I've been going to optometrists for my entire life and my experience at Eyeopia was entirely different from anything I've experienced before. Instead of 'here is your prescription', Dr. Peter Andreakos took the time to explain what different prescription levels meant to me and my lifestyle. Apparently prescriptions are not 'black vs. white' but shades of gray instead. I work at a computer all day, which we tailored my lenses for. It was a very informative and refreshing experience. The process they have in place for helping with frame and lens selection was superb. Serious thought went into how I will be wearing the glasses, my audience and of course my facial features. Just went for an appointment and the kid of one or both of the owners was running back and forth thru the business. It was very distracting and very unprofessional. I was told by the mother of the kid that the kid would be 4 feet away from me. What?!! Can't imagine that one could get a quality eye exam with a kid running around. The reception person also spoke verrry fast and was giving a lot of instructions. Couldn't follow what she was saying with the kid running back and forth behind me! Very disappointing! Leave your bff, mom, or significant other at home; unless they work at Eyeopia, they won't know about picking out frames. TIL how your frames fit your face can greatly impact the effectiveness of your prescription. Dr Andreakos (Peter!), who is personable, hilarious, and decorated the Monroe location himself, understands this deeply and takes a holistic approach to eye care and vision correction. No more will I have to deal with jaded optometrists with no taste, knowledge, or opinion about what frames I end up with. Stella, Manager extraordinaire, is extremely knowledgeable and patient as well and she helped make the frame-picking process enjoyable. They make a good team and are both involved in the process from check up to pick up. Let's be upfront, the frame options they have are pricey. But if you value design, have a strong sense of style, hate making decisions, have a hard time finding frames that fit, are certain most frames weren't made for a nose bridge like yours, have a serious prescription and feel this limits your options, are an adult now and ready to wear frames that fit your face, you will cherish what Eyeopia has to offer. It's been a long time coming for me. Made it 45 years before ever getting my eyes checked but finally had to break down and admit that my eyesight was lacking. The staff here are incredibly nice and helpful. Going through a battery of tests I learned that I have been far sighted my whole life (who knew) and appreciated the consultation. I enjoyed their process for selecting frames. At first, they offered up a variety of styles and slowly whittled their way down to a few selections. At that point, they offered up a mirror for me to check out. I liked this approach as the choices can be overwhelming and as someone who has never put on a pair of glasses, a little unnerving. Came here to get my eyes checked after recently getting vision insurance. My appointment was about an hour long, starting with some basic vision tests (ie colorblind test) and some photos of my eyes (super cool!). The staff is very friendly and eager to explain everything to you. They genuinely seem to care about the patients. I then was taken into the exam room to see Dr. Andreakos. Dr. Andreakos is awesome! He is very experienced and explains everything he does very well. I hate going to the doctor and being told I have an issue with no explanation whatsoever, so I really enjoyed my appointment. Dr. Andreakos basically gave me a "vision for dummies" lesson, which I very much appreciated. I was given a prescription and opted to get glasses there. They have a huge collection of frames. The staff spent a whole hour with me helping me choose my frames (I've never had glasses before, so I really had no idea what would look good or how to choose frames.) After purchasing a pair (they were pretty expensive, I know now to shop at Costco or somewhere else for frames next time), they told me I would be called in about 1-2 weeks to come try on and pick up my glasses. I got them a week later! Overall great service and a really amazing doctor. I will definitely be back! read more

Yesterday we went in for eye exams and frame shopping joyousness. It was our first trip to the Monroe St. store, and despite the pupil dilation drops, it was even more lovely than the Atwood store, mostly because of the lovely and talented Jessica, who scanned our peripherals and picked out frames like a pro, because she is one. Both Stella and Dr. Peter are the ever-present canny and fabulous people they are. Anyone they hire has a high bar to meet. Between my husband and myself, they must have pulled 70 frame choices from the drawers, and they thoughtfully helped us narrow them down to frames we can't wait to wear. Dr. Peter is a chatty one, and makes you feel at home and relaxed, even when there's a ridiculously bright light shining upon your rods and cones. He makes eye exams feel almost like a spa day. .... We picked up our new glasses a few days ago. My husband's were perfect but my lenses needed to be remade. If Dr. Peter hadn't examined them before we left, the fix would've been delayed. We both love our new glasses, and are grateful for the thoughtful, attentive care they give all their customers. read more

These people charged me $500 for a pair of glasses that do NOT match my perscription and refused to resolve the issue. All they had to say was "well it's the right perscription, you can go to Stanton Optical." Absolutely unbelievable. Do not give this family your money. read more

Best experience I've ever had going to any kind of provider OR store in my 26 years of life. Everyone is so welcoming and sweet, and the entire experience is tailored to you. Dr. Peter, Stella, and Sarah were so thorough and really take the time to get to know you and make you feel at home. I have never had an experience of picking out glasses like I have at Eyeopia--most stores don't care so much about if you are happy and feel confident in your glasses. The whole team took the time (probably at least an hour) to try on dozens and dozens of glasses with me. They listened to what I wanted, but honestly factored in my face shape, eyebrows, eyes, and skin tone with the glasses to find what is most attractive. They really want you to love how you look in glasses (which I never have). Although I didn't find a pair I absolutely loved, I will go back once they get a new shipment in and can't wait to work with them again. I am a young professional and am trying to save money, and they even recommended contacts to me based on how good of a deal I would get. They truly want the best for all of their patients/customers and are so genuine and warm. Dr. Peter is also more conservative than other optometrists I have worked with in terms of adjusting prescriptions (mine have been doubled almost every year, which I think is really aggressive), so I appreciate that he is trying to be more gentle on my eyes; awesome approach. If you plan to purchase new glasses here, you should prepare to spend a premium price ($700+) with poor customer service, and long turnaround times. You'll wait more than 8 weeks for new glasses that they say will take 2 weeks. You will check in weekly on your order, and get no useful information about your purchase. You will feel like your inquiries are bothersome to them. read more

