We went into this place for a tasting and found it a place NOT to return to If your a tourist, don't waste your money here on getting a tasting! All of their wine highly overpriced very bitter and all made with that woody after taste. :/ Though they are dog friendly they are very inhospitable to TOURIST and treated us that way! First impression: what makes this place so different is that Max, the vintner, actually is working the tasting room every day. When it's not too busy he often sits outside and plays the banjo. I love his style of winemaking: he doesn't use stainless steel, so all his wines go into neutral oak, except for the Cabernet Sauvignon, which gets some new French oak, too. The Sauvignon Blanc and the Syrah Rosé are full of flavors, mellow, yet bold. His red wines are more European style, so less sugar and alcohol. The Syrah drinks smooth and nicely, with a lot of subtle notes. The Cabernet Franc is an unusual, slightly spicy and outstanding red, and the Cabernet Sauvignon can hold its own with any California red: well rounded and rich in flavor. Lovely backyard with a stage for live music. The whole place feels warm and friendly, exactly like the wine lounge Los Olivos needed as F2 is open until 7pm. read more

Came here b/c of Bordeaux varietals and was not disappointed with any of their wines. Max is such a personable owner AND host and he enjoys what he does. The tasting room is great and there is a patio as well. Turned out to be such a pleasant surprise and will be a regular stop when in town. read more

Back in Los Olivos, saw F2 while strolling the town. Fairly new, we decided to give it a try. Really glad we stopped. Tried several great wines. The syrah rosé was very good (and I don't typically like rosé wine. The syrah, cab franc and cab Sauvignon we're all very good. The winemaker, Max, Cale in during our tasting and was clearly passionate about the wine and very knowledgeable. read more

Los Olivos has so many great tasting rooms and F2 is a wonderful new offering that stands out as one of my favorites... The owner and wine maker, Max, serves up his beautiful wines in an elegant, yet cozy old cottage right on Grand Avenue. The backyard area is a lush and comfortable place to enjoy the wines as well - the evening I was there a jazz band was playing. Max is also an accomplished banjo player, if you're lucky you'll hear him play too! And the WINES - the fruit really shines in F2's wines, all organically sourced from the Los Olivos District - the Cab Franc and Rosé are not to be missed. read more

A great space, great wines, and a great host in the wine maker himself, Max, made for a wonderful experience (along with it being the perfect spot to bring along your dogs too)! I will confess that there are a lot of great vineyards and tasting rooms on the Central Valley Coast, in particular Los Olivos. F2 stands out as one of the best...sure the wine is really great but the hosts are very smart and charming AND will create a unique tasting experience for you and your party. If you are 'really lucky' Max may be playing his banjo not only to lure you in but you will be delighted to hear a virtuoso in the realm of fine wine making AND music. Max was very personable and it was a great place to relax and have an excellent glass of wine. Great place for wine tasting in Los Olivos! Max the owner/wine maker was more than pleasant and spent quality time explaining the difference in his wines and others making the same efforts in a different style! His wine was very appealing to the palate we thoroughly enjoyed the tasting and the visit. While we were there, another couple stopped in (cases in tow) and just wanted to tell Max that his was the "BEST" tasting of the day!! Love this tasting room in Los Olivos! My boyfriend and I went the other weekend to see a local jazz band play and now we're hooked. They have a great backyard patio where they often have live music and you can't go wrong with any of the wines. This place epitomizes the reason we started going to Los Olivios/Santa Ynez Valley in the first place. We walked in and really enjoyed the wine and talking with the wine maker, who was pouring for us. He spent a lot of time telling us why he did each specific thing as well as living at the vineyard so he could take the grapes from cradle to grave.
