Sweat offers a flexible schedule to keep things interesting...whether it is starting your day off right with Glen and his awesome attitude early in the morning, or a mid-day break quick class with Joe and his genuine encouraging words. You can't go wrong with either trainer because they both provide stellar music and will ensure that some days you leave a little winded from cardio and some says a little weak from strength training. Sweat is a local gym, so local that it's not even a chain. his place is small, but it has pretty much everything. This is the first gym I've seen that has aerial silks. If they don't have it, they will get it for you. Like the guy showed me they have drop pads for when you want to drop the weight (the floors are polished concrete). I commented to myself about bumper plates, and he said, "Oh those, those are pretty cheap. We could get some if you'd like." Like I said, super nice and super generous. Given this gym's proximity to the park cities, I get the impression a lot of Parkies and Devonshire folk come here to workout. Lots of women during the early afternoon. Met some bartenders that come here to workout. None of the guys I saw were the musclebound kind like at LA fitness or at Gold's Gym. Though I did see some cutoffs I never saw a tank. A lot of the women here wear booty shorts, but no one's outfit was that flashy, if that makes any sense. So I got the impression this crowd is like a very small, subdued Equinox. I saw one guy rip off the pistol squat progressions that I was working on, thought that was pretty funny. There were also quite a few high schoolers lifting here. I've been told it never gets really busy, and I'm inclined to believe that. I think the gym is just about the right size. Layout/facilities It's small but has a converted space/loft feel, which I really dig. The floors on the first floor are polished red concrete, and they have a wood lattice design on the walls. They have lots of weight machines, but they only have one squat rack and one bench rack (boo). More than once I've had to wait on someone else who is using the squat rack (though never for squats :/ ) This gym is on a corner so in addition to the two stories of open air you get light coming in from the front and side. The dumbbells only go up to 100# here, but obviously that's not a huge issue for most people. I imagine if you requested it they would get more for you. The first floor has cardio equipment and weights, the second floor has a Pilates studio, group class room, and a cardio deck overlooking the gym. The cardio machines all have headphone jacks to plug into so you can listen to what's on the TV's in front of the machines. If you forget your headphones they'll provide you with a pair, which I think is nice. Group Classes Because it's a small gym they don't have a lot of group classes, but they have a program where you can play a video on a drop-down screen in their group class room and do a yoga workout to the video. So you can do a group exercise without being in a group. I actually kind of like this. Even though it's like doing a workout dvd at home I think the separation of space is great and you can do what you want whenever you want to. They also have Pilates reformer and Cadillac and all the Pilates toys available. Locker Room Like the rest of the gym, this is on the small side but has everything you need. Everything is clean and I like how the lockers have their own key. They also have cubby holes in the front desk if you come dressed to workout. The bath is stocked with all kinds of things that you would need. Sadly I saw no shaving equipment, but again I'm sure if I asked for it they would get it for me. They had pretty much everything else, deodorant, lotion, hairgel, mouthwash. Pretty much everything you need. They also had a radio playing Christian Rock. I have a feeling a member changed it from 93.3 so I just changed it back. read more

I know today was snowy but I went up there and door was locked but there were a half dozen teenagers working out and no employees present. I was meeting a friend for dinner on Lovers lane and we wanted to workout before eating. We got a guest past at Sweat so we could take the Jillian Michaels class. The class was intense, high energy, and a quick workout. The instructor was friendly and encouraging. The class lasted just long enough. They gym overall is intimate, clean, the staff is nice, the bathrooms is nice and has some well thought out items for us girls :). It appears management has thought about the ambience it wants to create and implements it very well. Joe, the manager called me for a follow-up, there was no pressure to join, no hassling, just wanted to know about my experience. Good customer service goes a long way. read more

I just moved into the area and came in to check it out. The general manager personally showed me around and answered all of my questions. The gym is very clean, with a fun atmosphere. The floors are concrete and has a very industrial feel. The locker rooms have almost everything I need in case I forget any of my own personal toiletries. The staff is very polite and greeted me with a smile each time I come in. They even change the channel on the TV when I request. And have headphones when I forget mine, which is always. I had an assessment with a trainer and he was very knowledgable and very patient with me as I am a newbie with weight training and machines. I typically stick to treadmills and ellipticals. Overall the gym is very clean, and the staff is friendly. I would recommend this gym to newbie gym goers and veterans alike. read more

I have worked out with a personal trainer at SWEAT for almost two years. While I certainly agree with "ADAM'S" review in March of it being a "local" gym, and it does not fit the L.A. Fitness, 24 hour Fitness profile, that is exactly why I like SWEAT. It does get regulars, and mostly from the surrounding area, which, although is not my neighborhood, I have found to be very friendly. The equipment fits my needs perfectly, the locker room is basic, but again, fits I should think most men's' needs who are not looking for shaving gear/sauna/steam rooms, and it immaculate at all times. For me, it's the staff that seals the deal. From management to custodial care, they are all friendly, call you by name and genuinely want to make certain you have a great workout each and every time. I read with interest the review by "Nicole" from March, and since my trainer is not a WASP, nor are several of the trainers, and some have different sexual orientation as well, I thought that review was disjointed, erroneous and quite bias for some odd reason. There are as many minority staff or more than WASP staff. As far as members, well, I would say that the location dictates the member equation and there is not much anyone can do about that at any store/restaurant/pharmacy/etc. at Inwood Village. I fear there must have been some underlying situation with that review. Otherwise I can only say other reviews are spot on, and after driving about 15 miles 3 X a week, I am one satisfied client. I have a YOUFIT/24 Hour Fitness/LIFETIME within a one mile radius of my house and still prefer SWEAT. read more

