they're pleasant enough, but the lens quality is absolute trash! i got the 'anti-scratch' protection and i've never had lenses scratched up SO badly. i had the first pair replaced for free in Reno, and when i came to Boise and went to have this second pair replaced, they told me they'd have to keep the frames as well for 1-2 weeks! The store in reno simply ordered the lenses and cut them to fit when they arrived, so i was able to keep my frames & old lenses in the meantime. i'd rather go back to americas best than get lenses from this place, that are just going to get all scratched up again. read more

We've had a great experience getting specialty glasses for Dad (age 87) in a hurry so he could actually see his only grandchild graduate from high school. He had cataract and glaucoma surgery on both eyes at another facility, and he has a significant astigmatism in both eyes. None of the other 4 places we checked that day could accommodate Dad's lense requirements on such short notice. That's when Eyemart Express came to the rescue. The prices were fair and the frame selection was expansive. My favorite part was how absolutely friendly, kind, and patient the technician was! This place needs much better management. While they're one of the most affordable eye care options in the valley, and I appreciate that they make glasses available for people without insurance. However, this place is a nightmare. I made an appointment for an eye exam and showed up slightly early. They took me back at my appointed time and did the preliminary screening. Then I waited in a back room for half an hour without any information about what was happening. I was on my lunch break and needed to go so I asked about the doctor. The moment I asked, he showed up. I don't know if they'd forgotten me or what but waiting that long was ridiculous. The doctor, Lavar Kofoed, was very nice and did a good job assessing my vision. He is kind and thorough. Five stars for him. When I checked out, I paid the advertised price plus a surprise $50 additional fee for contact lens fitting. They never tell you about that and don't disclose it when you book your appointment. It makes the prescription cost much more than advertised. They also didn't get my pupillary distance, which I need for my glasses prescription, so I had to go back. When I went back to get glasses there were a few shoppers, so I waited for 10 minutes without help, then a clerk took my name and put me on a waiting list. She said the wait would be 10 minutes which is fine. I understand. They need to help people. I looked around at glasses as I waited. They advertise $19.99 glasses. Well, they had five pairs of those. They had five pairs of $29.99 glasses too. The majority were $80 or more, with many $150 or more. I realize low cost glasses are hard to come by but saying they have cheap glasses but then only having 5 options really is a bait and switch. I waited 10, then 20, then 30, then 45 minutes. If they'd let me know it would be that long, I would have left and returned, but they didn't give me accurate information. I had to leave so I never got glasses. Just treat customers with respect, be up front about timing and cost, and people will understand. It's manipulation that they specialize at here that's frustrating. The office staff for the exam clinic is very nice, so they deserve a shout out for that. read more

Warning, do not go here. Someone who owns this terrible business should pay attention to the 0 and 1 star feedback they are getting, consistently. 45 minutes of my life wasted at the eyeglass center. Never again. This review is strictly for the miserable service that the eyewear people provide. The service here is non existent and a complete insult. After having an excellent and very thorough eye exam, I walked out to check in to the eyewear side of the business. I went to the counter and was met with repeated "We'll we right with you" from 3 different employees. Tiring of the BS, I took a chair and waited 10 more minutes until 3 different customers came in and a line was forming. One male employee went to the check in station and started taking names. I walked up and reminded him that he saw me standing there earlier. The answer I got was "right after one person." It was a person who came in after me. Then I watched the other two people who came in after me engage busy employees and they became the next two waited on. When one older female employee who seemed never to look at the check-in list waited on two more people who just walked in, I left. I can get glasses anywhere. If you want to get screwed, go to eyemart for glasses. The optometrist side is very efficient and I strongly recommend them. The eyeglass side of the business is ship of fools. read more

