Iron Resolve Crossfit was one of the few area gyms that satisfied my two most important needs, solid programming and experienced coaching. Programming at Iron Resolve has been incredibly solid, with a good mix of olympic technique, basic core lifting, and thought out WODs. The current coaches, Dan and Mike, offer needed cues and help scale things down when needed. The space itself is fantastic, long enough space that you can run inside in the winter. Not sure if running in the winter is a point for or against Iron Resolve though...such a miserable thing to do. With a solid community behind it, this is a great place for the committed, but maybe not Games competitive, crossfitter looking to get stronger and faster. As some more accessory equipment is brought in, I'll probably end up taking this review to five stars, as that is one of the few, knocks against IRCF.

The studio design is super sleek and modern and their front desk staff is helpful and friendly. I'm in pretty decent shape since I workout regularly, but I was gasping for breath in these classes. I've taken both their Bands and their Dance classes and they are legitimately hard. Their instructors are upbeat, the music is great and the choreography is on point, which is what keeps me coming back! But if you are a beginner and/or are working on getting in shape, you likely will be very discouraged by these classes. I'm giving 4 stars because of the following: -I'm used to fitness classes where the instructors will offer modifications for certain exercises, but haven't found that to be the case at AKT. -No designated changing area (I have to awkwardly change clothes in the bathroom stall) -The lockers are really tiny and don't fit much of your stuff. Everyone at the gym is extremely friendly. It's also a bargain compared to having a personal trainer. Each person is given attention to ensure the movements are being executed correctly. I do have a friend who is a regular at this location and it does not bother her, but it was so distracting for me that I could not continue here. It literally smells like an old toilet. The training is excellent, but the staff is very sales driven and aggressive, and when I pointed out the smell they acted like I had two heads and deflected that something was wrong with me - very unprofessional. The good news is that there are many other options in the area, OH and they are using the Westport name but not technically in Westport.