I have been a member of Sweat, along with the rest of my family, since it opened several years ago, and it has definitely been the best gym experience I have ever had! Located in the heart of Inwood Village, Sweat is surrounded by nice shopping, restaurants, and juice bars. This small family owned gym has a great atmosphere with high ceilings, large windows letting in natural light, giant ceiling fans keeping it cool, and side garage doors that open up on beautiful days. The gym itself is always kept very clean, with a wide variety of very nice quality workout equipment. It's definitely an upbeat and lively gym, but never over crowded. read more

I have been going to SWEAT since it opened. I workout with one of the trainers and on my own. Everyone knows me by name and makes sure to say hello whenever I come in. This is the only gym I've been to (actually one of the only businesses I've been to) where everyone has a smile on their face!!! I think that's a great sign. SWEAT has a great selection of equipment. I have no problem finding something new to do when I get bored. The gym and locker rooms are always clean. I took the 30 minute Jillian Michael's shred class here from class pass and it was pretty intense. The moves were challenging and the instructor was very encouraging and motivated. I was the only person in the class so that was a little awkward. I came a little early and they offered to let me use the gym facilities until the class started. I thought that was dope since I'm not a regular there; most gyms don't allow that. The people were really friendly and I would definitely go back and visit. read more

I came here using a class pass and my experience overall was great! If you are interested in a small gym with the same equipment you would find at 24 or LA fitness, I would definitely come here! All the machines I used were working and everything seemed pretty up to date. It is a very nice facility and their bathroom is amazing with complimentary necessities. This gym was not overcrowded at all and I enjoyed that because I felt comfortable being here without feeling overwhelmed by the amount of people. The only con I would give is that I wish they had at least 2 of every machine because sometimes you got to wait for someone to get off so you can get on. Other than that, I will definitely be returning! Across the facility is a juice place called the Juice Bar which I recommend trying out after your workout (it closes at 7 pm)! read more

It has come to my attention that SWEAT complained on myself and my friend claiming we held a personal training session at their gym. This is completely untrue as I was working out with a close friend of mine. Never have I had this type of elementary treatment from a gym. I spend quite a lot of time in Highland Park and also take dance at Park Cities, however, I can't help but question that as I was the only person of color in SWEAT this had something to do with it. I do not take discrimination lightly particularly when I am falsely accused. I will never set foot in this gym again and will tell my other colleagues the same. read more

I've been a member now for more than 6 years and I've been remiss on not writing this sooner. The gym and atmosphere are top notch. Joe is absolutely the best HIIT trainer I've ever had. He is very friendly and oh so motivating! Lisa, my yoga instructor is so great at adapting her class from simple stretching to whoop your ass power yoga. Deveri, my body shred instructor is great. She is always happy to see us and absolutely shreds us with a smile in just 30 minutes. I'd highly recommend this club to friends and family. read more

Sweat is my favorite gym I've tried in Dallas and I've tried pretty much everywhere worth checking out (big box gyms, NYC concepts, the club at the Anatole, etc). Sweat gets it all right: everyone is super friendly, the equipment is great, layout makes it easy to get around, everything is super clean, never feels crowded even when it gets busy, location is great. The garage bay door that opens when the weather is nice is a plus - definitely adds to the neighborhood gym feel. First gym I've been to where the music is worth listening to during a workout (both in content and volume - it's actually good music and it's actually loud enough). Tried out Sweat yesterday through Classpass for an "open gym" session. Some gyms really don't like Classpassers but Sweat was happy to have me trying out the space. Joe was very welcoming and gave me a quick overview of the space, then checked in at the end to see how everything went. The gym itself is clean and modern - great stained concrete, lofty and lots of natural light from all of the Windows. Equipment is new and there's everything you might need. I love SWEAT gym! When I moved to Dallas, I wanted to join a gym that had a welcoming and safe environment. SWEAT is just that! The people are so kind and the layout of the gym is very easy to navigate. They have everything you could ever want all wrapped up in what feel like a friendly neighborhood gym. I just moved away from Dallas, but I have been living in the neighborhood of Sweat for the past 3 years. I love this gym. Simple layout, not overwhelming, never had issues using a machine I wanted. Most of all, a great, friendly, and accommodating staff. Joe, the owner, takes great pride in running a tidy gym that is welcoming to all sorts. I am a working mom of two kids and SWEAT has been the ideal gym for my schedule and needs. The amenities are nice and the staff makes it easy for me to get in and out without any hassle or delays. The locker rooms are nice. I love the upstairs balcony that is full of TVs and treadmills. I have never seen a machine broken or in need of maintenance. The customer service is top notch and always responsive to my inquiries. My fiancé and I moved into the neighborhood and were looking for a gym. The staff at SWEAT were very helpful and let us try out the gym for a week. Every time we go in, the staff is very friendly and helpful. They offered a free training session for both of us for signing up. The location is extremely convenient as well as their hours if operation. The equipment is up to date and everything is very clean. The fitness on demand option is very easy to use and has been open most times that I have been in the gym. You can take a cycle class/yoga/zoomba or whatever you are interested in whenever you want. I attended a yoga class with their instructor and was one of 2 people in the class for the day. It was very tailored to both of our needs and very fun! I've been to the gym at all hours of the day, it is rarely ever busy. Even between 5-7pm, it is very easy to use any equipment that you want, and I've never had to wait around. Overall, I strongly recommend this gym if you live in the area, great staff, clean equipment,and no wait times. read more

This place rocks! Joe puts on the boot camp at Klyde Warren Park on Saturday mornings and we absolutely loved going. He invited us to try his gym and attend the Friday class as non members and it's fantastic. He varies the routines and challenges each of us. If we lived closer this would definitely be our full time gym. It's clean,well lighted and laid out in a manner that makes sense.
