Best eye exam and/or glasses option in St. Pete. Jonathan, who may be the Manager - and if he's not he should be! - went out of his way to help me. I don't have a car do he told me he'd be sure to have my glasses made within the hour to accommodate my ride schedule. The associate was great at helping me pick frames but then told me it would be 3 hours. Jonathan stepped in and made sure they were done in an hour, then he fitted them perfectly to my face. They look great, and the service was superior. I chose basic frames so I got two pair for $89, in different colors. You cannot beat that anywhere! read more

After my last visit in January, I wasn't sure I'd ever go back, but the manager called me requesting to make things right and assured me that I'd be well taken care of. I returned today for a re-exam for contacts and Eyeglass World/Gulf Coast Optometry lived up to the 5-star reputation they once impressed me with. Dr. Manzella was very thorough and answered ALL my questions, even those not pertinent to me until my eyes are older. Dr. Manzella was professional, precise and even inquired about my terrible January visit so that she could help to make things better for the practice overall. The optical technician was very polite with a nice balance of professionalism and personable characteristics, even offered me water during my very short wait. I feel I got a very comprehensive exam and have no doubts as to the health of my eyes or the precision of my contact prescription. *Ask for the regular Optometrist (Dr. Manzella), don't go to the fill-ins. I learned my lesson and will schedule accordingly next year. read more

First, to be upfront, Eyeglass World is NOT the least expensive place I have had gotten glasses over the last twenty years: for a complicated prescription and top-line frames, things can be pricey. But they have consistently provided top-notch glasses, never a glitch and stand solidly behind their products. At least a dozen times over the years, I have had to return--usually because I did something stupid, like sitting on my glasses on the couch and knocking out the lens, and one of the great folks there has come to my rescue--without charge--putting them back together for me. The waste of two hours of my time ... I had a 10:15 Appointment. I got there around 9:35 still had to wait till 1015 no problem. The eye foctor immediately commented about my thyroid meds. He said if I used natural meds I would deter me from my producing Thyroid hormones. I did not ask for this advice!!! This company advertises "same day"glasses ... no one said anything otherwise. I even said to the clerk could I come in Saturday to get my glasses? She said Sure! Ordering my frames, He said it would be 5 to 7 days!!!! I told him I thought it was "same day" and he replied "oh that's just for normal every day glasses not fir what you ordered" Who orders glasses without any enhancements??? Commercials say there is an eyeglass lab on site. I didn't see one here. Set an appointment online, and called to ensure my insurance was accepted. The first time I called I had to leave a message.... I received no response. Called the next day and the worker was obviously flustered, and told me she had deleted all my info after me just telling her my insurance info. She told me she would have the techs give me a call back should they find it wasn't accepted. I didn't receive a call, so I assumed I was good to go. Arrived for my appointment and was told my insurance was not accepted..... complete waste of time and embarrassing as the receptionist loudly told me it wasn't accepted in the open lobby area. Will never go back. I'll just go to visionworks across the street even if my insurance isn't accepted because at least I know they have good service and won't embarrass me. read more

I came here twice (find glasses, pick up glasses) before writing a review. During the first visit, the staff lets me browse on my own without bothering me too much. Once I selected the frame, Sierra (I believe that's her name) helped me choose my sunglasses. She was very attentive, making sure I choose what I need. Second visit on a Monday afternoon to pick up my prescription glasses, they only have two staff in the front desk to assist 4 customers. I had to wait 10 mins before being serve, but Drew was very friendly, heacknowledged me right away as I walked in the door. Overall, I can tell the staff is working hard to assist every person that walks in the door. It's difficult when you only have two staff and 5 customers. Would come back to this place. Oh, I forgot to mention that I like the parking area being in the back. It's a lot easier for customers to park. read more

A few hours later that day they called and said their machine was down. Instead of having another eyeglass World make them they said they had no idea when they'll be made. Make sure you check what they are charging you for glasses!!! They are SHADY AF. They will try to charge you and your insurance so they make double. Check every single line item they are charging against your benefits which they should have printed out for you. read more

