go ahead and do my regular exam. Dr. Pitts showed me the images of my eyes and explained everything so clearly. I told him I hate driving at night because I can't see well, and he figured out it was because of my previous prescription! He explained exactly what needed to be fixed. I couldn't remember what vision insurance I had, and I planned on paying out of pocket. I told the tech this as well. She started naming vision insurance one name sounded familiar VSP. While helping me with contact lenses, she took it upon herself to check my insurance and found that I actually had VSP coverage. That ended up saving me about $250! She definitely didn't have to do that, but it meant so much. Overall, I was so impressed and grateful that they fit me in last-minute and still gave me such a thorough, unhurried exam. Dr. Pitts and his team were wonderful from start to finish. I left there understanding more about my eyes than I ever have before. I also left with a week's worth of trial contacts, and my vision already feels so much better! I'm actually excited to go back next week for my recheck, dry eye treatment, and to pick out some new glasses. read more

I went to Oklahoma City Vision recently and had my eye exam done. Dr. S. Forester did a great job with my exam. He explained my vision issues and gave me great information on what I should do moving forward. It was the sales associate that hurt this experience. This people was new and didn't know all that she needed to know to make this experience better. She didn't listen to what I asked for when it came to my glasses. She put down the wrong information to start. Then she charge me 75.00 more because she messed up. She called me the next day and told me it would cost me 150.00 more because she messed up again. That is 220.00 more for glasses and I brought my old frames in. I didn't mind the cost at first, but to charge me twice, more because of your mistake is wrong. She should have eaten that cost to keep my business. Now, you liss my business and my family's because of it. Don't put people on the floor if they are not ready to do the job. Or have someone double check their work. I will still use Dr. Forester, but I will not buy glasses from their shop. read more

Called around noon for an appointment for myself and my son, in the hopes of getting a same day appointment. To my surprise, they had openings available and worked with my schedule to accomodate. We arrived about an hour early and, after filling out the new patient paperwork, we were called back without a long wait. Everyone was super friendly and professional. Their frame selection was pretty expansive and moderately priced, compared to other places. After insurance we spent about $400 for 2 pair of glasses with the special coatings necessary (UV, anti-glare, and some coating to protect your eyes from computer blue light). Only downfall is having to wait 7-10 business days for final product. All in all, definitely a place we'll return to. read more

Absolutely love this place! Everyone from the receptionist to the doctors are so friendly and helpful from the second you walk in the door. Dr forrestor is super personable he will talk to you about your kids or vacations coming up. He makes it a point to get to know you as a person rather than just another number. I would give them a better review because they did get me in super last minute however the lady that helped me choose my glasses Maigan lied to me, on top of Dr forester not giving me my paper prescription after asking to go somewhere else to choose glasses 3 different times. Knowing I needed my glasses to drive, and I won't be here all next week, I literally leave for a trip where I am driving around 40 hours in total, and need my glasses to drive, I'm leaving Sunday. Maigan told me my glasses would be ready by 11/03/23 and I should receive a call on Friday when they are ready. it's 11/3/23 and I haven't received a call about my glasses being ready like I was promised, and then I look on their website and their business hours says 7-11 am, and they won't be back open until Monday. WHEN I AM GONE ON MY TRIP. I am BEYOND angry and disappointed. They refused to give me my prescription on paper so I could take it elsewhere that has a quicker time to get glasses, and they're EXTREMELY overpriced and just want your money so they can have money in their pockets. I am so sorry I ever came here. I brought my 10-year-old daughter here and have regretted it ever since. I am embarrassed about the reason I chose to make a change to this place to begin with, but in the interest of full disclosure, I will share that it was because my daughter said she wanted Gucci frames and this was the only place in the OKC area that clearly featured them as an available option according to my online research at that time. (Ironic, as she ended up with contacts instead of glasses, but oh well.) Even though on the intake questionnaire I answered "No," we are not interested in contact lenses at this time, Dr. Forester and everyone else throughout the process at our initial visit pressured my daughter to get them. She has astigmatism, and we have since learned that it is very difficult to fit the proper lenses to her irregularly-shaped eyes, especially on the first try. In fact, it may take 4-6 weeks to adjust to the contacts even if they are correct, and will likely require many adjustments along the way and even beyond that to find the perfect fit. My daughter was given a 10-day sample of contacts with a follow-up appointment after 10 days where we were pressured to buy a one-year supply of contacts (I think it cost $600-700, and yes, we did buy the one-year supply before we left the office that day.) NO ONE with astigmatism, especially a CHILD, should EVER be pressured to buy a one-year supply of toric contact lenses after a mere 10-day trial. It's now two years later. Looking back, I know my daughter tried her best. She was able to continue to suffer through wearing them for a few more weeks and then (I learned later) began to take them out as soon as she got to school because her eyes were so irritated and she couldn't see any better anyway. Our little girl must have been prime pickings for Oklahoma City Vision Source to prey upon, as she was an impressionable young girl tired of being made fun of by a few horrible kids just because she wore glasses. As I was just telling her dad, it's not the hundreds of wasted dollars or my own frustration that matter to me. It's that I scolded my daughter repeatedly for not wearing her contacts. And all that time, until I was able to get her some glasses, she was not only ashamed through no fault of her own, but also, SHE COULD NOT SEE. read more

