It was completely unassuming, but I saw that everyone there was so committed and I wanted that. I began working out with Frank May 5 days per week. Oh man, I hated his guts! But, he pushed me every day and I saw such personal growth, more than I ever thought possible. Remember, this is not a big corporate chain gym. If that is what you are looking for, keep moving. But, if you are looking for one-on-one training with someone who knows what he is talking about, Frank is your guy. I regret moving away from Dallas simply because I cannot workout with Frank.

After class, Rachel gave us a tour of the facility and was incredibly welcoming and friendly, just like the rest of the staff. The gym itself is beautiful, modern, and exceptionally clean. I especially loved the white and tan interior design--it creates a bright, upscale atmosphere. The women's locker room is impressive, featuring lockers for personal belongings, a sauna, and a cold plunge. There are also convenient water refill stations throughout the gym. One of the most unique features is the slide, which definitely adds some personality and fun to the space! There's also an outdoor workout area in the corner for anyone who prefers exercising outside. Separate pools for lap swimming and water-walking or water aerobics instruction. Hallelujah. 2. Pool lanes are quite large, so sharing wouldn't be difficult at all. That said, at the day/time I was there, I didn't have to share. 3. Towel service (hint: the large towels are inside the entrances to the locker rooms). 4. Garage parking underground is a super nice perk for a rainy day. 5. Friendly staff (but that seems to be all YMCAs). Cons: 1. Shower situation was shockingly poorly planned, given that this entire building is relatively new construction. I guess showers don't need benches where you can put your stuff? In the women's locker room, people had pulled chairs over into the shower area to "solve" this problem, but it wasn't great. 2. For anyone who's uncomfortable in a public locker room for any particular reason (I can think of several), there are very few (only two) private shower/locker rooms available relative to my home YMCA, and they're labeled with rather unfriendly signs saying that you shouldn't use them unless you're a family or a disabled person.

Immaculate. One of the coolest parts was the owner, Jackie. She hung around after class and actually took the time to talk with us, sharing the backstory of how the gym started, what the mission is, and how they built the community. They hit us with nine minutes of abs at the end, and I'm not gonna lie... the second they announced it, I considered walking out the door.