Was recommended to this company and the eye pros housed inside the Eyemart Express by one of my eye specialist, Dr. Beesker, but I am not sure I would recommend them. Made my appointment with them about 2 -21/2 weeks ago, made the appointment for 09/24 @ 9 am. They called less than 24 before my appointment and said you we need pre-auth from your insurance, however because I work I wasn't able to retrieve the message until after they closed. Who waits 2 weeks to inform a patient of pre-AUTH NEEDS. Showed up for my appointment, waited a half an hour and then they went oh we need to get the pre-auth and then we'll call you to reschedule. Okay wait you make me wait a half an hour, when you were already aware of the pre-auth need. I can't get that time back, not to mention all those on the Eye Pro side seemed pretty down trodden, no one smiled when having me fill out paperwork, no one smiled as they told me I would have to wait, no or made an attempt to apologize for wasting my time, other than the I'm sorry without even looking at me, just looking at computer. Would you believe they were sorry? I'll go back once the pre- auth is done because I need their service, but I will definitely let Dr. Beesker know how unimpressed I was with his recommendation. read more

Inside out: the place has an open layout, plenty of parking in the strip mall. Selection: I know there are tons of places to shop online for glasses, but there is no substitute for feedback from their friendly staff and the ability to try them on (virtual doesn't feel the same.) Top to bottom they have a reasonable selection for glasses. Service: It's busy, that's just a fact. No matter the time of day they always seem to have a wait. Ive seen a negative review on here about others being served before them when the person came in- and that seems to be because the one desk you check in at serves multiple purposes. Some people are there for fittings, some to purchase, some for repairs, it's not just first come first serve because all the needs aren't the same! That being said the place has lovely service, I've been coming for years and never had a problem. I've seen them own their mistakes and fix them, they are beholden to lab errors and product issue like everyone else these days and that can be frustrating but they do a great job. Broke my prescription eye glasses over the holiday weekend. Called the Nampa location on Monday to find out if I could get them repaired. Lenses were fine, but the frames were destroyed. The lady on the phone told me that was something they could do and it just come in. When I got off work, I went to the EyeMart Express near Best Buy in Nampa. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting. I guess I was hoping that they could either fix my existing glasses, or getting me new frames within a few days. I absolutely was not expecting how awesome they really were. Justina, the young lady who helped me, knocked it out of the park!! She went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations so far, it wasn't even funny. Not only did she find frames that fit my existing lenses perfectly, She had the lenses installed in the new frames in minutes. I was on my way in and out in less time than I possibly imagined with perfectly functional wonderful eyeglasses for less than $35 and less than 30 minutes. Great job! Special thanks to Justina. I give it a -1 I bring my four kids and my husband all come in for eye glasses. The customer service in the last few years have been terrible. I will no longer be bringing my family. I get that this probably won't change, but maybe some people will read and decide there are better places. Thank you for responding. I will not be back. In short: Amazing experience and results! Everyone single employee I interacted with was friendly, helpful and skilled. They produced two pairs of glasses for me in 28 minutes. I have a complicated RX, but they nailed it first try! Long story. Diamond Lake, Oregon (a bit north of Crater Lake). I was on a road trip from the SF Bay Area and trying out a new paddle board with my daughter. My phone (which I thought was secured to a waterproof float), fell into the lake and sank. I jumped in and got it! (The lake is fairly really shallow and super clear for about 100yds from shore). As we paddled and drifted, verifying that my iphone was good, I realized my glasses were gone. A search was fruitless. Maybe a rainbow trout can see better now :-) 1000's of driving miles left on our journey and I only had my reading glasses and sunglasses. Boise, ID was our next overnight stop. Sitting in the dock of the lake, I tried several places near Boise, and eventually connected with (Rod, I think his name was). I read off my RX, and he said "sure we have a full lab and could get those done for ya... same day." The next morning we were in Boise - and I was at EyeMart Express when they opened. They helped me quickly, told me about their ridiculous savings promotion, quickly helped me select two frames (honest feedback!) they said they'd be ready in about an hour, and I walked to get some coffee, thinking to visit the Old Idaho Penitentiary for a tour with the family while the glasses were made. But 22 minutes after I left EyeMart, I got a text that 1 of 2 was ready for pickup. I was still waiting for my coffee! Six minutes after that, the 2nd pair was ready! When I got back to EyeMart, the place was packed! The employees quickly worked through the queue of people ahead of me. I was prepared for disappointment and having to settle for not-so-great emergency replacement glasses. But I was surprised and delighted that they were perfect! It made the rest of our road trip safer, much more enjoyable, and more stylish for the photos! Thank you EyeMart team! read more

