Why wait for two weeks and get inferior workmanship from distant labs when in most cases you can have your glasses the same day? I went to Visionworks to have new lenses installed in my frames and they said they could. Wrong! Ten days later they said they had "broken" my Autoflex frames and I had to select an inferior frame instead. When my Autoflex frames were returned to me I saw they were NOT broken and took them to Eyeglass World where they replaced a few screws and cut and installed new lenses. Been going here for years but the quality and attention to detail has really gone down! When you spend $600 on a pair of prescription sunglasses you would think to make sure everything is perfect. Mirror lens had to be ordered. Week later came in with one lens some material fused center of one lens and popped off the coating. Ordered another set of mirror lens, this was cut locally and installed there. Several scratches on the brand Rayban frames and the mirror coating had two small stains or discolored spots. Can't see them until you're in the sunlight. 2.5 weeks later and still a problem. Very poor quality control or they just don't care in the back. Either way, not worth going back anymore. My husband has worn glasses for years and we have bought glasses at many different places. The contrast with the service at this location is remarkable! We had thought glasses are just expensive and trying to haggle over misleading "deals" was just part and parcel of buying new glasses. However, this is the second year we have purchased from this location and the customer service is exceptional, the range of prices is helpful for any budget, and they do not upsell or have hidden costs in their specials. A lense popped out due to a tiny missing screw. I stopped in to Eyeglass World in St Pete first thing the next morning and was met by a friendly tech who solved my problem in 5 minutes. This Is a great place to get glasses, the staff is super friendly and they have a great collection of frames and multiple options for lenses. Their prices are so reasonable for the great quality and service they have. I needed an emergency glasses wile visiting town, Tammy and Lindsey are great and they helped me much and in less than 24 hours a perfect pair glasses were waiting for me. Not to forget the rest of staff I could not pick every body's name but they were all very nice. There was no wait at all and I got an excellent service. I have been using glasses since I was 16 years old and so far this is the best glasses place I have been to. This place is amazing! I have been in there several times to get sunglasses tightened (that I did not purchase there mind you) and they are super helpful and quick every time I go in there. This last visit my glasses and got bent up pretty bad and wasn't even sure they could be fixed. I met with I believe Dawn D, and she took them and worked on them both of us not feeling too optimistic about it, to be honest lol. She came back in less than 10 minutes and they were like new, I was blown away. Amazing service every time!! read more

Terrible customer service, lady was rude, said she could not give me a replacement contact lenses when the other location did with out a issue then when I ask how much the price of my contact lenses she said I would have to be put through another eye exam when I clearly have my prescription! I timely arrived for my 11am appointment and waited almost 10 minutes at the reception counter before walking out. During that time 3 different employees saw me standing there and 2 of them momentarily sat down right in front of me without acknowledging my presence. More importantly, I purchased 4 pairs of glasses last January following an eye exam and 3 of the 4 were never properly fitted requiring 4 return trips for adjustments and lens reinsertion. read more

Was on vacation and lost pair of glasses in ocean around 5:15pm and called eyeglass world. Guy on the phone was nice and said that they could get me a pair of glasses made because they didn't close until 7. I told them we could be there around 30 min. Arrived in time only for a lady named DAWN G. to exclaim that they would be closing in an hour (it was 5:50 when I glanced at watch) and they could do nothing . Even the lady beside her was trying to see if there was anything she could do , Dawn kept cutting her off being persistent in offering no help. As I explained on the phone earlier, our flight leaves at 7:00 am the next morning and we are hours away from the airport and really need to glasses to see and be able to get home Dawn seemed to be more concerned about being able to do NOTHING for the last hour of her workday . The place was bone dry not another customer on site , prescription was on hand as single vision . Only reason this store should get 1 star is because Dawn G REFERRED us to LensCrafters in the mall. As I type this message it is still only 6:15 pm and I know they (eyeglass world) could have cut a pair for a paying customer. Ended up calling LensCrafters who also closed at 7pm by the way and explained the situation and they are doing their best to help out unlike eyeglass world. Update: LENSCRAFTERS in the mall just let us know that our glasses will be ready in 25 minutes! It is now 6:32 pm . What a shame eyeglass world read more

