I asked for UV/blue light protection and I did not get the protection even though I paid for it.

I've always disliked trips to the optometrist, but for once I found myself at ease here. As far as…read moreI can tell, the doctor (Greg Wenom) is very knowledgeable. The doctor was very patient with the rather annoying "lens 1 or lens 2" type tests especially on the very annoying pairs that seem especially close. His recommendations were clear and he provided enough of the reasoning for his recommendations that I was able to understand why he made the recommendations that he did. Just as importantly, I found the staff to be knowledgeable and easy to deal with. I have noticed that often it is easy to find a good doctor or to find a good staff, but finding both at the same time can be a surprisingly difficult task. But I think I have succeeded with this optometrist. This has easily been the best experience at an optometrist that I have had.

I have been a patient at Specialized Optical for about 6 years and I think Dr. Wenom and his staff…read moreare the best. He always performs a very thorough examination and takes time to explain what he's doing and answers all questions. I never feel I'm being rushed through. When I come into the office, I'm always greeted as a friend and not just a patient. Margaret is professional, knowledgeable and very friendly. She takes time to assist in choosing frames and does an excellent job to ensure correct placement of the lenses. I always know my glasses will be perfect and if I need any subsequent adjustments, they're always there to take care of me.

I came to try this place after I lost my doctor who moved away. I lost my glasses so there was no…read moreeyeglasses for this place to use as an estimation. The nurse assistant did the eye test ( the doctor does the other eye exam) so fast that she incorrectly measured my pupillary distance causing me to see double vision. I told the sale rep that I see 2 lights she said it's my astigmatism, now I found out incorrect pupillary distance cause double vision. Under her advised I should wear it a few days to get use to it. Bad advised, now I see double vision at night and I never see double vision in my entire life before. Then I noticed how I can only see the upper part of the lens and see weird way in the lower part, the rep again said it's because i have astigmatism. I thought astigmatism was supposed to be corrected by eyeglasses! I noticed there is a straight line across the upper part of the lens that I can see real good and the lower part seem to make everything look bigger - like way bigger, like a magnifying glass big. I couldn't walk or look down. The rep took the glass back to test my lens to see if the glasses was made correctly to the prescription. She said it is done correctly! I don't think so. I brought a single vision and I think they made the glasses as bifocal that's why I can see distance (upper part of the lens) and they did the lower part as reading glass but the doctor didn't prescribe the reading level. I went to the dollar store and looked at the reading glass to make comparison. The lower part of the lens looks just like +3 reading glass. Too strong that's why I see things bigger!!!! If they were going to make me a bifocal with no line for free then they should have just add +1 that would have work out and I would have been happy but then with the wrong pupillary distance I would still complain about the wrong prescription. The rep must have seen the different levels between the upper and the lower but still lied to me. The glasses were cute and staffs were nice but not so truthful when you complain about not seeing through the eyeglasses as it should have. At first 2 for $69 is cheap and free eye exam. I recommend not to do the $15 optional test. you can do that online for free. The 2 for $69 are cheap lens with lots of glare, but you can use a windshield treatment to get rid of the glare or cell phone anti glare solution for $10. You would have to apply the coat once a year or depend on your abuse. It's the prescription that causes me to return the glasses. I might have chosen the progressive (no line bifocal) but I wish they did it right since they made it for me anyway. If you select progressive and anti glare then it would be expensive for 2.

Dealing with this office has been the worst medical experience I've ever had…read more 2 years ago, I saw Dr Rupp for vision that had suddenly worsened. In total, I had 3 appointments and many tests. When all was said and done, I was told that my prescription was only slightly different. When I told them that my vision was still extremely blurry, and that I was still struggling to drive and work, I was told that my eyes were fine and sent on my way. In March of this year, I made another appointment because my vision was getting even worse. The tech who was testing my eyes again commented that my vision was only slightly changed from my last appointment. When I expressed that I didn't understand how that could be because I was struggling to do even basic things, she mentioned that maybe it was because of my cataracts. I responded that we should check to make sure that she had the correct patient file, because I did not in fact have cataracts, she corrected me and told me that I did. She then didn't have much to say (understandably) until the doctor came in. This time, I saw doctor Church. When I expressed dismay that I wasn't told that I had cataracts, and that I had no idea of what was going on, Dr. Church looked at me and told me that all he could speak to was the here and now and that my eyes were fine and my cataracts were "mild". Shortly afterward, I was ushered out of the office- with zero information about what cataracts meant for future health and what my care plan would be. After I returned home, I called back and spoke with the office manager Jeremy. I expressed concern about the breakdown in communication and stressed that more than anything, I needed some education and information about what this diagnosis would mean for me moving forward. Jeremy promised he'd call back the next day. He called back 2 days later to advise that he wanted to talk to Dr. Rupp and would call me the following Monday. After 2 weeks, I called and left a voicemail for him and asked for a callback. It's now been 3 weeks and I have never heard from him again. I was frustrated initially with the lapse in communication, but my bigger frustration and concern is that clearly, they don't care at all. A simple call back from a doctor (or anyone) would have fixed everything. More than anything, I just needed patient counseling. Apparently, they don't have any duty of care standards. The lack of professionalism is astonishing. I've since seen another doctor and will be getting surgery soon. I would never recommend this office for their appalling lack of communication, absence of customer service, and lack of care of their patients. I've had many health issues and procedures and this is the only negative review I've ever written. I understand that a breakdown in communication can occur, but the fact that I got zero acknowledgement (let alone any kind of apology)or even any information about what was going on with my own health is unacceptable.

Not sure if it's different employees. Needed a Prescription and my only two options were fax or mail. No option to text or email. Had to go in and pick up. Lastly the eye glass center is waaay over priced. Even the employees tell you to go somewhere else to get lenses and frames. Need to find a new provider for eye care.