This clinic is a benchmark of quality. Everyone from the front desk staff to the optometrist to the optician were phenomenal. They use the latest technology for eye evaluation (i.e. no dilation) and are highly skilled at what they do. My exam with Dr. Forrester was very thorough and he is extremely cordial and easy going. He went over my retinal images with me in detail and really focused in on overall eye health. Their frame selection is outstanding with high end brand names at affordable prices. And as if that wasnt enough, they were punctual (my appointment started right on time) and a complete first time evaluation and frame purchase took a grand total of 45 minutes from walking in to walking out. Not fond of the sales tactics of this place at all, outside of that, it's an ok place. When I walked in, I was immediately acknowledged by staff, filled out the obligatory medical paperwork, and someone called me back soon after. The usual eye tests were performed. The last test, the eye tech gave me 2 options. To have a picture of the back of my eye taken, and it will be an extra 30$ or eye drops, causing light sensitivity and other side effects for the next 4-6 hours, at no extra cost, as it's covered by my health insurance. I didn't have the money in my budget to pay the $30 but I had other things to do today using my eyes, therefore I begrudgingly agreed to the $30 upsale. Dr Pitt was very knowledgeable, and was pretty good about communicating everything. The 30$ picture that I paid for? It was used for 30 secs. It seemed pointless to forfeit a weeks worth of gas money or lunch money. Afterwards when I opted for a pair of glasses, I was assisted by an optician. He advised me that he would look over my insurance and see what they'd pay for. Meanwhile, I could look over the frames, try a few on. When he came back over, he didn't mention my insurance and recommended a few expensive Ralph Lauren frames. I asked how much my insurance paid, he gave me the amount. Of the 400 frames they had on display, only 5 fit into they price range, and I have great insurance with a fortune 500 company. They should really have more options for people that don't want to spend 200$+ on a pair of frames. I found a pair covered by my insurance, and the optician gave me a bill for 155$. I asked what does that include, as my copay is 20$, I've agreed to that eye picture for 30$, it should only be 50$. He explained that Dr. Pitt preferred that I get non shatter, non glare lenses with a few other thing, and the basic lenses are not recommended. No. Give me the basic. This place had the climate of a used car dealership. I'm cancelling my glasses order first thing tomorrow, and wont be back. Avoid this place. read more

Just had my second visit to see Dr Joseph Phillips, and this place is great! Pros: - They got my in to my appointment 10 minutes early. - Dr Phillips has a great personality and is fun to chat with (as is the rest of the staff). - They embrace newer technologies when checking out your eyes (yay for no dilatation!). I'm not sure why other reviews are complaining about a $30 charge for the optomap retinal exam service...its absolutely worth it not having to get your eyes dilated and then have to deal with that for a few hours. Also, the cost of that was included in my exam price and was not an extra fee. - They are great at explaining how VSP works and what it covers. - I never felt like I was trying to be up-sold on frames/lenses/contacts even when I told them budget was not an issue. - I ordered a years worth of contacts, but they still gave me a pair for free while I wait for the order to come in. For someone as blind as me, it was really nice to have contacts to wear while trying on frames. Cons: - At check-in the receptionist seemed to be having an awful day and greeted me accordingly - The selection of frames could be bigger...although I had no time finding something I loved. read more

