So out of respect, instead of just walking back in to shop, we asked the person behind the counter whether we can still come in and purchase blankets. She shook her hand at us, as if telling us no. We didn't want to push it and just left. This was extremely disappointing because we drove an hour to get there, knowing they were open till 8pm. But instead they tell us they close at 7pm. Can you update your business hours then?

She can't schedule projects. I really regret going with FKBD for the project. I especially regret it because I paid a premium for the labor, and decided to go with this company vs another younger, cheaper company (VA Creative Renovations - Chris is great - check them out) because I thought they would be on top of the project and get it done quickly and get it done well. Apparently not. There was a lack of follow through and communication. When I did ask for timing and submitted my tile choices with Susan, who was my project manager, she had to call over to Rafael, then he'd call me all grumpy for interrupting his day. Seems like there's a control issue. Then when the project was supposed to start there was an issue with the tile I originally chose, even though I had submitted my design choices weeks prior. They said there was a delay with the tile and they had to change the project start date. Meanwhile I'm trying to coordinate with my tenants. Luckily they are the nicest tenants anyone can ask for. All in all they did a great job on my bathroom - eventually. You just need to be really on top of them.

Also please be aware that they seem to have rebranded as Progress Kitchen and Bath, which interestingly does not have a Yelp listing. **** I signed with Kitchen and Bath Shop (now I believe known as Progress Kitchen and Bath) in March 2024 for a project that was to take 30-35 business days. It still is not complete (2+ years later), and I have not had contact from them in over two months. I could provide a very in-depth critique of their operations but here's the key challenges they have: very high staff turnover - I am on project manager #9 (at least) and there is zero communication among project managers. They have very weak permitting capability (I had to develop my own contacts with Alexandria, VA personally). When work was done, it was usually just 1-2 people taking 2 hr lunch breaks. Project managers were almost never on site. I had planned to move to an AirBnB for 3 months to let them work faster. Instead, I ended up there for a year at considerable extra cost to myself. The list goes on - what you need to know is to avoid this group at all costs. One last thing - they seem to change business names, so I suggest asking any kitchen and bath contractor if they are associated with Kitchen and Bath Shop or Progress Kitchen and Bath. If the answer is yes, you can just say no. Stay safe out there.

There are too many issues to list within Yelp's limits. Briefly: 1) They can't install flooring or grout the floor properly. They came out to "fix" the issue multiple times and then just ghosted me. Loose floor tiles with crumbling grout ever since they "completed" the reno. 2) They will do a poor job. They will pretend they didn't make a mistake and then they will blame you for the mistake they made. They installed a shower in our bathroom and the water only came out all hot or all cold. They tried to tell me that some shower heads were just that way. They messed up the installation of our vanity and initially said the only fix was for us to pay for a new custom counter - I had to fight them tooth and nail on both for a halfway decent response. 3) They tried to shake me down for final payment while there were still multiple unfinished issues. 4) They use garbage components/suppliers - tiling has marks and is poorly installed. Fixtures break down quickly. This is no where near the complete list. You are better off doing a bathroom reno yourself, blindfolded and drunk. Do not use this company.

A couple of places the starting price was way to high for the work we were looking to get done. We stopped in at the Annandale Metropolitan Bath and Tile store with low expectations. We were surprised that the displays were all clean and neat. The salesman we talked with was knowledgeable about their products and process. We ended up scheduling him to come to our house to measure and discuss what we wanted done. Not long after that meeting we went back to the showroom to select actual products and get an estimated price for the job. The salesman/designer helped us pick out the materials for the project and made several suggestions that we liked and incorporated into the project. We came out of that meeting with a design, list of tile, grout, fixtures, cabinetry and a tentative work plan. After reviewing the contract at home we placed the deposit. The work was done on schedule and the few complications discovered in the demolition phase resulted in minor design changes that did not increase the cost. We did add to the scope of work after the project started, which resulted in additional costs that we felt were reasonable and still within our budget. They did not start till they had all needed materials in house which allowed them to move the project forward without delays. They also took time to lay tarps on the floors from the front door to the entrance to the bathroom each day, pick them up each evening and in general did a great job of keeping the house clean during the entire project. It's been six months since the work was completed and I remain very pleased with the company and their work on this project.
