The class is a super good workout. Movements are not complex so they are easy to figure out quickly. The instructors are super motivating and helpful if your form is off. The studio is clean and the workout goes by in a blink. I will be back again... when I can feel my legs.

Also, it was free to use, which was nice. Separate cardio/weightlifting workout areas, basketball courts, a pool, running track, raquetball courts, and "Group X" classes (everything from spinning to yoga and core classes) made for a great, comprehensive offering of options. Only a few negatives: -the cardio center is always always packed -the weight room is full of beefy jock dude bros which can make it intimidating if you're a female student who's in their late(r) twenties -as Ari said, if you aren't a student, it's probably not worth it monetarily

They definitely have a lot of equipment in the general workout area and seem to keep things clean and in good working order, which amazes me because there is A LOT of daily traffic. With that said, it gets very busy certain times of the day and you will end up waiting to use machines. What frustrated me the most were the girls with curled hair, tons of makeup, and the shortest of shorts barley walking (like 2.0 walk) on the treadmill or elliptical that never broke a sweat. Then they go sit on machines or "stretch" for 20-30 minutes, clearly trying to pick up the bros that also hog gym equipment; these people also have the nerve to stare at the females who are there to ACTUALLY work out. Once I saw this sign that said: "If you still look pretty at the end of your workout, then you didn't train hard enough." That's the motto I go by when I'm at the gym, which is why the little gym bunnies and bros *really* bug me. So, I learned to workout at very odd times - like 6am-7:30am or in the middle of the day when all the undergrads had class. It was usually pretty free Sat&Sun mornings too. I also learned to run on the indoor track; I got great enjoyment out of speeding by the others with sweat dripping down my face. Klotsche is a good facility if you are a student here and the segregated fees will cover the cost (5 stars there). Be prepared to experiment with best times to go if you want to get a real workout in (definitely a -1, if not -2). I do not recommend purchasing a membership if you are a community member or alumni. It's is ridiculously expensive and you still have to pay for parking in the structure!

Ascent Gym has a variety of wellness activities that cater to a variety of people from different walks of life. The atmosphere is so calming, and the staff loves what they do and helps us. Ascent Gym is honestly a one-stop shop when it comes to overall wellness, and if they cannot provide the service requested, they know someone who does. You are in good hands when it comes to Ascent and its staff. It's so clean and safe in there, and they help everyone. They accept various types of insurance and referrals from different programs, too. I personally work with a Fitness Trainer named "Dre". Dre has been a fitness trainer and mental health professional for over 20+ years, and he takes pride in what he does. His reward is to see us at our best, and he takes his time with the fitness training exercises so that he can meet the needs of the consumer. Dre is so motivational and flexible in scheduling (even though he is in high demand and has a waitlist). He is certified and licensed in fitness and mental health, and he combines the two so he can best support us in becoming the best version of ourselves. Dre loves what he does and is dedicated to helping the community. Ascent Gym also has yoga, art therapy, music therapy, fitness, and various other services that can serve your needs regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, income, and or mental or emotional health needs. If your are looking for a place that can help you or your consumer or client, Ascent Gym is the place to choose. They treat you like family and it's so tranquil in there. As soon as you walk in the building, you can feel the safety, wellness, and welcoming atmosphere. Try Ascent Gym! You would be making the best decision for this season of your life. The best part of the gym is that the classes allow each member to go at their own pace so it was a fit for the beginner who had never been to a gym before (like me when I started there) to the person who's been working out their whole life. And of course safety was first and foremost as the trainers made sure each lift, exercise was done properly by each person or you wouldn't do it and a substitute exercise would be given. I really wish I had the time to get back to it but in the meantime, more room for you!

There are so many ways to visit Brew Fitness - in person, online for live zoom classes and on-demand classes. I've added a picture of my favorite area - the personal training station. I love the group classes, but the personal training offered here is wonderful. The trainers are knowledgeable, nice and fun! Membership: I do the unlimited membership because it gives me access to all the classes, but you can buy packs of classes, a virtual membership, on-and demand access. All very well priced! You can even drop in for single classes! Extra bits: Also worth mentioning are the dogs you might see, the beer you may drink and the coffee that's always available. It's also always clean - it's two levels of fitness fun. Just a unique experience at a gym that's truly member focused. Being someone who struggled for over 15 years with chronic back pain and fatigue, to my surprise these classes have truly been a life saver. While researching on line trying to find a personal trainer that specializes in working with back problems I came across a journal sentinel article about this gym. I went in knowing nothing or ever even heard of cross fit. I told them about my back problems and my prior surgeries. I started out real slow, barely enough strength to do a girl push up. They spent a lot of time explaining the exercises, how to alter them in regards to my fitness level making sure I do them correctly and use proper form. I mostly work with Matt, who has helped me tremendously. Slowly I've been gaining more and more strength and endurance I didn't know I was capable of. Everyone that works out there is so super supportive and I actually look forward to getting exercise! The biggest part of all this....My back pain and the pain down my leg is GONE, like it was never there. I am so thankful to have found this place!!!

Also, there will be classes off blocking off the entire weight room during my only period of time to work out so I am unable to get the kettlebell weights needed for my exercises due to a class using a PUBLIC room. Lastly, the pickleball afternoon times are so limited and they will randomly have lessons without posting anywhere on the virtual schedule causing people to drive all the way there and they can't use the gym for the already limited pickleball times. I mean you guys have two apps (confusing!) you'd think you could figure out how to post the times online... The good: for what you get with the classes and really nice showers the price is relatively affordable.