The waiting room was also a bit loud from clients discussing lense and frame options in the open area adjacent to the lobby. But everyone was friendly, super receptive to comments/concerns, and detailed in response to questions. I appreciated (OU alum) Dr. Brown's explanations and use of pictures to describe healthy vs unhealthy eyes. I don't have a go-to optometrist here in the city so I went with recommendations through co-workers and Yelp (of course). I somehow cut the cornea of my right eye and had to see someone ASAP. It was probably the worst few days of my life because I don't wear glasses and my right eye just so happens to be the visually handicapped one. The latest appointment they have is 4:30 so naturally I had to take it. I met with Dr. Pitt who was super nice and helpful. He prescribed some medication, explained how to use each and sent me off to the check out desk. I wasn't sure if my insurance covered the cost of vision, but the lady submitted a claim anyway. Lucky she did that because I got some money back! My only reservation was the fact that he charged me for the follow up office visit. I should have asked if the follow up appointment was even necessary, but he made it seem like I should come back regardless if my condition got better. I'm not made of money and am saving for a wedding so that kind of sucked. If you do visit this place, make sure you ask about the costs up front before dropping by. read more

The office is super friendly about scheduling appointments, the facility is lovely, and most of all, Dr. Forester is an expert and a perfectionist. I want perfect vision using Paragon CRT and he assures I get it. Dr. Forester is very much a teacher. If you're an information addict like me, he's your optometrist. I am new to Oklahoma City and needed my annual eye exam. I Googled optometrists and chose Oklahoma Vision Source because of location and generally good reviews. The eye exam and ordering new glasses and frames went well. After that it went down hill quickly. About 8 days after ordering my glasses I received a call to tell me that my glasses had come in but they were sent back to the lab because there were errors on the lenses. It was annoying, but mistakes happen. I explained that I would be leaving town for a business trip at the end of the week and would be gone for 2 weeks. I was told that it should not be a problem getting my glasses before my trip. The new glasses did not arrive for 10 days long after I had left town. I get another call and I am once again told my lenses had to be sent back to lab due to errors. My prescription is not a complicated one or difficult to make. After another week I get another call to tell me my glasses are ready to be picked up. By this time I have returned and left again on another trip. Another week later I'm back and go in to get my glasses, I'm asked my name by one of the technicians and she goes to the back presumably to get my glasses. After about 10 minutes she comes back and asks for my old glasses so they can put in the new lenses. I tell her I purchased new frames also. She returned to the back and after about 15 minutes comes back to tell me my new frames were left at the lab and they don't have them. If I can wait 30 minutes they will get the frames. An hour and a half later the supervisor comes out and hands me my glasses and says let me get you something to read. I put the glasses on and read the card and tell him they are good. He made no offer to check or adjust the fit until I told him they were too loose. They were about ready to send me away again when I ask for the case that should accompany the new frames. They never apologized or offered any thing to make up for the inconvenience they caused me and tried to excuse the problems because they were just so busy. I will not be back nor would I recommend them to anyone. read more