For 2 years every single experience I have had here has been maddeningly frustrating. First, they broke my Prada frames in 2014 while putting in lenses. (I got a credit, but not as much as I paid for the replacement frames.) Next, the doctor prescribes me daily contacts, but writes down 2 week contacts so when I go back for more contacts it requires a whole new exam to get what I've been using for a year. I ordered 2 pairs of glasses and contacts, taking one of the pairs home and being assured I would be called the moment either of the other two were ready. No one ever called me. 2 weeks later I checked in and was advised they were just sitting there and had been for a while...oops. I kept coming back because my prescriptions are there but now that I have to pay for a new exam anyway I will use this as a catalyst to escape and warn others. The people there are nice and well intentioned but holy Zeus on a stick I would rather shove chopsticks under my fingernails than ever have another consumer interaction there. read more

I will not be going back. I had my glasses done here and the doctors were great, but the ones who put the prescription in kept putting the wrong information in. I went back seven times and they still have not gotten my second pair correct. They told me that I would have to "get used to it". You do not get "used" to a prescription you are already used to because they are in a different frame. I emailed corporate two times and called them once. They never responded to my e-mails and when I called, they told me they would call me back in an hour. Never heard anything from them! I spent well over $400 here for them to leave me hanging like this and refuse to right their wrongs. I was very polite and understanding, despite the fact that they kept making mistakes. I understand people are human, but this is out of hand. Refusing to fix my glasses they they did not fill correctly is on them and they refuse to fix and and corporate doesn't care either! I am a full time college student and went to them upon referral and I have never been so disappointment. That $400 has been wasted and for a full time college student paying their own tuition and books, really set me back with nothing to show for it. **EDIT- someone commented on my yelp review that the manger will be contacting me. No one has ever reached out to me. I have tried to get this handled. Corporate ignores me, the company does.. it makes no sense! How can you run a business like this? I'm appalled. Had to take a star away because my husband's glasses were made with many mistakes. It took over 2 weeks to get them back. I never could get anyone to LISTEN at this location and clearly need to document this experience as their VISION is apparently better than their HEARING. Now spanning six months, a simple order of two sets of lenses - just lenses - remains unfulfilled with many mistakes along the way, now including a set of lenses which DO NOT EVEN FIT THE FRAMES PROPERLY, and several sets useless to me. Much of the miscommunication is centered on one particular employee (we'll call J) for being presumptuous and for failing to listen. But he's not solely to blame as the issue *really began* with the optometrist making the prescription too strong in the first place, by increasing it from the test results - a fact that was admitted to me as being "standard procedure". My return visit, going directly to J, told him that I can see what is in front of me *better* without these lenses for being too strong. Apparently, that was translated to "increase the prescription", and the second set of lenses were even stronger. Came back to try and get these guys on track for what I know works, I bring with me a prescription and glasses from December 2016 (not 1.5 years previously) by a small shop who did my last two sets of lenses, each perfectly in one attempt and which *still are perfect for me today*. The only advantage EW has delivered so far was distance vision, which the previous did not (they were computer-only). I still use these same old glasses to this day - still perfect and I do not even need them everyday. The manager ran tests on these lenses and said they would pass this on to the optometrist to merge into a third prescription. I left both sets of frames again and we agreed to only do one for now and do the other after we agree upon the prescription. When the lenses were ready, I came by and tried the glasses on and they were perfect onsite for distance, but could not assess viability until using within my own working environment. Results? The same problem: seeing what is in front of me BETTER without them for being still too strong. And what is that working environment? An ergonomically-optimized desk with monitors adjustable on X, Y, and Z axes, best set 28 inches in front of me, and to which the glasses are intended as a *companion*, keeping me from leaning forward to view the screen, maintaining perfectly straight posture level eyes. The glasses from 2016 work perfectly in this environment to this day. So I bring back these latest EW lenses, meeting with J, who assumes the problem is these being progressive lenses and that I should "get used to them". In other words, he told me to "just live with it" but I still gave the benefit of the doubt and worked with them for 5 more weeks before calling again to correct the order. During the next conversation, I began to realize that he never heard me tell him that I HAVE ONLY EVER WORN PROGRESSIVE LENSES and he saw this as a "training" issue on my part, failing to understand that I cannot use these except for viewing *at a distance* and being USELESS for their intended purpose to wear while working. Same call, I next spoke to the optometrist on duty and requested that the they send me a printed copy of the original prescription and the prescription they merged with my 2016 prescription. Upon receipt, I could see that they were still going higher than necessary. After more than 3 months of this back and forth, I had pretty much given up completely. My friend had dropped by EW unannounced to pick up the 2nd pair of glasses and was told that they were "ready" EVEN THOUGH I HAD NEVER AGREED to the latest results! She brings them to me and the lenses cut for the frames did not even fit - you could fit a nail in between the edge of the lense and the frame. Clearly, they had lost the lenses that came with the frames on Day 1 - somehow, they do not have access to manufacturer's templates. I didn't tell her for a few weeks because this whole thing was such a fiasco and didn't want to make her feel any worse for having done me this generous favor, despite the fact we still have only useless results for both sets of frames. When the subject came up again and I told her what we ended up with, she decided to intervene and spoke to J, who then said something to the effect, "you know what I think - his frames are too small." Translation: "let us sell you another couple of glasses frames". Fact of the matter, again, I have *always had progressive lenses* and actually have *always had the same size frames and lenses*, too. She scheduled an appointment and I couldn't go, so I called and tried to speak to the optometrist instead, was put on hold for 1/2 hour, and asked to be called back when they checked on me. It ended there Going to another location will fix this order. Repeating myself has been a waste of time, so documenting this debacle necessary. I feel awful that a friend's sweet and generous gift has only been a headache. This Eyeglass World location sucks - I hope not all of them! read more