OSHA VIOLATION! Access blocked! Worst customer experience and unprofessional environment. Called to schedule appointment and was told to arrive by 5:30 pm by manager Drew. Drove through storm yet still arrived at 5:27 and the front door that has handicap ADA ramp is blocked by only a paper on door. Pouring down rain the man sitting at the checkin desk facing us less than 2 ft away laughed at us and would not direct us which way to go. Sign simply stated to go to back entrance. Walked in pouring rain around building to back entrance and even though we still arrived at 5:29 pm the same individual who laughed at us and then ignored our plea for direction now advised that we would have to reschedule for another day as it was past the check in time. It was 5:29! The total lack of customer service and access to ADA individuals is shameful and has been reported. read more

I can't say enough amazing things about this place. I needed to find an eye doctor for my 9 year old daughter who has never worn glasses before. I'm so glad I brought her here. Courtney did her initial intake and made my daughter feel so comfortable. Then we saw Megan, who was the eye doctor for the full exam and right from the start she made my daughter feel relaxed. Both Courtney and Megan explained things directly to my daughter and on a level she could understand. Courtney even came out into the store and helped my daughter pick out some frames. Jerry was the one who helped us with the final purchase of the frames and making sure they were a good fit for my daughter's face. He had her laughing and giggling so much!!! They were even able to get 1 pair ready for her in under 15 minutes so she could start wearing them that day. All the staff in this store are super helpful and knowledgeable!!! I called and asked if I could make an appointment, and how much it would be. The receptionist told me $69.99. I asked how soon they could get me in. They said today, 4:00. I said yes and booked the appointment. I arrived about 10 minutes late, and the very same receptionist called me out on my tardiness. I apologized. Then I looked around and there were no other customers in the reception area, and all the office visit doors were open (except one), revealing empty rooms. I filled out my paperwork and checked the box for "contacts" as the reason for my visit. After I turned in the paperwork, the receptionist looked it over and then took me to do the pretesting (the forehead-chin machines, one with the farmhouse and the one that does the air puffs), telling me that my visit today would be $69, unless I wanted to get a special test for glaucoma and something else- then it would be about $88. I said no thank you, I just want the cheap one. We finished the pre-test and the doctor came to look at me. She asked me a bunch of questions and did the tests, then told me that my eyes seemed to have gotten a LOT better since my last visit to an optometrist (from -3.00 to +.75), and I'm actually a little farsighted now. Then she looked hard at my paperwork and asked if I've started taking any new meds since my last visit. I said yes; my antidepressants (about 2 years ago, which was six months after my last visit). Then she asked if I was currently wearing contacts... and we both realized that the receptionist had neglected to take my contacts out, DESPITE that I had written "contacts" as a the reason for my visit, and that he had stared directly into my eyes on TWO DIFFERENT MACHINES. So I took the contacts out, and it turns out that my eyes haven't gotten any better (they're still -3.00). Then we finished the appointment, and I went to pay. The receptionist hands me my prescription and tells me, "Okay, that will be $119." And sticks out their hand for my card, like they didn't tell me $69 both on the phone and in the pre-testing room. I responded, "You told me it was going to be $69- twice." They responded, "Yeah, well, I didn't know you were coming for a contact exam. It says eye exam on your paperwork." I responded, "I wrote 'contacts' as the reason for my visit when I checked in. And you did not ask me on the phone what was the reason for my visit, when I asked how much it would be to have an appointment with you." They basically shrugged and suggested that I could come back for the prescription if I couldn't pay all of it today. So I borrowed some money and paid the bill, but the customer service here is the worst I've had in YEARS. Very bad. Would not recommend. read more

Yesterday I went in for an eye exam for contact lenses. I had called ahead and made an appointment and asked for the price of the exam as well. Thank goodness I wrote down the name of the person who quoted me. When I got there I was told that was NOT the correct price and it would be substantially more. I had to speak to the assistant manager to get this corrected, which he did. This is most definitely a 'sales focused' operation, not so much service. It reminded me of some timeshare sales rooms I worked in on Maui! The only real bright spot was the doctor who was friendly and professional the entire time. read more