TRUST. I know, it is weird that you don't get to pick the frames off of the wall yourself, and that you don't get to see yourself in a mirror right away. However, they will give you a MULTITUDE of options that actually fit your nose bridge and face shape, and you WILL look at the ones that fit well in a mirror, and you WILL ultimately make the decision about which ones you like best. They are only filtering out things that don't sit on the bridge of your nose correctly, and things like that. Trust and enjoy the process! :) read more

We purchased a pair of frames from Eyeopia in Feb of 2018, they continue to break time and time again. Each time I attempt to get replacement pieces, it takes weeks to months. Stella does not return phone calls or emails, nor do they call when the pieces are available for pick up. I have done all of the footwork for our care at Eyeopia. When we received the pair of frames replaced under warranty, Stella refused to check the fit. When asked to she replied with, "they look fine." We went elsewhere to get them adjusted. We have transferred our care to another retailer. The customer service here is terrible, steer clear. read more

I am one that loves to support local businesses. However, it saddens me that I can no longer support this one. After an unfortunate accident, the plastic wiring that held my lenses to my frames broke. I had purchased these from Eyeopia - also where I get my eye exams - and called to see if I would be able to schedule an emergency appointment because Christmas was a couple of days away. I was excited when they scheduled me for an appointment the next day at 11:30 AM. I arrived early, as respectful people may do for a business here in town, provided them my broken glasses and explained to them that I cannot see very well without them and would not be able to drive or leave the area until they were fixed. They said this is something they can do at this location and it would be a little tricky. I let them know I would go grab lunch down the street and would be back. They told me it would be around noon. I arrived back at 1:00 PM and they had not started working on them yet. There were other customers in the store that they were busy helping. I explained to them again that I cannot leave without them as I cannot drive blind. They assured me they would get to them within the hour. I again walked around the neighborhood blindly to find things to waste my time on. I arrived back at Eyeopia at 3 PM. At this point in time they had fixed one side of my glasses but the other side was proving to be more difficult. I waited in their shop until 5 PM as they continued to help other customers with choosing new glasses and frames - not at all working on my need from my 11:30 AM appointment. Then, I was asked if I could come back tomorrow. I again explained that I cannot drive - especially now that it was dark outside. I told them I was trapped here until I could see again. I was told it may take until 7:30 PM. I called my work to cancel all of my appointments for the rest of the day. I came back at 7:30 PM and they had not touched my glasses yet. I fumed as I sat there. I watched walk-ins come and be assisted in front of me. "What on earth is going on - am I dreaming?" I thought to myself. I again explained the situation to the same people and they laughed it off and said that it was tricky and they weren't sure on how long it was going to take and that they were sorry that it was really busy. I called my work to let them know I was not going to make our evening holiday party. At one point I was told they were still working on them. However, they were obviously sitting shoved to the cover on the receptionist's desk. I have been waiting here for over 9 hours now. Maybe if they would have worked on my needs during my appointment time and did not ignore me for every new customer that walked on the door for full service I would have been able to leave this place before they were closed for the night. Now I am forced to sit here behind locked doors as the employee works on my glasses and we both are in awkward silence. Why on earth was there an appointment for 11:30 AM? A drop off in the morning when they opened and pickup at night when they closed would have made more sense. However, again, I said that I could not leave because of my blindness. Unbelievable. Follow-up: After I wrote this it turns out the 'tricky' part that was causing this to take longer than normal (although they weren't actually working on them...) only took 10 minutes (LITERALLY - IT WAS REALLY QUICK) once she started focusing on the task that was originally planned 9+ hours prior. Can you imagine if I did say that I would come back tomorrow to pick them up? They probably would have never gotten to them and I would have had to enjoy the Christmas Day travels blind and confused. I wish I would have been respected more as a customer that scheduled an appointment, showed up on time, and waited patiently. read more

Just moved to the area and was looking for an eye doc. I've been wearing glasses for 25 years and this is the first time I truly felt that I was able to get a pair glasses that fit. The glasses are a little bit more expensive than your discount stores, but the consultation and expertise they offer is worth well more than the extra price you will pay. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and patient. The process is a little different than what you may be accustomed to, but if you trust them you will be very happy. The exam was excellent and Dr. Peter (as he calls himself) was very informative. I found out my prescription has been too strong for many years and he spent time to give me the pros and cons of this. I have been wearing corrective eye wear for about 15 years now and have seen around 7 different eye doctors. I have a horrible astigmatism that has always made it difficult to find glasses or contacts that give me great vision. Dr. Peter is the first eye doctor to explain to me why exactly my vision is difficult to correct, go over all of the options available to me, and then trial different types of contacts to find what I like best.
