Updated review. This place is fishy…read more I paid for a smog check here last year (2024) as requested by the DMV and subsequently wrote the previous review. I was repeatedly informed by "Fremont quick smog" that the completed smog check passed and will be automatically transmitted to the DMV. This year, 2025, DMV is requesting yet another smog check. I called DMV seven times today and spoke to 4 individuals (with 3 calls dropped). The 3rd individual said "uhh no you did your smog in 2023 and your vehicle requires a smog check every 3 years." I drive a 2016 SUV. Go elsewhere for a smog check. Massive headache, tremendous amount of time wasted, and money wasted. Totally not worth the potential trouble.

IMHO We made an…read moreappointment. Do yourself a favor and do the same. I honestly don't know if making an appointment made that much of a difference timewise, but I'd rather have one than not. The parking lot is small. You'll most likely have to park on the street. When you first enter the building, you see a huge sign hanging from the ceiling that says, "ALL CUSTOMERS MUST HAVE A NUMBER TO BE SERVED". This is very confusing because they never tell you where and how to get that stupid number!!! We had an appointment but didn't know if we needed a number before or after we got in the "appointment line"! There is no designated employee situated at the front door to guide you. Hello Management, it would be so simple to have an employee inside the front door to guide your customers so that they aren't all standing around guessing where to go! Everyone who entered had that "deer in the headlights" look on their faces. Thankfully those customers waiting nearby were able to steer people to the right line. Eventually 30 minutes after we'd been issued a number, a security guard came by to usher those of us standing, outside to wait for our number to be called... as the waiting crowd around the door was a fire hazard. Thankfully, they broadcast the numbers via an outside speaker. Okay, if you come to this Fremont DMV, here is what to do. First, either enter the "non-appointment" line on the right against the wall, or the "appointment only" line on the left against the windows. If you've got an appointment, eventually an employee will ask for the time of your appointment and then issue you a number. If you're too early, you'll have to continue to wait in line. After you get your number, you wait again... We got our number at 10:33 for our 10:40 appointment. We weren't called to a window until 11:10. After the driver's license renewal, payment, and new picture taking, we were finally out of the DMV, at 11:22. I suppose it could've been worse. At least the employees were nice. Don't be afraid to ask questions when you enter. Otherwise, you might be wasting time in the wrong line!
