These are good people. They don't try and sell you options you don't need like UV coating on polycarbonate lenses.

Overall, I had a good experience. The staff was extremely welcoming, it's well maintained and very…read moreclean. There was little to no wait time. I will say, before you go, check with your insurance prior to going. I assumed I was going for a routine eye exam which meant I wouldn't have a copay. However, I found out after speaking with insurance and calling the office that "all eye exams are considered diagnostic due to it relating to the health of your eye, not just your vision". I don't mind paying the copay for the extra service. That aside, I saw Kristy Dean and she was very friendly, explained everything well and made sure to answer any questions I had. They do ask if you'd like to try the new lenses they offer. However, I didn't receive any backlash for opting out nor did Kristy try to continue pushing them after I opted out. It's important to add that I do buy my glasses online (it's far more cost efficient), so I can't speak to that end of things.

TLDR: My wife and I had new patient eye exams at Sirgany and everything seemed to be fine until we…read moreboth decided we did not need to buy new $800+ glasses with fancy prism lenses from them. Due to incompetence, shirking of responsibility, and shady nickel and diming, we will not be returning. I should have taken it as a hint that appointments were so much easier to get here vs. Cortland Eye Center. I can't speak to how good that place is, but it can't be any worse than Sirgany. First, during my wife's exam, Dr. Sirgany said my wife's eyes had gotten slightly worse, yet the prescription we received showed a dramatic improvement in one eye. Hmm... After multiple attempts to brush away our concerns without listening to details and just saying "improvements happen sometimes," the staff FINALLY talked to the doctor, who admitted his mistake. I would have had no problem with this, as it was simply a 0 where a 1 should have been. Not an enormous deal. It was the multiple phone and in-person conversations with staff who were unwilling to even fathom a mistake had happened that were the bigger problem. Had I not been persistent, my wife would have ended up paying for glasses with the wrong prescription. We're not done yet, though! A couple weeks later we both received bills from their office for co-pays. That's weird... My insurance specifically says that a routine eye exam is fully covered. Well, because we both simply mentioned symptoms that either a) do not affect our vision or b) are incredibly common with no clear links to our vision, they submitted diagnostic codes for these "health issues" to my insurance company. This changed our appointments from a routine exam to a clinical/specialist visit, incurring a co-pay charge. There was no discussion from the doctor that this was happening either. The insurance company said all Sirgany had to do was submit a corrected claim with routine codes (like they should've done in the first place). They refused. I've always been open with my doctors during checkups, discussing potential problem areas, and I have never been charged a co-pay for routine visits. I guess we should've kept our mouths shut with the Sirgany office.

No stars. I do not recommend this location in Cortland to anyone. Last year I got Rayban frames and…read morewonderful lenses. The frames broke many many times cut my face but the last straw??? When I brought them in and an employee tightened them and the very next day they broke completely for the 3RD TIME and for good. Came back to get contacts, they gave me a pair to wear for a week. When I came in to order my contacts, a women said they gave me the wrong contacts last time and gave me a different set to wear for yet another week and those were awful. I came back only for them to tell me that they had to order another pair. Meanwhile my car broke down and I'm at the mercy to get a ride. I called them after I missed an app set another and the lady told me to come get the lenses that they ordered so I could see if they were good or not. She said I would have to make an appointment a week later to see the Dr the final time to order my lenses. I finally got a ride and went up there , it's been 6 weeks now, to get the contacts they ordered and to PAY FOR THE NEW LENSES 6 MONTHS WORTH WITH MY VSP INSURANCE. I went to get my lenses as the lady instructed He said very rudely " well if you didn't miss your apps and no you can't have the new lenses before you see a doctor". So I'm supposed to what ?, just hope they didn't mess up these new lenses too? I'm to put them in on my Dr app day. Not wearing them for a week just wam bam how are they. Do you see good do they fit right? Um no ma'am I just put these in today!!!!! and they gave me 2 other pairs in the past 6 weeks. Seriously I have premium insurance and I feel Michael and the staff have blown smoke up my toodakoo. Milked my insurance and I am without contacts, crappy glasses and I'm sure my vsp has been charged out the ass for their mistakes. Bad business. Very very bad attitudes without accountability. Snippy shifty attitudes and they were at fault. My only fault is not having reliable transportation and returning after already getting screwed with shitty raybans and incompetent employees. Don't trust them. Take your premium vsp to a reputable establishment. Not blind, stuck out, overcharged and overextended by unaccountable frauds

Just called EV to see when my glasses would be in, as it's been THREE WEEKS. She said, "oh, they're…read morehere". I asked for how long have they been there and she said two weeks!! "We sent a text"--NO THEY DIDN'T and she also said per Empire rules, they do NOT CALL customers to let them know their glasses are ready. What is this world coming to. There is NO customer service whatsoever. NEVER AGAIN, regardless of insurance. '