I have been buying eyewear for 30 years, and I have never had a worse customer service experience. This was my first, and last, experience at an Eye Mart. The eyewear specialist laughed when I didn't have a vision insurance card and asked if she could look it up. (I had just left Lens Crafters to get my prescription, and they were able to look it up.) Next, I asked if they could use my existing frames. She checked with the lab and came back and said, "no". She offered no explanation or any other options. I just left. I couldn't imagine what the experience of actually buying something from them might be like. read more

I can not say enough about the service after sale, at the Nampa Eyemart express..!!! I was initially happy when I purchased two pair of glasses in Jan. 2018. But when I needed some adjustments 355 days after my purchase , I spoke to Priscilla who was gracious , patient and efficient as too fulfilling my needs and answering my questions. She understood my issue and immediately took it to her manager . They solved my problem immediately. There is no need to say it , but I would never consider going any where else. AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! There were 3 people in front of me and I thought it would be a while until I was helped. In a matter of minutes I was being helped. The lady was super nice and gave sincere opinions on how the glasses looked. She went into all the details of the different options of lenses and I received all the information I needed to know. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I was able to pick up my glasses in no time! It only took 6 minutes!! Another gentlemen was there to help me and he adjusted my glasses perfectly! I've been using theses guys since they opened, I think. Most of my experiences have been pretty good, but this last time was dreadful. I had waited OVER an hour of my scheduled time while the staff was standing around chatting and laughing (the doctors, too.) When they finally said it was my turn, I asked if I was going to have to wait in the exam room some more ... and when they said "yes" ... I walked out and went to a different company nearby. I truly can't say that I'll ever be back. That was just so rude ... with no apologies, no nothing. Needed some emergency glasses TODAY and boy did they hook me up! Of course I checked Yelp first and saw a $20 off coupon connected to their website. Winning! I didnt have an appointment and it was absolutely no problem. I already had a prescription and just needed to get the cheapest glasses I could find to get me through the next 2 weeks. I was pointed in the direction of the least expensive frames and they didnt try to upsell me - totally appreciate that! They offer specials for frames - 2 pair for $40; or 1 pair for $20. My coupon got me $20 off outside of that special, so I actually got a $40 pair with $20 off! Again, they didnt try to upsell me on the lenses or add ons. They even took the time to review my old (incorrect prescription from a different doc, also not theirs) and tell me what was different any why. Just got a full refund on 4 pair of eyeglasses. I went in hoping they would attempt to make things right after multiple problems with my recent order. Their comment was the lab is busy. Told rep that was not an acceptable answer for poor quality lenses continually being produced and coming out of their lab. She agreed and apologized multiple times, and cheerfully gave me a refund. I've gone here the last 10 years and really wanted to like these guys. After 3 eyewear replacements over the last decade enough was enough. I won't rant but suffice it to say, cheap Chinese frames, poor lens quality control and repeated attempts to have to fix bad orders and lenses multiple times just to get it right, wore on me. On 5-20-22 I went to Eyemart Express in Boise, ID to have my glasses adjusted, the employee who was working on them broke the right nose piece. I had purchased my glasses over 2 years ago and therefore she would not offer me any compensation except to tell me I needed to purchase another pair. She asked her two fellow employees what other options there were, one of them looked at her phone and suggested The Jewelers Bench. My partner and I asked where it was, she said it was near Harbor Freight and the price would be $7.00, she repeated Harbor Freight and $7.00 multiple times. We left to find The Jewelers Bench and could not find it near Harbor Freight after driving around and finally walking the whole strip mall that Harbor Freight was in. Feeling frustrated, I googled The Jewelers Bench and found the correct address. We arrived at the Jewelers Bench and Paul was able to solder my right nose piece and adjust them for $35.00 not $7.00. We paid Eyemart Express a second visit and my partner professionally explained to the employee who gave us the misinformation that he did not appreciate being lied to and we would not be doing business with them in the future. The employee had gotten a call from Paul before we arrived and explained to her that she misquoted the price and the address. The ineptness of this employee and her co-workers was astounding let alone the exceptional level of pathetic customer service! Thank goodness you have choices for optical stores, Eyemart Express should not be one of them! read more

