I hate driving. I hate driving so much that I live 15 mins…read morefrom work and love cities that have public transportation (I'm in the wrong city, I know). In a series of unrelated events, I ended up driving 55 minutes each way to Woodlands yesterday. Why? Because I rolled my left ankle over two wks ago (don't do jumping squat turns - or do them, and land correctly) and the swelling wasn't going down even after two days of icing it then resting it for two wks. A friend of mine training in the Soma Methodology with the French osteopath Guy Voyer recommended that I go see Jonathan at Antidote. They met at a training. He said the Woodlands and I balked. But Jonathan is literally the only guy in the southeast Texas region who can do fascia pumping. What the heck does that mean? Getting fluids inside and around your muscles to move. What good does that do? Increase joint mobility, correct the direction of joint/muscle movement, and reduce inflammation/swelling. ... is what I understood it to be. (I could be wrong, so ask Jonathan.) My friend spends thousands of dollars learning from Monsieur Voyer (the man gives seminars in NY, Dallas, Ft. Lauderdale, and Montreal, so learning in those cities involves travel and lodging costs) and apparently so does Jonathan - and Jonathan's been doing this longer than my friend has. So what could I do. I kind of value my ankle. The ability to walk freely is a nice thing to have. Plus, the idea of even having the slightest impact on accessing my shoe collection at will was petrifying enough that I chose to drive the distance. And I'm glad I did! We met at CoreFit, and Jonathan explained the procedure as well as some of his training. I was familiar with some of it so we discussed Soma and tangents off that. The session lasted over an hour and the whole time he tended to and guided the lengthening/relaxing of the muscles in my ankle/feet/shin while engaging in conversation. He even helped increase the space between the muscles in my feet so that I wouldn't get feet cramps as much. And the swelling in my ankle reduced a bit as well. Jonathan also taught me some exercises for my ankle - a homework, if you will, which I appreciated, because that means he cares about your well-being beyond his session with you. I'm happy to say that the session was pleasant, effective, and overall well-worth the drive - a rare compliment from the driving-hating individual that is me. In one example not only the half-used bottle of water was left behind on the treadmill, there were food crumbs on it. In another example an underwear was hung on the wall of a women's bathroom stall. Unfortunately despite repeated reporting to the manager/supervisor things are getting worse. 2. For almost $80 I pay for a locker, I am supposed to receive free laundry but practically I can't use this service because their laundry service destroyed one of my t-shirts and I was never compensated for it. 3. Their recovery room is closed for 1.5 hours (2:00-3:30) every business day which makes no sense. For the upscale club that this is supposed to be, the above issues should not exist.

Tickets are only $10, and that alone, is worth the 5-star review. For less than the price of a couple coffee's or cartons of eggs, you are able to have some really cool interactions with animals. If you want to experience anything else like this, you'll have to drive an hour to the Houston Zoo, pay a lot more money for tickets, deal with crowds/parking/etc. The Learning Zoo is obviously not trying to compare itself to the Houston Zoo, but where else are you going to get to play with goats, pigs, birds, a pony, tortoises and snakes? The location is really hidden behind 1488. You drive through a residential street, and then all the way at the back, you make a couple of turns, and suddenly you're at The Learning Zoo. When you walk in, you are offered some lettuce and carrots for the animals for an additional $10, which is definitely worth it. Plus, they have some animals inside the lobby area - snakes, hedgehogs, other reptiles, etc. Then you head outside to the main part of the experience. You can walk amongst the tortoises, get "attacked" by all of the birds in their sanctuary, join the goats and pigs in their pen, and they even brought out a 14 foot snake for people to hold and take pictures with. Everyone here was incredibly nice, too. We were only there for about 45 minutes, but for $40, it was worth every penny.

I have known Bob Geib for the last 10 years and I have been going to him for training on and off during all that time. I have never met anyone who knows more about anatomy and physical fitness than Bob. He is an expert on strength training, weight loss, sports fitness, and functional movement. At 50, I was in the best shape of my life, because of Bob. If you go to him and you do what he tells you to do you will see amazing results. He will start with an assessment and then set some goals for you and help you attain them. I have just started going back to Bob again because he has proven what he can do if I make a commitment. I definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to get in shape for a trip, a wedding, or just because it's the healthy thing to do. read more

I was referred to F.I.T. and Bob Geib by a doctor for additional treatment of an Achilles Tendonitis that had been bothering me for 6 mos. That was three years ago. Bob is a great guy and very interested in each of his clients. Each workout is different and he keeps them focused on all parts of the body. I am 78 years old and without Bob's encouragement and personal attention I feel that my physical condition would be keeping me from doing the things I love - playing golf, hiking and camping with friends and keeping up with my 6 grandkids. Bob is the most knowledgeable personal trainer I have known and I intend on working out with him for a long long time. read more

The owner (I'm assuming) is honestly a very indecent human being. Bob is his name if i am not mistaken. On several occasions myself and others have caught this guy in acts of racism towards people and kids in the area. This is suppose to be your place of business and there are educational facilities near by. Addressing black women as the N-word, threatening to run over people and damage their possessions! At 60+ I am in better shape today than I was in my 40s and 50s thanks to my training at FIT. I still ski, play pickle ball, chase my 4 year old grandson around and can easily do the RST (rising sitting test). I tried going to the gym, which worked out for a while, but I soon became bored with the constant repetition. I needed something a little more interesting. Lo and behold, I stumbled across this gym. Met the owner Jeff on an open gym day, who offered a free class before a membership, but I decided to become a member right then and there anyways. Best decision I could've possibly made. Here's a mental picture of a typical weekday evening, maybe around 7: walking into the gym, the first thing you see and hear are the punching bags. The smack of gloves against rubber, and then a timer going off every minute or so at a constant rate. Look to your right, a small class of new members doing a warm up. Look up at the boxing ring, a sparring match is taking place while the owner Jeff is on the sideline throwing in commentary for improvement. Chairs by the front might be occupied by a mom or two, watching as her little ones learn the basics of shadow boxing and how to wrap their hands for protection. All whilst rap music is blasting throughout the gym. With this scene in front of you, you won't be able to shake off this need to put in some work. Moving onto the actual classes. Not going to lie, the first few days suck. The workout with the instructor Jorge is going to kick your ass- I've been here for a little more than a month and for some classes I show up to, there's someone running to the bushes outside to puke at the very end. I've seen a military personnel practically winded- guess boot camp has nothing on here! But as the weeks pass by, you start noticing that hey... I did 10 more than the last time. This doesn't suck as much. And you start noticing how your stamina is improving, and that makes everything so incredibly worthwhile. You can thank Jorge for that, an amazing instructor who will push you beyond your boundaries, but understands that the body still has physical limits and will always want your health to come first. All around fantastic gym with great energy. I highly recommend to anyone seeking out a good workout for a very good deal, wants to relieve some stress, or plan on becoming the next Rocky. This is the place you want to be at.
