Super professional and efficient! I haven't needed to smog my car in over a decade, and the shop made everything so easy. The waiting area is clean and stocked with magazines and water, and the owner is very helpful and friendly. DMV services are also offered here so that you can do renewals and registrations after your smog. Best smog experience ever! I had my smog done last week. Everything went quite well. He did a smog and title transfer on my car year before last, and despite my worry that there would be problems, there were none. I've recommended this shop on NextDoor too. And he has old Street Rodder magazines. Pretty cool! read more

Gagan Smog and Check test station is the best shop in the area. I came to this shop for only smog because I had recently bought a used car and when he told me that he could also provide me with DMV services, I couldn't believe it, I was shocked because I had never seen a smog station that can also provide you with DMV SERVICES. And since I needed tags right away, GAGAN took care of business which was great. And on top of that, he is always with a great attitude. I can confidently recommend this place for a smog check. I have been a returning customer because of the owner's professionalism. He is also ethical and the cost is reasonable. Although there's a comfortable waiting area, the owner does his best to get you in and out in a timely manner. Great experience at Gagan Smog Station. My car had battery replaced recently and wasn't showing all the readings needed for the smog. The owner was nice enough to check the car's readiness for smog test multiple times and advise on how to address it. Once car was ready the actual smog test was simple, quick, and hassle-free. Updated review. This place is fishy…read more I paid for a smog check here last year (2024) as requested by the DMV and subsequently wrote the previous review. I was repeatedly informed by "Fremont quick smog" that the completed smog check passed and will be automatically transmitted to the DMV. This year, 2025, DMV is requesting yet another smog check. I called DMV seven times today and spoke to 4 individuals (with 3 calls dropped). The 3rd individual said "uhh no you did your smog in 2023 and your vehicle requires a smog check every 3 years." I drive a 2016 SUV. Go elsewhere for a smog check. Massive headache, tremendous amount of time wasted, and money wasted. Totally not worth the potential trouble.

For me, the real pain in the butt is looking for parking space but when I got in, I had no problem figuring out what line to get in or what to do, I guess it's because the front desk lady (black lady) and the security lady were pretty efficient, instructing people if they got confused! After you check in, DMV will text you your appointment number and just check the monitor screens to see when your appointment # will be served at which window, simple as that! The room was packed and most of the chairs were taken. I was able to have a seat in front and observe those DMV employees serving customers. They seemed efficient and pleasant and customers seem cooperative and efficient as well! I didn't see or hear any arguments or loud voices. I was waiting for about 20 minutes before seeing my appointment # pop up on the screen. The total time I walked in until I walked out was about 35-40 minutes which is not that bad at all! If you have all paperwork ready in hand, it should going smoothly, only negative things are parking and lots of people (it's DMV, so of course what do we expect, right?)

I had a terrible time with the gentleman who owned the shop in front of theirs, who lied and told me I was in the right place, which wasn't corrected until I called Fremont Auto Center looking for an update. Jack personally went next door to check on my car, and offered me 10% off repairs. I was told I could drop my car off the next day without needing another appointment. I met Sal, who has such a wonderful and charming personality, and it was great to meet Jack in person, too. Within an hour, I had the full analysis and estimate, and around 2:30, a couple of hours before closed, I was called and told the car wouldn't be finished, and asked if I'd like to come pick it up for the weekend (which I declined, we didn't need it!). The prices were fair, and their system of telling you what absolutely needs work versus what they recommend to be worked on was so great in helping me understand what was wrong with the car. My experience with them made me tell my husband that I'd drive to them if we ever moved out of the area. I can't recommend this place enough (just make sure you drive all the way to the green building and dont let anyone stop you like I did!)

Great place to go get a smog check. The person at the front desk (Gagandeep) is polite and kind, you can sense he wants great service for you. The value is great. For $60 and it's right near my house, it's a great deal. I'm sure other places have this price however what makes this place different is their transparency and quality of service. It's fast and easy too. It was first time ever getting a SMOG check so I felt a little nervous how it all was taken care of. Though he taken care of every single thing that needed to be checked. Recently, I went for Smog Check Inspection at the Gagan Smog Station. I found Mr. Gagan pleasant, courteous, very well-informed and patient. He answered all my questions. The price of the inspection was very reasonable. There was also a nice, clean and comfortable waiting area. To my surprise, Mr. Gagan would not accept any tip from me. He was so honest.
