I made an appointment with this business a few weeks ago. I arrived on time. I was quickly shown to an examiner room. The optometrist examined my vision and recommended that I see a specialist. I was then given my eyeglass prescription and walked next door and handed my prescription to the person behind the counter. His instructions and professional demeanor gave me a great sense of security that this place was very well run. I was instructed as to what my options were and I proceeded too select frames and vision options. It was a great experience. Purchased 2 pairs of glasses about 6mos ago and to be honest, I wasn't really sure if it was the right place to get my prescription filled due to some unfriendly reports that had been written by others. Well I'm glad I didn't heed those bad statements and gave EF the opportunity to fill my prescription. I will never go back here. The people working the counter are not trained ( unless being trained in bullshi**ing you on why your glasses are not ready. I went back SIX TIMES for glasses. No concern for the time and gas spent doing this. There is no one hour service. Price for glasses and sunglasses are not cheap. The buy one get one free is just a bait and switch. They charge $200 per lens- meaning both right and left lens =$400 as it was explained, "some people have just one eye and that's why we do that" ‍ oh they have an explanation for anything you want to question. My glasses needed a simple repair. The screw kept falling out of the arm and would not screw in all the way. I took it to a local unnamed office and after 45 minutes they couldn't fix it. They suggested I take them to the office I purchased the from and I stated I did, it was their office They were of no help so I tried the eye glass factory on Milpas. We had a emergency, the side support had broken off my son's glasses. He tried to tape his glasses together, but nothing worked. We went to the Eyeglass Factory in Santa Barbara to see if they could do anything. The gentleman behind the counter told us that my son's frames were beyond repair but he thought he could take the existing lens and put them in some new frames. He personally picked out about 5 frames that he felt would work. We chose a pair and less than half-an-hour later the lens were mounted and we were out the door. This solved a huge problem for us. Thank you to all the folks in the Santa Barbara store. When it is time for new glasses, we will be definitely be coming back to the Santa Barbara Eyeglass store. read more

Got a great final result, after being a somewhat demanding client. I wanted the new lenses put into the frames I have had for decades, and really like. I needed to get to someone in a supervisory position, and that took a little time. Finally, I was able to drop off my old glasses, and I got the new ones in my favorite old frames in an hour's time. Service and staff are top notch. Brianna, Devon and Ricky are exceptional: professional, knowledgeable, friendly and kind. I haven't had any interactions with the technicians; however, I haven't had any issues with my lenses either so it's a win all the way around. This is why I have been patronizing the Eyeglass Factory for at least 15 years. I would say that 85% of the frames are 'vanilla'; however, there's a little section next to the sunglasses that has a few frames that 'walk on the wild side'. That's my spot. The buyer must have a great sense of humor because a few of them are really fun. The owners are good people and I do appreciate their businesses very much. The staff was really nice when I went twice this past week. I have been coming here for 4 years getting one to two pairs of glasses a year. When I picked my new pair up this week, I asked for a cleaning cloth (they gave me a case but no cloth). In the past I got a case, cleaning cloth and eyeglass cleaner complimentary with my purchase. I asked the man helping me for a cloth and he said they charge $5 for those now, per the Owner. I couldn't believe it. A cloth should be standard with your eyeglass purchase. I didn't even ask for the cleaner, just a cloth. I literally just spent $259 on one pair of glasses and couldn't even get one free lint cloth to go with them. Totally bummed! read more

Deeply disappointed, embarrassed to say that I've spent over $350 for a pair of glasses and had to return 3 times so far, the lenses were cut incorrectly and didn't align with my pupils, then the nose pads were missing and now I've just realized the frames are all twisted out of shape. I was scheduled for a 9:00 a.m. appointment I was there 10 minutes early but the office doesn't unlock their doors until 9:00 , the optometrist arrived late and kept the doors locked until 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment time when she finally unlocked the door she pointed to a clipboard and said there is some paperwork for you and walked away from me. Recently, I needed to replace my Rx glasses and received two pairs for the price of one and added a feature that will help me with bright headlights when driving at night. Very interesting, very factory-like store indeed. The thrills in the decor - this place is literally a factory....which as a consumer, thankfully tends to lead to lower prices on multiple levels - frames and lenses to be exact. They had plenty of discount frames under $100 up to over $200 - all quality, well known brands. Lenses are always price-y, but they do take some insurance, and, from my experience, there prices are very competitive compared to other outlets. FYI I plan to buy lenses from them, but i have not experienced them yet, other than to say they are reasonably priced, and i believe to be worth a try. read more