When asked why they didn't try calling again, they replied it is their business practice to only call once! I had a TERRIBLE experience while getting a routine contact lens exam completed. From the jump, the receptionist (my first point of contact at the office) didn't look me in the eye when she greeted me and frankly seemed slightly annoyed that she had to get me signed in; her greeting was canned and the process of giving her my ID, insurance card, and paperwork came off as very transactional. I almost left before signing in but decided to have a little patience and compassion in the case that she was having an off day (I've been there; I get it). As I was signing in, I asked her how much I'd have to pay out of pocket that day. My exact question was, "How much will I have to pay today?" She called another staff member over, and both told me I'd have to pay $99 because my insurance would cover $50 of the $149 total. I repeated "$99?" and she confirmed. I grappled with this for a moment because it was higher than I had budgeted, but I decided to move forward with the exam. My experience with the actual exam was average. Dr. Pitt was very thorough but in a very rushed, business-as-usual way, like I was a patient on a long and lucrative check list. He was nice but not warm. Honestly, that's the way all of my interactions with the staff felt. It's clear it's a busy office, and I've been in busy offices before, but I've never felt so anxious to get through everything quickly, e.g., limiting my questions or shortening my responses. Even when Dr. Pitt asked questions, they felt like part of a script rather than genuine interest in me. I was feeling lukewarm about my time here, but I chalked my discomfort up to stylistic preferences, i.e., maybe I just prefer a warmer, more human touch, and maybe that just isn't the culture of this particular optometrist's office. I was doubtful I'd come back again, but at this point my experience was by no means terrible. Just maybe average, which was disappointing given I chose the office because of its glowing online reviews. I left Dr. Pitt's exam room and was guided to the contact lens tech (or whatever you call the person who goes over the total costs of the exam and lenses and assists you with getting the contacts in). It's at this point that my experience quickly deteriorated. Remember how I was told I'd have to pay $99 out of pocket? Well, the tech ran the calculations and my bill came to a whopping $179! And that's not including the contact lenses themselves. With some urgency, I told the tech I was led to believe I'd have to pay $99 and that I wouldn't have agreed to the exam that day had I known the cost would be nearly DOUBLE WHAT I WAS TOLD. She asked me for the details of why I thought I would pay $99; I explained. She asked the receptionist who confirmed I was told $99. The tech told me I still had to pay because I was given the cost of the exam, not the fitting, and she asked multiple times what the exact verbage of my question to the receptionist was: "Did you ask for the cost of just the exam?" Now why the heck would I ask for just the cost of the exam and not the rest of the services? And even if I did ask that question (which I'm sure several patients have asked when trying to determine how much they have to pay), why wouldn't you still give me the total costs for all services and make the fair assumption that that's the dollar amount the patient is asking for? As the service provider, you know what costs are involved; the patient (in my case, new patient) doesn't and so can't always ask the right question to get the right information. After this back-and-forth, the tech came back up to me and said Dr. Pitt agreed to take 50% off the cost of my lens fitting, putting my total at $139 (rather than the $99 I was told). Please note that Dr. Pitt never came up to me to apologize that his office had mistakenly misled me. I was/am not satisfied with this discount. Now, to some of you reading, this may feel like me "crying over spilled milk;" after all, I got the costs cut, right? But consider for a moment that not everyone has the budget to squeeze out an unexpected $40 for a contact lens exam (a luxury, not a necessity). Not everyone has that privilege, and that Dr. Pitt and his office staff could be so cavalier about it is alarming. Even more frustrating than the extra cost, however, was the lack of integrity that he and his office showed. Dr. Pitt clearly chose to line his pockets with an extra 40 bucks rather than honor the cost communicated. There exists an information asymmetry between provider and patient: the provider has way more information (and thus power) than the patient. Given this power imbalance, it's important that providers (a) be as honest and thorough as possible on the front end in informing patients, and (b) when an honest mistake happens, do not penalize the patient for being the unfortunate victim of the mistake. I felt utterly powerless. Optometrists are a dime a dozen. I recommend avoiding this one. read more

The reason I posted the three instead of a 5 star is I hardly got to interact with the staff! The tech, Cameron was wonderful! Had a great attitude and talked with me like I was a person instead of just a number going through the office! He did way more than any other tech I've ever seen so kudos to you Cameron! Now the bad part, the doc came in and didn't ask me anything about myself, because the tech did that. She just did my rx and sent me on my way. She did a very good job at describing my optomap pictures to me. It was just so cold and impersonal. The opticians were fine but once they found out I was previously an optician it seemed like they were less willing to help me. Again very cold and acted like I was just another number. Thanks for nothing OKC Vision source! My glasses took 2 MONTHS to come in. There was not even an effort on the part of staff to communicate issues with me until after I had contacted them a number of times. When I did talk to them, the optician told me, "maybe they could work something out in order to make this right," and this was never mentioned again. When they did finally come in, I went to pick them up, and the glasses were made differently than what I had ordered. They admitted that they had given me the wrong information at the time that I ordered them, and offered to let me order another pair, but i just took the ones I had. Not worth waiting another 2 months! Mind you, this was NOT a difficult pair of glasses... Will not be going back to this office again and I would not recommend them to anyone who enjoys communication and customer service!!! read more