If I could give zero stars I would, site stated insurance was accepted, optical assistant said it was not, after we were already here. this is an ongoing issue with eyeglass world and feel it is purp to get people in the door. assistantrum stated the optometrist is not the same as the store. If that be the case they should both acce the same insurance or at least do a check before the inconv to the customer. horrible business practices. I have been paying about $550 for 1 pair of progressives with polycarbonite lenses and no antiglare with trading in my old pair of glasses at Lenscrafters. Eyeglass World offers the same plus the antiglare, plus a second pair free without taking my old glasses for about $425! I guess I have been ripped off by Lensecrafters long enough! Eyeglass World, my new place for glasses! FYI also stay away from Cohens Optical, the same pair there cost $650! read more

That being said - they were perfectly polite, prompt as could be expected, and had a fair variety of frames to choose from. I always hate the pushy sales techniques used by eyeglass people. I had accidentally bent the hinge on one side of my sunglasses. .I thought I had purchased them at Eyeglass World . Jordan greeted me immediately when I walked in. She said she would be happy to help me, but if I had not purchased them there, she would not be liable if they were damaged during the repair process. She went on to check for me. Unfortunately I had purchased them elsewhere. She offered to attempt to fix them but did need to stress that Eyeglass World could not be held liable if there was any damage incurred during the repair process. Sine I could not wear them as is and had no idea where I purchased them, I asked her to please try. She was back a minute later with the repaired sunglasses. Jordan did not charge me anything for the repair. She was a pleasure to deal with. Based on this attention to customer service, I would highly recommend Eyeglass World and Jordan in particular. read more

A few months ago... I purchased two set of glasses ... and one of the new glasses left lens simply fell out of the frame TWICE. During my second return trip to the store I expressed the fact that I wanted to have them to either remake the problem glasses or really "fix it"... I did not intend to return for lens reinsertion every few weeks. Yesterday, the left lens cracked. ... and the best they could do was to offer a minor discount replace the lens.... In my humble opinion, the product was never properly fitted... and their staffer's solution was to over-tighten the frame, resulting in cracked lens.