As a newer Idaho resident, this was my first eye exam in the area. The exam went well, Dr. Kofoed was very nice, and the process went fairly quickly. I was less than enthused about the support staff. When I checked out, two employees thought their conversation about weekend plans was more important than acknowledging me standing at the counter, credit card in hand. The staff in the frames section was more attentive. I brought in my own frames to have lenses replaced. The young woman who worked with me did her due diligence to search the insurance codes to see if she could get a lower price for me. I am used to paying about $200 for each lens, even with insurance, and she found a way for me to pay $86 (after insurance) for both lenses! My eyesight is very bad and I require lightweight, specially ground lenses so as not to have the fish bowl effect in my peripheral vision. I was very happy with that part of my visit. I do think that the staff (at least the two I came I to contact with) in the optometrist's office could use a refresher in customer service. read more

I went here and the lady I was working with kept charging me for things without even asking me. She charged me for a scratch warranty without asking after leaving I learned that they get commission. I would never go here again she just cared about her commission and not me has a customer and she never really showed interest to me as a customer she was just talking to the other worker and not really helping after I picked up the glasses she rang me up and charged me for everything my bill was over 300 dollars. read more

Wow the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. an older lady (70+) had gotten a ride from over 40 miles away to pick up her glasses. She felt like they weren't right and wanted help. She was told the glasses are fine and she needed to adjust to them. end of story for her because they totally ignored her just sitting and waiting for help. Which gave me time to chat with her. She was told come back another day. She came in from Mt. Home and can't plan for another trip in. The response was" why did you come here in the first place?" After hearing that I decided to get my glasses (the ones I came in with) and leave and they wouldn't give them back so I charged into their back stage area and demanded they return my glasses so I can leave. After heated words were exchanged with the rude, aggressive and unprofessional manager I was given my glasses and left. She shouted after me that I am banned from their store..... as if I would ever consider going back. Skip this place. There are many great alternative places to get your specs. read more

Originally I had no problems with getting my exam, prescription, and frames. Had a longer than normal wait but I figured since it was December I would just deal with it. I recently placed a refill order for contacts online to save myself money. 2 days later I received a phone call from Eyemart saying I was to only use their office to fill my prescription. I blew it off and didn't think more of it. Last week I placed another refill order for lenses and Eyemart declined to give my prescription to the retailer I chose. When I called their office the receptionist denied anything ever happening. She told me my prescription wasn't valid because it had been over a year, which it has only been 8 months, and that I needed to come in before they could do anything further. At this point, they have lost my business and I have been telling everyone to go elsewhere for their eye care needs. read more

Don't be fooled. I broke my glasses and needed a pair just until my insurance kicked. Two pair of glasses, progressive lens for $78 lured me in. However, there are so many add on expenses. Supposedly warrantied for 12 months not really, you pay extra for that. Etc. etc. 2 pair of cheap frames, plastic lens with no anti glare (was told the extra special warranty covered it, so I paid $50 for the Protection Plus), I have two cheaply made, worthless pairs of glasses that cost me over $200. Without anti glare wearing them are miserable. The progression is wacky. I should have stuck with my dollar store readers. Seriously, don't go. read more
