I rarely write reviews but here goes: I was nervous about going to Eyes on Broadway because I have a tricky prescription and picky (urbane) taste in eyewear. However I needn't have worried because Eyes on Broadway took their time, gave me excellent service and offered a wide choice of unique frames. First I got a comprehensive eye exam from Dr. Steve Agin who concluded that my prior prescription was grossly erroneous - this from an ultra high end optical store in NYC. No wonder I was seeing double and had headaches late in the day! I got beautiful new eyeglasses with - most importantly - the correct prescription. True the place is not dirt cheap but compared to other high end opticians they are very reasonable. They really seem to care about eye health and doing the right thing, rare in this day and age. Great service! I wanted to change the lenses out on my Maui Jim sunglasses. I brought them in here they sent them out to Maui Jim. N now I have new prescription lenses it my old favorite baby beach aviators. Still awesome polarized Jim lenses n crisp as ever. They sent my frames to mj n they were back in a week when they told me it could be two weeks. Now isn't that a nice surprise. In better condition then I brought them in. Plus a new case and soft shamy case all Maui Jim. I am eyeing the new blue n silver baby blues. So when I do buy them I will be going back to eyes on Broadway. They have many unique brands of sunglasses which if I was not stuck on my baby beach's, I would totally consider a few pairs I saw on the shelf. read more

Contrary to the other reviewers' experiences, I find Dr. Agin to be both a consummate professional and a helpful business owner who truly cares about his long-time clients. I'll admit that his sense of humour isn't for the faint-of-heart, but if you have a bit of wit around you, you'll get along just fine with him. His eye exams are thorough. He will support, adjust, and help you with any pair of glasses you've bought there, and while you're often paying quite a bit for them, the quality in a high-end frame and at a high-end boutique will pay for itself in the long run. I've been a customer here for at least half a dozen years, and I don't intend to go anywhere else. read more

Eyes on Broadway is located in Hewlett, NY. It's a family run business, with top of the line merchandise. I needed new glasses with progressive lenses. Dr. Agin gave me a thorough eye exam and explained everything about progressive lenses to me. He and Carrie tried more than a dozen frames until we found one that was perfect for me. They have a huge variety of frames for adults & kids. When I picked up my glasses I was very happy. I can now see perfectly at any distance. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I have been using Eyes on Broadway for years. Yes they do carry high end frames, and if that is what you want, there is no place better. The store and the service are top notch. I don't mind spending more if I get what I pay for. If you want inexpensive frames, then this is probably not the place for you - unless you catch line of their sales The quality of the lenses they use are also top notch. At one point my husband wanted a second pair of glasses so he went to one of the chain stores - they looked at his lenses and said - These are high quality, but you will get used to ours in time. We walked out and have never gone anywhere else since. Dr Agin is thorough and pays meticulous attention to detail. His staff is great when it comes to finding the right frame for your face and budget. Need an adjustment? No problem, they are always there to help. read more

This optical store has far and away the best frames of anyplace I have ever been on Long Island! If you want something really nice and unique, go there. I would definitely suggest to find out when the sales run! The women there could not be nicer and the owner/doctor is A nice guy, too. I don't find them pushy, in any way. read more

I would have to agree with ellen's review.....the owner is rude and very opinionated......the frame lines they Cary are high end and very expensive......frames range in the $300 dollar and up......by the time you walk out between coatings and lens you easily spend $600 plus.....I only purchase quality frames and have found fashion forward quality frames at Cedarhurst Fashion Optical right in the five towns.....I no longer purchase glasses from Eyes on Broadway..... read more

I have only had the best experience at Eyes on Broadway! I have been taking my kids there for over a year. Dr. Agin gives the most thorough exam, better than my opthalmologist! He really takes his time and fine tunes the Rx! Lee is amazing, so patient and helpful. Picking out frames for kids is not easy by any means, but she makes it doable. On two occasions we were pressed for time and they had my son's glasses ready the same day! read more

Should of did this sooner, anyway..Everything I said is true..Point. Blank. Period. The truth hurts.

I saw a few frames that looked interesting to me, but I was turned off by the critiques about my current frames (which multiple people have randomly complimented me on). I don't think it's necessary to put down glasses from other places in order to assist a potential customer in buying frames. But I'll chalk it up to different personalities. The woman assisting in the store was overzealous and missed the mark with her critiques, so it was amusing when the owner told her that the frames she selected for me were all wrong. I guess I'll just look elsewhere. To each, his or her own. read more

I'm not quite sure who, exactly, some of these reviewers have met at Eyes on Broadway, but I happen to be extremely satisfied with the entire staff and overall experience there. When I had walked in, the atmosphere felt really friendly. The girls behind the desk were friendly and greeted me with a smile. I had came in to simply buy some glasses, but forgot to bring my perscription, and they happily had it faxed from my Dr's office. That was easy. When it came to the frame part of the equation, they gave me total control. They asked what was I looking for, what colors I liked, what size I was looking for, etc. The selection of frames is enormous and you're guaranteed to find something you love! As far as the prices go -- yeah, some of their frames are really expensive, but I found a pair that was exactly what I wanted for $195. Dr. Agin sat with me and we talked about my lenses. He was very friendly and spoke to me like his friend, not a dollar sign. He was extremely informative and answered every question I had. He never added anything he felt I didnt need. For my Rx, he recommended coatings simply to help me have a better experience seeing and explained why he thought it necessary. I was never forced to spend more than I had to. Since then I've come in for screws, nosepads, and adjustments and they were always happy to help and at NO COST. I've broken parts and they've always gone above and beyond to help me. I've even gotten fit for contacts with Dr. Agin and his experience is incomparable!! He's patient and always willing to help! I've never seen any other side of him, even with patients other than myself. A+! read more

I was nervous about getting contact lenses and Dr Agin took all the time needed to fit me properly, teach me how to insert and remove them and make sure I was comfortable with them. He had me try a pair, sent me out for a few errands and then told me to come back the next day to try on some other samples he was ordering. This went on until he and I were totally satisfied with the lenses. I am sure I can order the lenses for $5 cheaper elsewhere, but I go back to Eyes on Broadway because of the superior service. I also purchased a fairly pricey pair of suglasses and was very upset when a year later I broke a temple. I mentioned it to his daughter who told me to bring in the glasses. They replaced the temple free of charge. When two weeks later the other one broke, they replaced that one too. I have nothing but good things to say about Eyes on Broadway. Lovely place and location, customer service was exceptional, everyone is really friendly there.

After one year and six months, three eye doctors, close to 8 tries with various labs, I can finally see! While on a visit to Vermont, I visitied my old optical store there and shared my story. He recommended I go see Dr. Agin as he had success with another client that had similar issues. I drove through Hewlett, on my way home to Virginia and had my exam with Dr. Agin. The staff was very flexible with my appointment as I hit unexpected traffic on the way. Dr. Again gave me my exam, sent me on my way and now I have just received the first lenses that I could use in 18 months! I had worn progressives for over 10 years and no one could get my prescription to where I could use it without dizziness or clear vision. Thank you Dr. Agin, you are the best! Your staff is so kind and generous with their flexibilty in scheduling. I hope I will always be in driving distance of your services! Thank you, thank you, thank you! read more
